William Hoyt Bagel & Brew - Hot Pig on plain bagel

Best bagels I've had in Texas (6 years here). Big in size, big variety, great flavors of cream…read morecheese on offer - I was impressed. I actually bought two dozen bagels to share with my crafting group and I think everyone liked them very much. The cheddar bagel with the lemon dill cream cheese was so yummy and their blueberry cream cheese was great on the sweeter bagels on offer. The shop was clean and inviting, staff was helpful and kind. Highly recommend!

As a New York native, I was genuinely excited to see William Hoyt Bagel & Brew open here in Temple…read more Having access to a dedicated bagel shop in the community is something I've missed, and overall there's a lot to like about this place. One of the biggest positives is the drive-thru, which makes it incredibly convenient for busy mornings. The staff has always been friendly, welcoming, and professional. It's also clear that this is a faith-based business, which adds a warm and uplifting atmosphere that's refreshing to see in a local establishment. The bagels themselves are pretty good, and the coffee is solid as well--definitely satisfying when you're craving a proper bagel and a good cup of coffee. That said, the biggest concern is the pricing. For Temple, Texas, the prices feel far too high. Paying over $6 for a bagel with cream cheese just isn't reasonable for this area, and I worry that pricing like that may make it difficult for the business to stay open long term. I truly hope they're able to adjust this, because I would love to see them succeed and remain part of the community for years to come. Overall, I'm grateful to have a real bagel shop here, and I hope William Hoyt Bagel & Brew can find the right balance so more people can support and enjoy what they've built.

I've been on a bagel kick lately and was on my way back from Round Rock and passed by to grab some…read more While it's better than your supermarket bagels by a mile, felt like they were very so-so compared to other bagel shops in Austin area. Price definitely feels on the high side for a bagel for sure. Got a variety - onion, plain, blueberry, chocolate chip, sesame, everything. And nothing really stood out - the caramelized onion one was probably the most unique bagel, but wet and slimy caramelized bagels on top vs incorporated into the dough is not a feeling one likes. It's got some good crust and decent chew, but again, nothing mind blowing among bagel shops and again, the price kinda hurts for what it is. If I lived up in the area, probably would scratch the carb itch, but probably not my go to.

I really wanted to like these bagels. They have a perfect shine on them and were a great size…read more The sesame bagel was completely covered in sesame seeds, a detail I've seen other bagel shops fail at. The varieties available are terrific, as are the different options of cream cheese. When I saw all the menu options for bagel sandwiches, I was excited to come back and try them. The restaurant seemed to have such potential for me. However, the dough used had an unpleasant flavor to me, so I found the bagels inedible. The bagels looked like they were wheat-based. Perhaps this was an off-batch. The store was very clean and open. The service was top-notch. I found parking to be very easy. You'll notice other reviews rave about the flavor, so I hope I just got a bad batch; that said, I'm simply not willing to roll the dice and go back to see if that was the case.

Being from NY/NJ, I've had my share of bagels, and while this is a nice sandwich, it isn't a bagel. It isn't boiled, it misses the chew and the crust of a good bagel and really just doesn't hit the spot. Again, lovely sandwich roll, but not a bagel.

I'm not going to speak of their espresso coffee machine bc...I guess I've become a bit of a coffee snob, but I've now visited on 2 occasions and feel comfortable speaking to the bagels. The sesame is fine with lox cream cheese, and the lox sandwich on onion was a filling breakfast. I additionally tried the chocolate pastry, and while they were kind enough to warm it for me, I likely would not order it again. It resembles a pain au chocolat if you compressed all of the fluffy, flaky layers. I came at the best time, because right after I ordered a steady and I mean steady hoard of locals arrived. They seem to stay busy! The couple who ordered after me, did receive their order before me and I felt somewhat unwelcome (still not sure what it was my first visit), but my second visit was fine. As the closest bagel shop to me, I'm sure I'll be back!
