My daughter and I both ordered the cod, and from the first bite something was clearly wrong. The fish had a strong, off-putting taste -- reminiscent of bleach or ammonia -- and neither of us could eat it. We told the assistant manager, who was apologetic and told us she would remove both meals from our bill. We trusted that and didn't push further, assuming it would be handled. The bill arrived with only $5 taken off. When I brought this back to the same assistant manager, we were told the most they could do was 10%. No explanation, no escalation, no offer of a replacement meal or even a gesture of goodwill while we sat there having eaten virtually nothing. We paid nearly $90 where one person in our family ate. The fish was inedible, a manager's word was not honored, and we left hungry. To be fair, our waitress was attentive and kind. The rest of our table enjoyed their meals without any complaints. I understand that kitchen mistakes happen -- that's not the issue. The issue is how it was handled. A simple follow-through on what was promised would have gone a long way. Instead, we left with a bad experience and, quite literally, a bad taste in our mouths. We definitely won't be making the 40 min drive again.

But went here a few times a couple years back and every time I've been here, I've always been impressed with the food and their service. The salmon was great. As good as it looks. They were out of it so I settled on the 5oz sirloin steak with mushrooms and onions from the lighter menu. My partner chose the tavern turkey dinner that came with stuffing and gravy. Totally drool worthy. Almost every menu item comes with soup or salad, a roll, vegetable, and your choice of potato. It was like having a nice home cooked meal. This was my favorite part. The portions were perfect and all the food was delicious. I would return here weekly.

I didn't eat them--I sent them back and politely asked for them to be removed from the bill. My friend got a box for his food and despite the experience, still left a tip. When we walked to our car, the waiter and other staff members proceeded to flip us off, give us thumbs-down gestures, and stare us down through the windows until we drove away. Why should I be expected to pay for or eat something I didn't order? Mistakes happen, but treating customers this way for respectfully addressing a mistake is extremely immature and unprofessional. Customers spend their hard-earned money to support your business and deserve basic respect. Your staff represents your business. If management allows this kind of behavior to continue without addressing it, it reflects poorly on the entire establishment and sends the message that treating customers this way is acceptable.
