We have 2 Mini-Australian Shepherds and one is very fear reactive as he was attacked on trails many times as a young puppy. We had other trainers tell us our male dog would never live a normal life and could never be around other dogs or children. Guiding Canines took the time to understand our dogs and create a meticulous training plan! They simulated real life situations since we had a baby on the way with noisy toys, crying dolls, strollers... the WORKS! We are so grateful for them! Our dogs did really well with the arrival of our son thanks to Guiding Canines! We stayed in contact with them and just moved to the East Coast. We were so excited to be near Guiding Canines again! They have taken care of our dogs and setup a follow-up training schedule while we get our house settled. They're extremely flexible but always keep the dogs best interest at the forefront. Recently, they helped facilitate a vet visit for one of our pups to get checked out. I highly recommend this team because they are truly phenomenal! We are forever grateful for them for allowing our dog to live a "normal life"!

Wanted to love dog culture and have a place to take my girls so they could play and socialize. They…read morego to unleashed dog bar all the time and love it, never have any problems with playtime there. I dropped them off for a behavioral assessment the first time and my pit mix failed, as she has an aggressive play style. We have been working for months to teach her to play better with all dogs and have socialized her a lot more since then. I brought both of them back for another assessment, explained to them they need a little time to acclimate to the new area and new dogs. Within NINE MINUTES, they called me to come pick her up and said she failed again. There was absolutely no effort on their part to try to give her a chance and acclimate and no knowledge of how dogs interact. If they had given her at least 30 minutes even, I would have been ok with the outcome but 9 minutes isn't enough to tell anything about a dog or their behavior in a new environment. It seemed as though they had a problem with her being a pitbull and saw her as a threat. I also watched the live cam at their Greenville location and they are completely overcrowded with way too many dogs in each bay. Will not recommend this place to anyone.

We love Happy Pup! Our pups have stayed there twice -- once for 10 days and another time for 6…read moredays. Lisa, one of the owners, is great at communicating both before and during our pups' stay. She's also great at meeting my husband and I and asking if we need help the moment we arrive. The indoor/outdoor shelter where our pups stay protects them from the elements and provides each of them with their own individual space. They are also given a long walk daily and provided a large area to play together. Every day, they are fed and given their medicine as prescribed. Our pups receive lots of attention and are happy to stay. Next time we need dog boarding services, we will return to Happy Pup.

The staff is excellent and the daycare is well priced for the amount of interactions and oversight the staff gives the pups. I am able to watch my dog from their cameras at work and she has a blast. There were injuries on many dogs that were covered up, and honestly I'm not sure if the owners ever knew the real cause of them. The play equipment and the yard in general was hazardous in many ways. Me and the other employees I worked with did care for the dogs but could only do so much about how it was actually ran...also employees were just straight up jipped and were never paid our full weeks worth of pay. Everyone I worked with at the time was suddenly let go for no real reason after all the chaos. I absolutely do not recommend this dog daycare by far. This "business" is not ran by dog professionals who know what they are doing. Please do your fur baby a favor and take them someplace else.

Our dog was recently certified and we want to help our neighbors through this long process! We previously appreciated our dog boarding at Upstate Dog Academy but we stopped going for several reasons. Positives: James at Upstate Dog Academy offers dog boarding in his home and has a yard for daily outings. Negatives: We started with lessons at Upstate Dog Academy but we later found that other area dog trainers offer classes with a mix of more positive reinforcement and our dog started making more progress once we switched. Also, our dog just didn't seem to be getting the same amount of outdoor time here as at other kennels. On our last visit for boarding, our dog looked visibly distressed as we pulled in the driveway and we decided we would not be going back. *Routes to Therapy Dog Certification: 1. Attend private lessons for beginner through Therapy Dog and then get certified through Alliance of Therapy Dogs (ATD) via Noble Dog Hotel. This is the more expensive option. 2. Attend classes at Astro Kennels, then take Therapy Dog class at Petsmart in Mount Pleasant, SC, and then contact a private ATD evaluator through the ATD website. This is the cheaper option.
