Great team. Donna kept us up to date on scheduling, and Brian fixed our plumbing issues.

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Here is a draft of the review that balances your appreciation for their technical skill with your…read morevalid frustrations regarding their pricing structure. Review for Roto-Rooter Rating: I have mixed feelings about my recent experience with Roto-Rooter. On one hand, their technicians are excellent. This was my second time in less than a year having the same sink snaked, and just like the first time, the plumber was professional, timely, neat, and successfully unclogged the drain. If you are in an emergency and need someone reliable who will get the job done right, they are definitely the way to go. However, I find it increasingly difficult to justify using them as a "go-to" service due to the lack of incentive for loyal customers. Paying full price for the same recurring issue within a single year feels steep. While the plumber did offer a $100 discount this time, that is a standard coupon amount I likely could have found elsewhere. What is more frustrating is that I've gone above and beyond to prevent this: * I purchased their proprietary maintenance cleaner (at 3x the price of standard retail cleaners) and used it exactly as instructed. * As a two-family household, we are extremely cognizant of what goes down our drains. * We previously used them for a major sewer line repair--a nearly five-figure job--less than five years ago. I would expect that level of history and investment to place us in a "high-value client" bracket with better pricing protection. The reality is that if it isn't an emergency, there are much more affordable options available for a standard drain snaking. Summary: Great quality and highly reliable, but the pricing model doesn't seem to value repeat customers or long-term loyalty. -- Jason

I hired Bill to install a pressure-reducing valve in my water closet. What should have been a…read morestraightforward 1-2 hour job turned into a frustrating, half-finished disaster that I'm still dealing with weeks later. First, the work itself is blatantly incomplete. The original setup had **two cutoff valves** before the meter for proper isolation and maintenance. Bill removed the second one without any discussion, explanation, or even a heads-up. No warning, no "Hey, this isn't necessary anymore," nothing--just gone. Now I'm left with a single valve in a configuration that makes future service or emergencies far more difficult and risky. When I asked why he eliminated it, the response was defensive mumbling instead of a clear answer. That alone shows a complete lack of respect for the homeowner's right to understand changes to their own plumbing system. Worse, the entire time he was here he complained nonstop. Whined about the access being "too tight," about the age of the house, about how "everything is always harder than it should be," about the weather outside, about traffic getting here--literally anything he could find to grumble about. It was exhausting. I wasn't asking for chit-chat; I was paying for quiet competence, not a running commentary on how much he hates his job that day. The constant negativity made what should have been a professional service call feel like I was inconveniencing him by existing. He left without cleaning up properly (dust and debris all over the floor), didn't test the system thoroughly in my presence, and--most importantly--never informed me of a major alteration he made to my shutoff setup. That's not just sloppy; it's reckless and unprofessional. I've had many tradespeople in my home over the years. This was easily one of the worst experiences. If you value clear communication, finished work, basic courtesy, and someone who doesn't treat your house like an imposition, **look elsewhere**. Bill may show up and do *something*, but you'll likely end up paying twice--once for his half-effort and again to have a competent plumber come fix what he broke or removed. Zero recommendation. Steer clear.
