I am not one to post negative reviews on establishments however I can not let this one slide. I recently purchased a very expensive Mikaela wedding gown from Marah's Elegant Bridal. The initial service of picking out the dress and trying on different dresses was five stars. Megan was pleasant to work with and allowed me to explore a variety of dresses in my price range. I finally found one that I loved and proceeded with ordering the gown, etc. When I came to pick up the gown this summer, it was very obvious this gown was at least 2-3 sizes to big for me. Nothing was mentioned about this, but rather clasped to show me what it will "look like" after alterations. In addition, nothing was mentioned about being able to alter this type of fabric, or any things I should be aware of. I was hurried out of the store and on my way. When it came time to get the dress altered (I live in San Francisco), I could not find a single seamstress who would even touch this dress. I went to 3 different highly qualified seamstresses in my city, and was told on every occasion that this dress could not be altered to my size and still remain the same. It was obvious that this dress had been sold to me in an incorrect size, and the material was too delicate to be altered down too many sizes. I immediately called Marah in tears (my wedding is 6 weeks away) and was told that the seamstresses have zero idea what they are talking about. And that her seamstress in WI would have zero problem fixing this. She sent me the measurements that Megan had done in the store and they were off by 4 inches in my hips! It is impossible to lose 4 inches in your hips in 4 months! Hence the incorrect size of the dress. Fast forward a week of back and forth, Marah continued to take zero responsibility for this mistake. She was extremely rude, unaccommodating, and obviously extremely money hungry. She is the definition of poor customer service, and has caused so much undue stress for me. After begging and crying for over a week, she offered me $300...for a $2450 dress! It was absolutely insulting considering the dress is brand new, never been altered, and still has the tags on it. At this point it isnt even about the money anymore, its about how absolutely rude and unpleasant Marah has been through this entire thing. She is a scam and has zero interest in customer service. I highly recommend looking elsewhere if you want to be treated with any form of respect. read more

I had such an awesome experience here while choosing my wedding dress! Kelly was so great and easy to work with; she made me feel very comfortable through the whole process. I agree with another reviewer, their bridesmaid dress selection is limited. However, I LOVED the bridal selection!! If we were only to get my gown here, I'd give Marah's Bridal 5 starts, no problem. However, we got my rehearsal dinner dress, MOB dress, and all of the men's suits here, as well. It was all a disaster. Missing payments, double the lead time, wrong(non-returnable) sizes, poor follow up, and lies. To top it off, I had to deal with the calls, from the bridal party dealing with Marah's as well, complaining in depth of the service they received. My experience at Marah's was my only significant pain point in planning my own wedding. Many swear words and almost tears were splattered throughout our home during our time working with this shop. My suggestion: great place for your gown. Go somewhere else for the other stuff. read more

I hesitated writing this for months. My daughters wedding dress and my mother of the bride dress were a disaster. The seamstress Monirose ruined her dress. After alterations the dress was too small unable to wear. We bought another gown at Vera's. They had it to perfection in less than 3 weeks. My dress had a flawed zipper no one could repair. Marah did give me another gown size 14/16. I am a size 4. I had another seamstress try to alter but I looked horrible. Unable to get another dress I wore it much to my regret. Wedding guests looked at me in shock. I never felt so humiliated. This is not how I wanted to remember this day. I hate posting this. I did enjoy Marah. But I wish we would have never purchased from this bridal shop. I will always regret this horrible experience. read more

I loved my first visit to Marah's to find my bridal gown. The store was cute and inviting. I felt very attended to by Marissa. I came back a second time (because I was trying to make a final decision on two gowns I liked) and felt very rushed. This was a big decision for me - I was putting the money down! - and I felt like they were trying to get me out of there as soon as possible. If they didn't want to give me time to make this important decision then they shouldn't have let me make an appointment for that time on Saturday (it was a 3:00pm appointment and they close at 4:00pm). I did end up buying a dress that day, but I wish that I hadn't. When my dress came in 6 months later they NEVER CALLED me. They sent an email that went to my Spam folder! With such an important purchase I felt they should have called. Had I known when it came in, I would have been able to bring my 3 out-of-town bridesmaids to come view the dress with me since they were in town for the holidays. Sadly, because of Marah's, this won't happen. When I finally found out my dress was in, I asked the owner to remind me of the name of the seamstress they recommend. Instead of just giving me this information, which I'm sure she has readily available, she said "that information was provided to you with your receipt when you bought the dress." Really? Of course I still have the receipt - but since I have you on the phone, would it be too much trouble to pass along this information again? Marah's is great for your first bridal appointment, but once you buy something from them, they don't care about you anymore. The owner is flippant and rude. I suggest finding your dress here and then purchasing elsewhere. EDIT: This business has since reached out to me regarding my concerns. They have changed their policy and now will be calling brides when their dresses are in. They also apologized regarding my other complaints. read more

Today I picked up my dress, continuing a wonderful experience at Marah's. Due to my schedule I had to come in on a day when Marah was not working and ended up working with Becca. She was wonderful! She helped us pick out earrings and a veil and let me wear the dress the whole time, as I didn't want to take it off. I, and six other girls, ordered bridesmaid dresses from Marah's Elegant Bridal in early November for a May wedding, and were told they would be here in the beginning of February. Then we were told that the dresses would be here by late February. Recently we were told that the dresses will be here mid-March - just two months before the wedding, during prom and wedding season. We were not offered any sort of discount because the dresses are coming in a month and a half past the original date, despite the fact that they only left two months for us to get them fitted and altered during the busiest time of year for seamstresses. They did not seem very concerned at all for the stress they caused us because they are "a small business trying to survive." Well if that's the case, impeccable customer service should be their top priority. I will never go to them again and would not recommend them to anyone looking for timely service during the stressful months leading up to a wedding. They might be a "quaint" and "cute" store, but I'd rather go to a big box store like David's Bridal and have a dress arrive within a given deadline, not a month and a half late. read more

I had an appointment, but they were over booked / understaffed and I never got the time I expected when shopping for a MOG dress. Staff was very, very insensitive to plus size patrons - curtain on changing room didn't close, repeated measurements loudly from the middle of the store. One of the most humiliating experiences of my life. Follow up - I sent an email to Marah about my experience. Her response was quick and sincere and I think that she will make some changes as a result. The shop is adorable and they have a good selection. I would recommend Marah's Elegant Bridal to anyone in the market for wedding gowns or bridesmaid dresses. I've been in a number of weddings in the past two years. Most of my friends are out of Chicago and so I've done the big, fancy shops and the huge, discount shops in the city with them. I've never been overly impressed with any of them. My cousin (the bride), my aunt and I came to Marah's shop over the weekend looking for a dress for her and for me. My cousin was very worried about finding a dress that made her feel beautiful and she has chosen a very short time frame to make her wedding happen within: December proposal... March wedding... EEK! So we were on a mission. We spent the afternoon with Marah and she took such special care of us. My cousin had ideas about what she wanted and Marah helped us weigh our options and find the perfect dress(es)! Wonderful place. I had heard so many good things about Marah's from different friends. I was attracted to the place because it was small and locally owned. Marah's was the first place I went to try on gowns and I ended up purchasing my gown there. Of course, Marissa and Marah have such an eye for fashion, my top two gowns and the one I ended up buying, were dresses I didn't pick out but Marissa did! I also bought a great feather headpiece and earrings and a bracelet from the Meg jewelry line. Marah's Elegant Bridal is the epitome of having a true bridal experience. I grew up in small town in Wisconsin and, after living in Madison, Chicago and a few places in Europe, I never would have thought such a fashion-forward, big-city bridal salon could be found in small town Mt. Horeb, WI. From the minute I stepped into the boutique I felt warm - you are able to physically touch all of the gowns (beautiful and great variety), you are greeted by Marah herself (who is absolutely adorable), AND you actually get to choose the first gowns you try on (hello, you are in control from the get-go)! Knowing the style I liked I went straight for a bold gown that caught my eye from across the salon. It was the first gown I tried on and it ended up being "the one." Marah and her sister were so genuinely happy I found the gown that they let me walk around in it, dance in it, and even spent a good 45 minutes with me trying out different veils, belts, etc. I had an absolutely wonderful experience here and would recommend it for any bride looking for a personal touch in their wedding dress shopping endeavor. read more
