I had an appointment to evaluate my gallbladder pain. Couldn't tell if he was a good doctor, I only saw his businessman abilities. From the moment he realized I was due for a colonoscopy, that was his only focus. He didn't want to talk about my concerns about the real purpose of the appointment until I did the colonoscopy and the endoscopy. It was very obvious they made good money by sending people to do these procedures. I am very disappointed with the way he conducted the consultation. I had to see a different doctor at UM to solve my medical problems. I do not recommend this doctor. read more

Saw this guy maybe 2 years ago and it was horrible enough to remember to this day. He is milking the system with his unethical practices (like not telling you how to prepare for the visit and then having you come back YET ANOTHER time shortly after and he gets paid by insurance 2x). I wish my insurance never paid him. He doesn't really help anyway, wouldn't look at my tests and was super quick and unpleasant to be around. Horrible doctor. Long wait times. Rude staff. Went to him a few times and each time we went to him we waited over an hour. Finally we are shown to a room & the nurse goes over your history. Finally Dooreck comes in and he looks over the chart, maybe asks a few questions, doesn't even examine you, orders tests. Then of course wants to schedule you for a follow up visit. Obviously no bedside manner. Very arrogant, crappy attitude. read more

My 2 cents... This was by far the very worst experience I ever had with a doctor. Didn't even shake my hand (first time ever) and didn't bother with examining me, no hands on, just talk. At the end of the meeting, he handed me a card with his social media account and even asked me to follow him on Facebook. Wasted my $40 copay! Tried to talk me out of getting a preventive procedure with another doctor so I could do it with him... He was far more concern with a Facebook/Yelp review. Dr Dooreck is more like a gastro monitor rather than a gastroenterologist. He tells you what your condition is, if anything, then tells you to find someone else to fix the problem. Waste of time for me I should have went to someone who also treats the issue not just tell you about it. This doctor did not spend enough time with me, after waiting more than half hour to see him, he rushed the visit in five minutes. He did not explain anything I needed to hear and just kept saying "my nurse will explain everything to you". The staff is rude and the entire office is poorly managed. I have been suffering from acid reflux and chest pains. My insurance sent me to a doctor who was completely unprofessional and I did not feel comfortable doing an endoscopy with him. I did extensive research on who my insurance will cover and the reviews on google. I found Dr. Dooreck and scheduled an appointment with him. Best choice ever! During consultation he provided nutritional education for ways to help my symptoms subside. I followed him social media and felt confident with the advise on food choices considering it was coming from a doctor and not some blogger! During my endoscopy all of the staff was completely professional and had great bed side manner. I was experiencing some anxiety prior to being put under anesthesia and the Doctors made me feel safe and in good hands. I highly recommend Dr. Dooreck and his staff! read more

Last thing I wanted to do today was a colonoscopy. Had actually never done one and it was 50/50 whether I was actually going to show up and do it. All I can say is the second to last thing I wanted or thought I would be doing is now a review for a colonoscopy- today is just full of surprises. Long story short - lot of worry for nothing. the preparation I drank is called Prepopik- there were two different types - this was recommended and it was perfectly fine and easy to drink. everything went well. Getting a hold of anyone to make an appointment here is a nightmare on it's own, that's assume you can get through the rude people that answer "doctors office" as if they are the only one in town. Dr. Dooreck was great! And when having the EGD/Colonoscopy, the medical center was really welcoming and super fast.

Terrible experience all around. I went in for a consult and Dr. Dooreck said that he would come back in the room and answer my questions once he printed out some material. He never came back, and the nurse was unable to answer even my basic questions. It is impossible to get a hold of any of the departments by phone, every time you have to leave a message and wait for them to call you back, no matter what department or what day and time. After waiting almost two months and having intermittent extreme pain, I went for my colonoscopy. They found no problems, to which I was relieved, but offered no real help in trying to get to the bottom of my problems other than recommending that I go see a nutritionist, because obviously it was something that I was doing wrong. I was also told that I would not receive a separate bill from anesthesiology, however I did receive a bill, while I was out of town, that got sent to collections when I didn't pay it within thirty days (I am a student who went home to visit family during the summer break). The bottom line is that they clearly overbook patients (if you get five minutes with the doctor for an office visit it's a miracle), and even on the day of my procedure I had to wait almost an hour to be able to ask Dr. Dooreck a follow-up question. The office staff has no compassion, and obviously do not enjoy their jobs, and at least a couple that I encountered were completely incompetent. Dr. Dooreck seems knowledgeable, but if he doesn't take the time to pass some of that knowledge to the patients it doesn't do anybody any good. I would not wish a visit to this office on my worst enemy! read more

Its taking close to 2 weeks for someone to return my calls and when I finally did get a call I had the worst experience, the rudest staff I have ever spoke to, it was like they ware doing me a favor by speaking to me! Forget getting an appointment, I was transfer to 4 different people before I got someone that gave me 2 minutes of her time only to transfer me again to a voice mail, I would never call or visit the possibility of trying to see Dr Dooreck or recommend anyone to his practice, they loose perspective that because of us the patients Is why they are in business they need to take a little class on ethics and learn how to treat paying clients. read more

If I could give him less than one star i would. When I went for my first appointment, I tried explaining what brought me there and all he wanted was yes/no answers to his questions even though my issues were more complex than a simple yes. He then told me he was going to schedule me for an endoscopy and afterwards, talk to me about ways to treat some of my issues in the meantime (ie diet change/weight loss) but he never came back to talk to me about these things. I then went for the endoscopy and afterwards, he said everything looked completely normal and i should keep up with the "diet changes we talked about" review him on yelp and to follow up in 2 months. Well, when I looked through the results of my procedure, it turns out he found quite a few issues like a hiatal hernia he never mentioned to me (mind you I have a family history of hernias so that information would have been really nice to know) My experience with Dr. Dooreck was the worst patient/doctor experience I've ever had. On October 22, Dr. Dooreck performed a colonoscopy on me, for which, as usual, I brought him a referral from my main doctor. The result of the colonoscopy was normal and Dr. Dooreck asked me to return on December 10 to discuss the results. I did so, and upon arrival the receptionist asked me for the referral. I told him that I had turned it in on the day of the colonoscopy, and he replied that I had to bring another referral for this appointment, which was obviously part of the same procedure as my colonoscopy. I asked to speak to someone about the matter and they told me that the right person was busy. After waiting for almost an hour and a half, a lady came to the window to insist that if I did not bring this second referral, the doctor could not attend me. The inconsiderate way the reception staff treated me was truly unspeakable. Dr. Dooreck must supervise those staff much more closely if he does not want to lose patients. For my part, I will not return to that clinic in which the humanitarian sense is not taken into account. read more

Made appointment with him due to his high ratings and had to wait weeks for it. Waited well over an hour while having to sit on the most cheapest and badly worn chairs I had ever seen in a waiting room. Finally cancelled my appointment and left. Never got to meet the Doctor but overbooking shows a complete lack of both compassion and consideration for patients and that tells me more than enough about him. Can't say much for his staff either. I was referred by my doctor to see Dr. Dooreck. At my first visit I waited 45 minutes to see him for only 5 minutes. He was rushed, made no eye contact and I felt very upset at the way I was treated. I decided that anyone can have a bad day so I went ahead and scheduled my colonoscopy/endoscopy with him. The day of the procedure everything was on time but again, he barely spoke to me prior to the procedure even though I asked a question. The anesthesiologist was very friendly, however, and I really liked him. After the procedure, again, Dr. Dooreck was rushed and I had many questions and he just snapped at me to make a follow-up appointment, which I did. I came prepared for this follow-up with my questions written down. I waited about 25 minutes to again see him for 5 minutes. He rushed through my questions and while I was still asking them he actually stood up and went to the door and just left me to talk to his nurse. He prescribed a new medication for me to take without telling me anything about it. I ended up very briefly talking to the nurse about it and explained to the nurse that my insurance would probably not cover it as it was a brand, Linzess, (I later discovered it would be $378 out of my pocket a month) and asked for a generic or something else. The nurse gave me 2 weeks worth of samples of the Linzess and that was that. So, I still have the same issue I had when I first went to the doctor and can't afford the medication he prescribed. With all 3 interactions with Dr. Dooreck, I left feeling that he was rushed, dismissive, uncaring, condescending and rude. read more

Excellence in healthcare! This was my first colonoscopy and I found everything to be relatively easy. From the consultation to the prep to the procedure, to the clean offices and facility, and the comfort of the Dr. and his staff it has all been a comfortable process. Dr. Dooreck came very highly recommended, and I now understand why. He is easy going, relaxed and yet remains professional at all times. His hours are very flexible, so there is ample opportunity for you to find the right fit for your schedule. Before I went, I always heard people say they didn't want to get this procedure done, and mostly because of the prep. However, I can honestly, it was such an easy process there is no reason to wait.
