After years of Dalton Distillery being open, I finally made it a point to go try it out for a…read morepre-dinner drink. When I entered the establishment I was wowed at how cool the space is, I had no idea and honestly didn't have high expectations. The bar is decorated really cool with geometric wall designs and a giant hexagonal opening leading from one room to the other. Dalton Distillery also has Ping-Pong, a pool table, and video games. I had no idea. As I walked in, I was immediately curious as to how this place isn't more popular. There is plenty of seating with lots of chairs and a few couches. The Distillery is decorated with some cool furniture too and has some colorful graffiti murals. I am a very visual person and this place was surprisingly awesome inside. I'd love to come back with a group of friends for some Ping-pong and pool games! I was very happy to hear that my bourbon and gingers were only $4, a great deal that is a rarity in/near downtown Asheville. My friend ordered some of their housemade rum in a cocktail that neither of us enjoyed, but they have a pretty good beer selection so he left happy anyway. Overall this place was great and I can't wait to check it out again. I had to give Dalton Distillery 4 stars rather than 5 because the bartender was very unfriendly. I asked him many questions about the rum. I was very interested considering that they are a distillery and that is what they make, but he seemed annoyed by my questions and barely answered them. He talked to me in a way that was very arrogant and dismissive. I'd like to hope that next time I go in there is a different bartender or he has a better demeanor. Servers and bartenders play the role of being the face/representative of an establishment and for my first experience being here, there was not a good representation.

Food truck was friendly and we ordered up 2 of the specials, were given some wooden tokens to turn into the bartender for beers. Unfortunately, they could only be redeemed for a couple of canned mainstream beers and one local draft. Wish they would allow you to pay a buck or two more and allow a draft beer of choice, but it was fine. Sat at the bar and bartender never said 2 words to us, was busy chatting with some friends or locals at the other end of the bar. Burger and fries came quickly. Burger was just ok and fries were cold, so definitely no where near the best burger in town. It was a bit dry and had some basic iceberg lettuce and onion, nothing special. Finished our burgers and beers and headed somewhere else. Seems to be primarily a hangout for the locals?

The bathrooms were so clean (as was the entire pub) and inside had a cozy feel. The choices of beers on tap were endless and they even have decent daily drrink specials on rotation. The owners are present and take pride in their business and the entire staff work together well and are friendly and down to earth (unlike some of the other "bigger" bars). They have live music on the weekends and late night bar food and a pretty good menu during the day. I saw the employees eating fish and chips, so that is what I ordered and it did not disappoint! The chicken fingers were good for late night and fries are spot on (I am a fry snob). Cannot wait to visit again for food, friends, drinks and a great time! Shamrock Irons will not disappoint! Located in convenient but random spot, this dive bar is a hidden gem. There was one bartender working, and I believe her name was Gabi. She was an absolute star and complete hustler. She made drinks fast and was totally approachable and incredibly warm. The bar itself was very neighborhood like and clean, but with character. And characters. We ended up going on a karaoke night, and the host was wonderful. He was inclusive and fair and he got involved. The energy was felt by all. Seems like this place has a lot of regulars, and for good reason. While they don't surf through themselves, did you have food trucks sometimes. And they let us bring in some of our own snacks too. The drink prices felt very fair and they have a full bar. Would definitely come back here time and time again.
