Here you are away from the city, and close to amazing settings. Seeing the stars at night here, is truly an amazing experience! You can tent camp or rent a cabin. There are different sized cabins. My son and I went with the small one. It's basic but comfortable beds. Being next to the stream and trees is relaxing. Camp employee was friendly, and saw lots of beauty here and close by. Only complaint is shower house had no hot water. Yet every campground has its quirks, and am happy to recommend this place.

The first second we got there, the innkeeper was inviting and he offered us homemade cookies (which were sooooo good). Then he brought us to our room which was the Blue Ridge. The room was absolutely perfect and very clean. It had a gorgeous view of the mountains and the downtown area. We also ordered chocolate covered strawberries to celebrate my boyfriend and my 4th anniversary and they were very tasty-- we got 12 for $25. In the room also came a book with recommendations for restaurants, sites to visit around the area, and shopping. It also included how many miles away from the inn... very thorough! Breakfast was also amazing. Genuinely it was so so so good!! The scrambled eggs were fluffy, the pancakes with blueberry compote were so light and delicious, and who doesn't love bacon? They had coffee brewing at 7:00 am and had a wide variety of teas. Overall for our overnight stay, we paid I believe roughly $200 which seems totally worth it!! Especially in comparison to the other inns in the area. If we come back to the area, I will for sure go back to the Friendly City Inn!

I was a bit disgusted at having to use the same toilet paper as a stranger (aside from using a public restroom, I feel that this is different). The soap bar also looked like it had not been replaced, as when I opened the box to use it, it was already wet and smudged on the edges. The shower pressure is extremely hard and actually hurt to stand in there, and the doors wouldn't close all the way so the floor would practically flood. I had clothes on the floor to change into and they got soaked, and they were a good ways away from the shower door. Room is loud with thin floors and walls. There were also crumbs left on the rug in front of the couch that housekeeping didn't vacuum. Everything in my room also just seemed slightly damp, from the bed to my clothes to my shoes. My shoes were not damp before I brought them into the room. Someone attempted to enter my room (probably just got the wrong room number), but hotel staff did not seem concerned one bit when I called down to ask about it. I was a solo female traveler so I was very anxious about this! I also needed to shave off a day from my stay and they charged me an extra $125 to take OFF a day. They also play very loud techno upbeat music late at night in the "lobby" which was overstimulating coming in around 10:30-11:00 at night. I say "lobby" because when you walk in, it just looks like the snacks/drink stand to the right. I walked around trying to find the main desk, and there were 4-5 staff members standing at the desk chatting who watched me walk around and did not offer any help. The bed was okay (but I had to stack 3 pillows on top because they sink too much), and I did enjoy the blackout curtains and location in Harrisonburg. I did not try the restaurant or pool or gym. Overall I would not stay here again as there are literally 5-6 other hotels within view of my room that are most likely better!

We figured Days Inn would be more upscale. The good points to this is it's easily accessible and has great water pressure. The staff are also friendly and helpful. The bad points are the ticking sound from the fridge that goes all night long without pause and the electrical shorting sound that comes from the alarm clock. The towels are all like sand paper as well. The bed was your standard hotel bed. The room was freezing when we got here and took a few hours to warm up (not that big of a deal). This hotel was $25 more then what we've been spending and I doubt I'd spend that type of money again. :-(
