Brian was amazing! I called him around 10 am. He asked me to text him pictures and my address. He responded promptly with a quote and was available the same day. I must admit when Brian pulled up and and with a pick up truck I had done doubts. But he was confident and I needed the room cleared. It was a room that had terrible water damage, lots of old furniture, dust and other things.... Brian got to work, analyzing everything inside and strategically emptying the room. I was impressed. He didn't complained and even showed me some techniques he's learned over the years. He had no tools, and was very resourceful. Crazy! I kept watching and telling him how impressed I was. Thank you Brian! I will tell the world about you! read more

My friend and I booked Brian about 3 weeks ago for our move this weekend. She had a positive experience with him a few years ago, however this time we did not. We had told Brian the amount of stuff we had to move from 2 separate apartments into a storage unit, and told him we do need a truck not a van (as seen in the image below). We confirmed with Brian a few times about timing and day, and Brian was very responsive. However, on the day of our move (today) Brian showed up with sprinter van, not a truck, and said that his moving partner cancelled on him, did not show up for the move, and that his phone was off. Brian would have had todo the move alone, which was not worth the whole day. I would not consider booking brianandhisvan ever again. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH BRIAN I contacted Brian for a junk clean up. I asked him for a COI but he declined and told me to just tell my building that he was a friend coming to buy my furniture, which seemed a bit fishy. He asked for a deposit to schedule the booking, over venmo, so I sent him a deposit. I then contacted my building to confirm the time Brian would come but they had after told me that a COI would be required. All of this was within 5 minutes of me sending the deposit to Brian. I had informed Brian this and he declined to send me the deposit back. He said he had already "booked his schedule" and would not refund. It had only been 5 minutes after he booked that I wanted to cancel. read more

I cannot say enough great things about Brian! If you are in need of his services and are on the fence about whether to use him -- stop what you are doing and call him, NOW. A few weeks ago, I was in a bit of a predicament involving 2 old couches, 1 new sectional, and my 5th-floor walkup on the UES. Basically, I bought the sectional and had scheduled the delivery without realizing that I would also need to get rid of my two old couches. Not my proudest moment! I came to this realization two days before the sectional was scheduled to be delivered, so I needed the old old couches gone and fast. As usual, I took to Yelp and called at least 20 junk removal places. The majority were not available on short notice, and those who were wanted to charge me an obscene amount of money. I was basically in tears and practically about to try and dismantle my old couches myself (which would never have worked, lol), when Brian called me back and saved the day. His quote was literally 80% lower than his competitors and he was available the next day! Not only did he arrive at my apartment 10 mins ahead of schedule the next day, he was in and out with my 2 couches -- which he had to completely disassemble in order to fit them through my narrow door -- in like 30 mins. What's even more impressive is that he managed to do the entire job himself!!! Brian was professional, polite, friendly, and just an all-around awesome guy. I'm looking forward to hiring him for all my future moving & junk removal needs. He rocks!!! read more

My husband and I are in the middle of moving to a new apartment in Brooklyn NY. Moving in NYC is already stressful and expensive as _______! But moving in NYC spur of the moment because your landlord wants to increase the rent to a ridiculous amount in 30 days, when your husband just started a new job and can't take off from work to help you apartment hunt, and finding out that NO ONE in New York City will take an old sofa for donation if you have pets or if there is a rip, tear, or stain anywhere on it even though its an awesome sofa is even more stressful! I really wanted someone to get some use out of it. The Salvation Army said they would take it but couldn't come get it until March. So we planned to get a uhaul and take it to them. They offered no instructions or restrictions over the telephone the two times I called them so we thought it was a go and moved on to the next order of moving business. However, when my husband arrived with the sofa, they would not take it because of a rip in the material caused by a rebellious teenaged cat. So we brought it home and continued loading the uhaul to take over to the new apartment. We sat the sofa on the sidewalk. Meanwhile, my landlord is a seriously annoying busybody and she pounded on the doorbell and knocked on the glass window to our apartment Sunday morning at 9:00 AM to tell us we could not leave the sofa on the sidewalk and that neighbors were complaining. I found that interesting because when people are moving and I'm the neighbor that's looking on, I don't give a hotdog what they do. Anyway, we moved it into the yard. We moved it out to make space in these tiny behind apartments you rent for the cost of a lung, a kidney, and your first child in NYC. But since she was so annoying about it, we tried to figure out how to bring it back inside the apartment and not have it in our way. By then, all the friends who showed up to help us were gone and only he and I were left to move the sofa. Yeah, right...that didn't go very well. So we decided to junk it. Let me just say that New York City does not have a city based junk removal system in place for last minute junk decisions. If you want to toss your bulky furniture, you have to plan ahead, go online and set up an appointment for it to get picked up. I was advised to do this two weeks to a month in advance... We currently have two days left in the old apartment. So, on to plan B. After googling junk collectors I called all over tarnation trying to get quotes. Afterall, we just dropped a grip on the new place, the uhaul, the storage unit, and little essentials that go along with moving so we needed to keep the cost as low as possible. Most of these places wanted to schedule an appointment in the future. One place scheduled an appointment for me to get an appointment. (She scratches her head like hunh? Ain't nobody got time for all that!). Meanwhile the landlord is steady texting and calling to say "You have to move the sofa, please. Please move the sofa. When will you move the sofa? Don't leave the sofa in the apartment." It was like that paperboy kid in the old John Cusack movie, Better Off Dead, who kept showing up at the most inopportune times saying he wanted his two dollars." UGH I wanted to say lady if you don't stop texting, calling, and knocking me (okay knocking on my window, not knocking me. But it flowed so I tried it)...I'm gonna throw the sofa at your head. But I didn't say that to her. I tried to be understanding and just get along with all, keeping the peace as much as possible. Instead I turned to good ole Yelp and searched there for junk removal. I came across the reviews for Brian and His Van and Trucks.EVERYONE seemed to love Brian and his team (except like one person) so I called him. Immediately he said I could text him a picture of the item and get a quote. He didn't lie, within seconds of texting him the picture i'll upload here on yelp, he responded that he'd do it for $100. Honestly, I thought the price was a little steep to collect one sofa. But It was also last minute and He said he could send a team out immediately. Within two hours they were there, on time EXACTLY at the time he gave me, collected the sofa (There were end tables and a coffee table too--you'll see in the picture, but the agreement was for the sofa. The other stuff qualified as trash...), and were gone within 10 minutes. Just like that I felt the burden of my irksome soon to be old landlord lift off of me and I had regular moving stress again instead of onerous wearisome stress. I can handle small dosages of normal stress. Annnnd, Brian was sick the whole time, working from home. I'm so glad he did because he lifted a mighty load off of my back with that one quick ($100) pick up. I hope he feels better quickly! I do. read more

So I scheduled a bulk item/mattress disposal with the city and got the confirmation and thought everything will go smoothly but who was I kidding. My pick up date arrived and the city did not pick up my mattress. Called 311 and was told that it was going to be picked. It was not. I began to get concerned that I'll have to pay the penalty for leaving a mattress outside on the curb because my neighbour mentioned someone got fined 1000$. I frantically began calling several junk removers late at night looking for the best rates as I wanted the mattress gone. Brian was the best rate I received and I went with him for next day pick up/removal. From the onset, Brian was very professional. He provided updates on his arrival time and the pick up was seamless. Given the less than 12 hour turn around from my first contact with Brian and him picking up my mattress, I wholeheartedly recommend Brian and his van. Five stars all around. I will definitely be using him again if/when the need arises. read more

So. Definitely five stars for several reasons: (1) I asked that my junk be removed and they did it. The desk I wanted thrown away wouldn't fit through the door and they had to take it apart. Lots of struggling. I'm really sorry about that, but I'm super grateful. They handled it very well. Thank you so much! (2) I asked that I have my boxes moved to another location and they did that as well. No complaints, really fast. (3) When I contacted Brian, even during the day of my move he responded super quickly. (4) Cheap af Mission accomplished with little effort on my part so definitely 5 stars. There could be some improvement with communication, though. The response was super fast which was awesome, but was lacking a little on clarity. (1) For example, I didn't know it would be an issue to pay with a card or that I should have let Brian know in advance that that's how I wanted to pay. Most small businesses have some kind of thing set up where you can pay through their website or with Pay Pal or some other secure cash app. So it would have been great to know that up front. (2) One of the guys showed up 2 hours early? That's amazing. It's great that he was so dedicated, but I was still cleaning my apartment and about to take a shower when he showed up. I scheduled 1 pm so that my new landlord would be there to open the door at the new place. We would have had to wait 2 hours for him to open up, which would have sucked. I understand you guys wanna get things done, but sometimes people specify a time for a reason. It would be nice to adhere to that time or at least given notice if it's going to be different. (3) All confirmation was on my end. I had to check to make sure everything was fine before the day of. That's not a problem, I'm just used to businesses sending out a text or email or something to make sure they have the correct information and appointment time. (4) A break down of how y'all like to be tipped would be nice. Still 5 starts though. Just need a little improvement. Also, Brian, if you're reading this please apologize to your coworkers for me. My landlord made some racist ass comments more than once to them. They laughed it off, but I'm super sorry. I swear I didn't know he was like that. I'm very embarrassed and kind of angry about it. My apologies. read more

I had to move from a 6th-floor walkup in Little Italy out to Queens and only had about a week to arrange a moving company. I received all sorts of quotes loaded with surcharges and when I would contact those companies, they wouldn't have anyone available. Brian responded to my request for a quote immediately and was responded right away to my texts. He gave me a competitive and straightforward quote with a minimum charge. The job was arranged in five minutes. Easy. I didn't have my apartment completely packed but Killian and Dwayne showed up, were total gentleman and got right to work. Moving up and down six flights of stairs is rough but these guys were consummate professionals who got the job done and moved everything into my new place in perfect condition. I wouldn't hesitate to use Brianandhisvan again. Thanks, guys! read more

Wow, requested a quote and within five minutes, I received a response from Brian! I'm not even exaggerating! I see why the ratings are so high! Brian sent Steven, who was very knowledgeable. I was inquiring about a new AC installation. Steven was able to answer all questions, even sending me pics of how he can put it. He worked with no inconvenience to me. Anyways, Steven did an awesome job; I would definitely recommend his services to everyone! His prices are better, and more reasonable, than everyone else who I contacted via Yelp! Brian accepted my same day couch removal job at 10am was at my front door by 11:50am, sending me iPhone map updates every 5-10 minutes while on the road. Brian was great! I asked for a quote through Yelp, he got back to me right away with a really reasonable fee, and he immediately found time the next morning to get rid of an old couch and some assorted junk I've been holding onto for way too long. Brian or whoever he sent (didn't catch a name) picked up dresser for me from a Craigslist sale and he was great! He was a man of few words but I'm paying him to move furniture, not to chit chat and that's what happened. I called last minute, he text me a list of questions, I replied and got a quote back- all within 5 minutes. He arrived an hour later. The only weird part was he was moving a another person's couch during the same trip so, there was another client in the front passenger seat. No room for me in the front with them, so Brian(?) had me sit on the couch in the back part of the van. It was quite hot and stuffy and I felt a little like I might be getting kid-napped. I could see that we were going the right way from the window in the back and I still had access on my phone to the outside world so I just tried to relax, not sweat too much and not think about the situation at hand. When we got to my place... he moved the dresser into my room. I gave him his money and that was that. Easy as pie! :-) I will definitely use him again but this time... I'm gonna insist on sitting in front! read more

Fantastic experience all around. Texted late last night for a last minute request to remove a bunch of boxes from my apartment. Brian immediately responded and coordinated a time/fair price with my specific time range, despite it being a bit inconvenient. Brian's very good about communicating and gives you a good quote before the move and that's that. I would definitely recommend him to my friends and anyone else. An update to my review, again had to use Brian's services for a last minute furniture pick up deal and it was great. Within 3 hours, Brian sent 2 guys over to the apt, picked up the pieces and delivered them for me and I just paid when they delivered rather than having to go meet them at the place myself. Brian gets right down to business. Knows exactly what he's doing and as everyone knows, moving/removing furniture in NYC can be insane. It's good to have some local people who know what they're doing and make it very easy. I'm moving and didn't want to take my furniture. I had a very large sofa, love seat, tables and chest of drawers I had no idea what to do with. Landlord didn't want it in front of my building either. Moved it out in under an hour no problem. ---------- Changed this to 3 stars a week later. Guy totally blew me off when I asked for an invoice/receipt on 3 separate occasions. Point of transaction, few days later and then a week later. Does a good job, but this cash in, cash out, if you're trying to expense part of a move. And he INSISTS on cash. Cant recommend. read more

Where do i start for this review. My fiancé and I were moving out of our sublet, late night we had already made plans with a car service to send over an SUV for the last bit of our belongings. The SUV never arrived instead a small four door automobile. I ordered another car, and at this point it was getting late. Long story short I ended up rolling the dice and I got to Brian. It is now 3 o'clock in the morning and this white knight appears with his trusty van. I told him all I needed was a driver, but no he loaded up the rest of my belongings into his vehicle. He was constantly polite and courteous. You see being from the south we are told to watch out for the northern folks ;), but as stated Brian was great. We rolled up to our new place and he moved us inside in no time. That's not even the best part. At some point in the drive my iPad was bounced out of a box mainly due to my not securing it properly. I called Brian, he looked in his van, found it, and what do you think he asked me? If I wanted him to bring it to me! Firstly he found it, didn't keep it, didn't spin me a tale. He honest to god told me yep I have it, and I will bring it to you! It was late and I told him if we could meet tomorrow morning that would be great. Yet again he out did himself. We met, he gave me the last bit of my belongings, and really blew my mind with how awesome he is. This guy is everything that you could want. Please don't hesitate to give him a call I know I won't. read more

Don't waste your time with these guys. Barrie's review was right on the money. They tell you they're going to show up in 10 minutes, and 2 hours later after not answering texts or calls, you realize they are completely unreliable, and basically liars. Finally I get in touch with Brian and he says, "Hey, that guy I put you in touch with doesn't work for me, I was doing you a favor. Things happen and people don't show up. Not my problem buddy..." Huh? Look at the reviews on this site. Most of them are likely friends or made up profiles with only one review, for Brian. I should've known when I saw the carpet bombing of posts on Craigslist. Fortunately for me, I wasn't depending on them to move me out of my lease at the end of the month, because I would've been screwed. Just like you'll be when they treat you the way they treated Barrie, and now me. Caveat Emptor. Just wanted to reveal the follow up text to me from Brian after my yelp review: "Next time, don't lowball, offer more money" and "LOL, like a yelp review is going to affect my business in any way..." So basically he's admitting his response below is a lie because there are other reviews that mention Johnny as one of his employees, and that if I had offered more money than WHAT WE HAD AGREED UPON, then maybe they wouldn't have stood me up...great business practices Brian...agree on a price, then reneg if you feel like it because the amount of money agreed upon isn't worth your time if you decide you're too tired to work later on in the day...or if somebody else calls at the last minute with a better offer...and then instead of apologizing for your employee's lack of professionalism and wasting everybody's time, insulting the customer. A simple, "we can't do it for that price..." in the beginning, or a simple "sorry, we are running behind, and won't be able to make it today, how about another day?" would've been enough and the right thing to do...but that probably explains why he talks about how great his service is but has only a handful of reviews here... Look at his response below: "Believe the reviews from people who actually used my service..." Clearly, Brian doesn't understand that somebody's "service" is way more than just the actual move. It's offering respectful, reliable employees. It's showing up on time, (or showing up at all) once you've reached an agreement on a price and a time for the service. It's communicating with the customer and telling them if for some reason it's not going to happen as agreed upon, rather than lying and telling them you're 10 minutes away when you're not coming at all. And it's working hard to make good on your promises and getting to the bottom of the reason for your employee screwing up, rather than insulting your customer and telling them that if they had offered more money, maybe they would've bothered to show up so it's YOUR fault they didn't show up. You can take Barrie's and my word for how shady and unreliable these guys are or the other "reviews" here. Good luck with your decision. If I were you, I'd go with the other movers on yelp who have hundreds more reviews and overwhelmingly positive over Brian's handful of reviews, with recent ones now almost half negative...but hey, lesson learned. read more

Brian is great. Texted him at 10am on a Sunday to move a few leftover items I had at my old place and arranged to meet there at noon the same day. The price was reasonable ($80 from a 2nd story walk-up to a 3rd story walk-up half way across Brooklyn), he was right on time, we got it all loaded up and moved quickly and here I am, 1:20pm, my stuff is in my place and everything went smoothly. The nightmare of moving is inevitable in NY, but Brian can make it less of a nightmare. I'll be recommending him to friends and I'll undoubtedly be looking him up next time I move. read more

TLDR: Brian took my last minute request, was 10 minutes early, super friendly, and was very careful with my vintage furniture. -- I purchased a vintage dresser on Craigslist and told them I'd pick it up the next day. Being a petite girl, I was worried about picking up a Craigslist listing and dealing with movers all alone, but I decided to just go for it. Anyways, being near the end of the month, most delivery companies are fully booked moving people from one apartment to the next. Panicked, I found Brian via Yelp the day of the move, called him up, and he said he'd be there. Brian and I both got to the apartment early, and he was chill about waiting for the owner to arrive. I've dealt with late movers many many times, and the fact that Brian was 10 minutes early was huge. He helped me inspect the piece, and we were on our way. We chatted the entire way to my apartment - great guy to talk to. Once we got there, he suggested trying to see if we could lift it together, but I couldn't. He said no problem, and got out a dolly. We lifted it up my stoop together and placed it in my room. I'd rather help out with the move than hire an extra guy, and Brian was very professional with instructing me on how to assist. I couldn't have asked for a smoother move. Knowing Brian, I feel way more comfortable buying things on Craigslist, now that I know a prompt, careful, and friendly go-to delivery guy. His fees were super reasonable and I wouldn't hesitate reaching out to him for larger moves as well. Thanks so much Brian, and good luck growing your business! read more
