The explanations kept changing and felt very misleading. I should have listened to the other reviews. I would not recommend this office.

For over a year, I experienced pain and both warm, cold sensations. I never asked for a "root canal" and got 2 the same day. During my initial visit, one girl was literally screaming, and I was in a chair, right beside her, all of my personal health info heard for miles around, with her ignorant self. Why are hygienists so dumb? I just noticed that about most of them. Anyway, she just spoke loudly and could barely pronounce words. That was my queue to run out of there. They need to shut the doors for good.

I scheduled it, and when I got home the dental assistant called and stated that the dentist didn't feel comfortable doing this procedure and that I should contact an oral surgeon to do the root canal and come back for the build up and crown. Yeah they got fired on the spot. That brings me to Oak Ridge... I had called numerous dentists spanning an area of 15 square miles, and everyone was either booked 4 weeks out, or wanted me to come in to look and see if they could do the procedure. I finally contacted Oak Ridge and they said that doctor Olsen would be able to do it the very next day, and that he had 30 years experience. Not only was it a speedy process from checking in to checking out, but the doc was confident, knowledgeable, and compassionate. If I felt pain he could tell and would try and work around it, making it a nearly painless procedure. I was also impressed with the staff from the assistant to billing. They, for some reason, proceeded to do what was later called a periodontal cleaning, which I did not ask for and cost much more while only being partially covered by my insurance. The dentist then tried to get me to take a numbing agent, for a cost, which I declined because. I never, ever needed one for a cleaning. It was also totally unnecessary for what they did, though the dentist commented on how most other patients needed the numbing agent. They cleaned half of my teeth and then told me I had to return the next day for the other half. I was perplexed, as I had never had a two day cleaning. There was nothing special about what they did. It took the same amount of time to do half of my teeth as any other cleaning (half cleaning) I'd ever had previously. I had time the next day, so I agreed to return, though I said this was new. The next day I returned and had the other half done. I left thinking my insurance covered the entire cleaning. I then received a bill in the mail for $640, the part of the "periodontal cleaning " my insurance didn't cover. I called and said, "What is this? I didn't ask for this.". They said they would cut my bill in half if I paid now with a credit card. Reluctantly, I said, "Send me a new bill." They would not do that. They wanted me to pay for something I never agreed to have done, specifically ignoring what I asked for. When I considered just paying the half, simply to be done with it, they remained shady and said pay now, and then we will change the bill. Later, my wife, covered by the same insurance, went to a reputable dentist, got a cleaning as asked for, and our insurance, as expected, covered it 100% Avoid Ideal Dental!

After discussing the numbness and its progression, she gently suggested that it might be Bell's Palsy. However, to rule out the very slight chance of a stroke, she advised me to have someone take me to the emergency room immediately. The staff were all extremely kind and professional, and they asked only that I call and update them on my condition after my ER visit. I felt genuinely cared for, and I believe that level of care is the best any industry can offer its customers. Oh and it is Bell's Palsy. I should be right as rain in a few weeks to a few months.

At no point did I question his judgement of whether I needed the crown, as I had a pretty deep cavity in a tooth that could not be repaired with a filling.
