Today I opted for the 12" Italian sub toasted. This is the first time I've gotten a sandwich here. It was fast, 5-6 minutes from order to completion. The staff is always very friendly and efficient. Their pizzas are delicious and always prepared well also. The 12" Italian sub was tasty with plenty of meat, lettuce and tomato. It really hit the spot.

We still put Loui's and Buddy's (Conant location ONLY) ahead but still outstanding. Oooh, almost forgot, didn't see this coming but it was a completely awesome bonus: complimentary breadsticks with (I assume) hot honey. Huge hit! In 2024 and 2025, Johnny Z's brought it back, collaborating with Full Rack Barbecue instead. I've also tried the cheese bread and the boneless wings. I've had the cheese bread twice now, and it's about what you'd expect it to be. I will say, the first time I had it was better than the second. I recommend getting the garlic butter dip. As for the wings, they were just okay, but I'd be willing to give them another try. All things considered, Johnny Z's is a solid, local pizza place, and is better than your typical pizza chain.

Detroit square style similar to Buddy's. While cloverleaf may be small and take out only, you're missing out if you're not giving them a try. I will come back again and enjoy their delicious pizza.
