Breathe Deeply is more than Pilates; it is also a place to work on body realignment and strength to address chronic issues. The first time I went there, I was afraid that as a Rubenesque boomer I'd feel out of place. No way. Everyone was welcoming and respectful and I was delighted to be in the company of other people in my demographic and condition, as well as younger, fitter people. I've been having extraordinarily helpful private sessions with Cody Jussel. Cody is the right trainer for me. She is a highly educated corrective/adaptive movement professional with deep knowledge in kinesiology, dance, pilates and other modalities. It's a financial investment, but it's worth it to me to avoid surgical and other treatments. read more

Breathe Deeply Pilates is superb. All the trainers are knowledgeable, very pleasant, and encouraging. Summer, the proprietor, manages the facility qite well while still maintaining a relaxed, supportive environment. I have spent a relatively long life being very active physically, maintaining my strength and stamina with a variety of sports and exercises, and now I find that I have many muscle groups that I have left unattended. Summer is helping me become more balanced, which is a terrific. Mike A. read more

A very special place, clean, close to home, great hours, delightful teachers and students ! They got me hooked. it out !!

I signed up for Pilates classes as a complete novice and had just a few private classes at the studio before the pandemic shut everything down. My instructor was (and is) Summer Doty and she impressed me immediately with her knowledge of the human body and her ability to assess my issues. Zoom classes began soon after the shutdown and have continued ever since. I love the Zoom mat classes and Summer never misses a beat, still keeping an eye on her clients and making sure that our form is correct. I don't know where I would be physically right now without the continuation of those classes. I am grateful to Summer and Breath Deeply Pilates! read more

My wife convinced me that I should take a trio group of Pilates at BDP with her. To say I was hesitant to go was an understatement. I have a history of back surgery, knee and ankle surgery. Here I am almost a year later still taking the class with Cody. She is awesome, she explains all the moves and what the benefits are, every appointment she asks how our body is feeling and works that appointment around our latest pain. Can't say enough positive things about Cody. My range of body movements are better than they have been in years. Steve read more

Breathe Deeply Pilates is the where it's at! All of the instructors offer the best instruction in movement and foundational strength. Not only do they meet every client where they are at they facilitate a clear path to help each client achieve their goals in a positive and inspiring environment. You'll be hooked after one session, I promise. read more

I don't have enough superlative adjectives in my vocabulary to describe Summer and Cody. The private, duo and group in person sessions were amazing. I was concerned that the Zoom platform would decrease the viability of the sessions, but you really can't get away with improper form. Summers ability to cue and humorously correct form is professional and just plain spectacular! I attribute my flexibility and positivity in large part to my almost daily practice of Pilates with Summer and Cody. read more

Hmm...do I write honestly and chance Breathe Deeply gets flooded with new customers making it harder to book sessions or do I selfishly trash 'em to turn customers unjustifiably away so I can get MY sessions? Hmm. I have to go with the former and take my chances. Pilates makes me feel alive. And Breathe Deeply is my ticket to a more vibrant life. May I not regret being honest! read more

Love, Love, Love this studio!!!!! I would go everyday day if I could. I feel the best when I do pilates reformer. I have been going here for years and I have never been disappointed.. read more

My first venture into indoor exercise since the pandemic & so happy I did! The studio was very clean and proper covid protocol so I felt safe. First time working out in a mask but wasn't so bad. I took a Group apparatus class, (my first Pilates class) with Jenny & she's such a fantastic teacher. Patient, explained how to use the equipment properly and give corrections when needed. I'm officially hooked on Pilates now! read more

This is my second year anniversary at Breathe Deeply Pilates. I appreciate the ease in which my account is taken care of, I never have to worry about a check book or credit card, But the real issue is how professional the staff are in keeping my 77 year old body straight and strong. I usually work with Summer, the owner and she is amazing at picking up on any issue that may be troubling your body and working it out throughout the class. Come on and try Breathe Deeply Pilates, you will love it and your body will thank you. Barbara, Soquel read more

I've been doing Pilates on the machines and mat for over 8 years; I've taken Pilates from a variety of different teachers and studios from Canada, the U.A. and Mexico. In Santa Cruz alone I've worked out at 4 different studios. None of the teachers compare to the Pilates I've done with Summer from Breathe Deeply. She is the owner/teacher and her passion and knowledge of anatomy and Pilates is amazing; she can look at your body and see the slightest anatomical correction that needs to be made! For someone who has been doing Pilates as long as myself this is such a treat; I am constantly learning from her. Also when my neck or back has gone out, she is able to help my body readjust itself without going to a chiropractor! I cannot recommend this studio enough. Also they have great reformer classes and a variety of teachers. Depending on your needs or your pocket book you can do privates or group classes with 4 other people! read more

Wonderful place! I've been coming to Breath Deeply Pilates for about a year. As a total beginner with injuries this is just what I needed. I'm able to do all of the exercises or they will find one that accommodates my injuries. I love the staff. Everyone is so welcoming. I work with Cody but all of the instructors are amazing. The place is bright and very clean. You will love this Pilates studio. read more

I have a friend that has 3 kids and is the most amazing shape. She told me that integrates pilates into her normal workout at least once a week. So, naturally I was intrigued. She referred my to Aine (pronounced On-yah) at Breathe Deeply. I called and spoke to Aine and she informed me that before I took the beginner mat class ($20 per session) that I needed to take 4 intro classes ($140) in order to make sure I learned the breathing and movements properly. Well, my first thought was to call around and check prices. Other places told me to come right in to their beginner class. So, I felt comforted knowing that Breathe Deeply didn't just want me to be another customer. But, they wanted me to learn the proper techniques. I have since completed my 4 intro classes and 2 beginning mat classes. Let me say, I am sore! I am learning how hard you can work with just your own body weight and resistance. PLUS, I just had a friend make a comment at the beach that "Cynthia looks like she has been working out!" read more

I had been doing Pilates for about 2 years before the pandemic at a studio in downtown SC a few minutes from my house. They closed and when gyms and studios began to be opened, the Breathe Deeply Pilates studio was recommended to me. I live on the westside of town and was hesitant to drive all the way to Rio del Mar for classes, but I am so glad that I did. The classes are absolutely terrific. I have had back problems for 40 years, and while the first studio helped with those, Breathe Deeply has done so much more. I have muscles in places I didn't know I had muscles and I feel the best I have in years which I never expected as I am in my 70s. Summer is a fantastic instructor and while the classes are difficult for me, the benefits to my overall health have been amazing. read more

This business had been my saving grace during Covid 19 to keep my body feeling healthy and able to move!! When the virus hit, my original Pilates Studio unfortunately had to close it's doors and it took a few months before I had the courage to reach out to another studio. Breathe Deeply Pilates was recommended to me, and I am so thankful I made the call and set up a session. I first was so appreciative of the seriousness they took to confront operating during a pandemic, and how safe they made it for all their customers. But beyond that, the teaching I get is fantastic and exactly what I had been missing from my last studio. I am so appreciative to the owner and her communication and care, the owner of the remote studio that makes it safe to practice, and to Kendra, my teacher that has been such a perfect, knowledgeable, challenging teacher that always brings her best to every class. Thanks so much to Breathe Deeply Pilates for this experience and for keeping bodies feeling healthy and mobile!!! read more

Jenny was great! Took private sessions with her gearing up to my wedding last year. I wanted to challenge my body outside of cardio and weight training. She was patient and wonderful to work with. The studio is clean and lovely. Enjoyed it very much! read more

This is a quality place. The instructors are professional, friendly and always concerned for the welfare of their students. Summer is awesomely intuitive about the body and offers workarounds and exercises for improving chronic issues. I love exercising while laying down (!) and always enjoy my time there. read more

Great small classes and clean studio with a variety of equipment and accessories. The owner, Summer, is very creative and intuitive. I am relatively new to the studio even though I have been practicing for many years and I learn new movements in every class. Summer provides cues that allows me to access more muscle groups, attain better alignment, and have more awareness of my individual body's needs. Classes are well paced and fun! read more

So happy I found this great small studio. Summer Doty, the owner, has a unique style and great ability to give individual cues to correct alignment that help you get more from each exercise, as well as prevent injury. Her intermediate classes are appropriately challenging and always varied. Kendra Kirk gives a lovely, flowing class that always gets your entire body and leaves you feeling lengthened as well as worked out. The studio has springboards, which are like the tower, but much easier to adjust so you have time for more exercises. Lots of Pilates toys add variety, challenge, and fun to all the classes. read more

Summer is a gifted teacher; upbeat and fun. She is very knowledgeable about physiology and movement, enabling me to get the most out of each exercise. Her cues and corrections are right on. I always look forward to my Pilates classes and have referred friends to her studio. read more

With over 35 years in the fitness industry, I can say that Summer and her staff are top notch. The studio is always immaculate and they keep things very professional. But their, teaching is like no other I have experienced in Pilates. They are continually being trained themselves. I went to them for 4 years while living in the Aptos area and my body has missed them the past year and half, as I have moved away. So for me, being in isolation in Tahoe and to be able to practice with them once again on Zoom has been a complete game changer for me. I cannot say enough good things. Thank you Summer and Cody for being in my life once again. read more

I am new to Pilates and selected this studio on the basis of reviews and locality. I was extremely impressed by my first sessions with Summer Doty. She listened to my long list of injuries and tuned into my body right away. I am hardly a spring chicken and I thought she was great in working with my aging body. It is a very clean, bright studio, with extremely knowledgeable instructors. Everyone is so positive and supportive. It is a great studio. read more

Summer and Cody are SO attentive to how we are moving our bodies and are wonderful at making sure we are getting the maximum benefit from what we do. And if you've never done Pilates, you'll find out it's real work with real benefits. After my spinal fusion surgery this is the thing that has helped keep my body strong and capable for the past 10 years. My wife and I also did Pilates in Australia, but we could not find better instructors and here in Aptos at Breath Deeply Pilates. read more

I've been working out at this studio for about eight months and it's made a huge difference in my life. I never thought I would be someone who would say this because I don't really like working out or exercise, though I have enjoyed the results of Yoga. However, this practice, with this instructor, Summer, has made a transformation in my stamina, less back pain, and strengthening. This woman has a gift for figuring out what type of work, at what level, and with what people, one needs to succeed. She has the ability to identify where you need strengthening and how. I really respect her experience, her work ethic and the tone she sets here. Try it. read more

After a year of physical therapy with no better results for my chronic back pain, my doctor recommended Pilates, though only from a "master instructor" he said. Though Summer chuckled at the terminology, as apparently not a term used in Pilates, but I believe she is a true master--intuitive, extremely knowledge and able to explain precise movements for us to understand. Highly recommend. read more

I have been training with Summer at Breathe Deeply Pilates, for over a year now. I was recommended by a close friend to go to Breathe Deeply, for severe back pain after an MRI diagnosed with multiple bulging disks. At that time I was fearful that the slightest wrong movement might end me up in bed for a week. During my time at Breathe Deeply I have learned and been given the tools to correct my posture, strengthen my core, loose weight, and begin to trust my body once again. Now when my body aches, I don't grab the ice pack, I sign up for class! Breathe Deeply is full of wonderful energy, friendly clients, and gifted instructors. read more

I have been wanting to try Pilates for over a year and finally took the plunge a few weeks ago. Wow!! I was so sore after my first session and my abs actually had a cut. The studio is immaculate with brand new top of the line gear. The requirement for 4 intro private classes at a discounted rate is well worth it to make sure one is ready for a group experience. My classes are with Sandra Larson and she is wonderful. She always greets me with a big smile and positive attitude and let me tell you, after a stressful work day, It is so nice to have the personal attention and carrying that I have been getting from each class. I am also learning about parts of my anatomy that I did not know "needed work". Sandra is all about really targeting those spots, while saying, "isn't that nice?" I am very pleased with the passion she and experience she is sharing with me and have now signed up for a series. Definitely wanted to share what a nice experience I am having. read more

I would give them 10 stars if it was an option! I had been doing pilates for 7 years at other studios then found Summer at Breathe Deeply. She makes the other places seem like preschool!
