Instructors continue to change - not very friendly or personal- Keep hoping it changes read more

For a "high-end boutique" studio I have been attending for a year now as of this month, the past year there have been a lot of recurring issues. First off, do not get me wrong, I absolutely love taking my spin cycle class and the two instructors I'll ever go to (Deborah Bredy & Lindsey Bridges) sometimes three when Makenzie instructs, and I have tried the other instructors out and they are NOT for me. For the last year I have watched, experienced, heard from other peers, etc. that the upkeep of the facility is not up to par with; bikes always being broken (for long periods of time), men's and women's restrooms not being up to par with what the customers need; soap (hair & body) in the shower consistently (that is not watered down), water/moisture proof cabinets (that do not collect mildew), more cabinets and add coat rack(s) for their students on the wall by the storage closet by the TRX room and spin class, and let me share with you, a membership here cost a lot more than my membership at Chaminade. So I would assume, sorry for assuming, to have consistency of machines working. Throughout the year I cannot repeat how many times the spin class bikes have been out of commission, them overbooking this specific class, not knowing how many bikes are out of services on the regular, peers sharing with the front desk on what is broken, peers of mine who don't share because, they are simply uncomfortable to do so, and seeing/watching so much miscommunication from student to staff to upper management. It's getting old and fast! When we pay for our membership we don't expect but, demand for the equipment to work consistently - that is not a lot to ask for. It honestly is not, it's common sense. Sorry for being so blunt but, sometimes being blunt gets things done. On another note, I have missed classes because, bikes have been out of service yet not stated they are out of commission but, booked instead for operation. I have used three bikes throughout the past year that were marked as "usable" and were out of commission. My lower back KILLED me the entire 45 minutes. Now that is dedication for one to really like a class, however almost being 40 and sucking up the pain three times I will not do that anymore. It was NOT worth it for the price I pay and others to have bikes that work. People love these classes, as I do, and want to attend these classes. Why, because they are amazing and so much fun! This studio is fantastic! It's sad to see so many negative reviews. Hot Elevation Studios has full schedules daily of an eclectic mix of many classes of many modalities. Cycle, Barre, Pilates, Sculpt, Yoga, HITT and more. I particularly enjoy Mara's classes (especially Saturday Barre, hope to see you there!). Mara was named by Good Times Magazine as one of the top yoga teachers in Santa Cruz, for good reason! I have also been able to attend classes by Wesley, Lee, Michelle, Tate and Bijou, who are all masterful in their own right. The staff behind the counter is super friendly. I have practiced hot yoga for the better part of 10 years now and have been a lifelong competitive athlete.. I've tried numerous hot workouts/pilates/yoga studios in the Santa Cruz & San Jose area and Hot Elevation has exceeded my expectations in every way possible; from the variety in classes/workouts to the choice of room temp & level of cleanliness to all the excellent instructors... an amazing workout (coming from a D1 athlete). I would also like to compliment management in that they truly listen to any questions/concerns/comments that arise and go out of their way to help you all the while providing personable and transparent communication. I've been attending cycling classes here for nearly 2 years. Cycling here is really different depending on the instructor... you have Lindsay, Mackenzie, Michelle and Deborah who seem to prep their classes ahead of time, change their music and have a beat driven class. Other instructors seem to just do the same old thing with lowwwww music and classes that just aren't motivating. I wish the cycle classes would evolve into this decade! The studio is really bare bones for what you pay for... no filtered, cold water? no amenities at all? The wipes are always out, bikes are broken in some way and it's just the same old thing where you pay so much and get so little. If it weren't for the instructors above, I would go elsewhere but they keep me coming back. Hoping the new location is better - fingers crossed! read more

UPDATE: removing a star because I was contacted by the studio asking me to remove my review. My review is fair and true. This is truly inappropriate for a business. I have also notified yelp customer support as this is clearly a violation of yelp's policies. Yelp is a place for fair and honest reviews of customer experiences to help others get a feel for a business. I stand by my review and believe it will help others make informed choices. As a note, I will not be returning to this studio as now I feel threatened by management and am losing out on my $108 month pass. Yelp advised me to turn off business commenting to avoid harassment from the business, as evidenced by other reviews. Now I just wish I could get my lost $108 back. Please- go to literally any other Hot Yoga studio in the county/ they are all better than this place by 1000%- off ethics alone. This studio has been a totally mixed experience for me. Staff are kind and friendly. The classes, even with the same name, vary SO MUCH in content and difficulty. I wish they would figure out a way to title classes by style/level/difficulty or direct students better to an appropriate level. There is no instruction on form, posture, or poses- classes are built on the idea you are extremely experienced. If I were a beginner, it would have been one and done for me. Every class is called all levels but I've practiced for 20 years and do not agree. I feel like a total beginner here. They advertise Yin but do not offer it- which was really disappointing because that's my favorite and what I was hoping to take here. My first day I was not offered an orientation to the studio or made to feel welcome as a new student. The studio is not clean; they also expect students to do the cleaning for them (not the norm with other hot yoga studios- who have staff or front desk staff mop and clean between classes.) This studio is also extremely rule oriented and strict, and overly expensive. I heard the new student special was $40 and went to try it out, but then was charged $108. Almost 3x what I was expecting. They obviously have a steady following- so they are not hurting... I see this as a trendy, expensive studio for well off, very experienced folks. Very LA vibes. Not a local/Santa Cruz neighborhood studio by any means. There is something for everyone. This place was not for me. (This was originally a 3 star review but I took a star off once I noticed the owner responds harshly and negatively to clients on here and shames them. That is not okay, never ever okay, and is so incredibly unprofessional and leaves me with a very bad taste for this business.) read more

I've had a love/hate with this studio since moving to Capitola. This review is being written by a late twenty-year-old who makes below the middle-class income, who is an ex-athlete, travels for work and gets to frequent yoga and fitness studios globally and nationally** 1. The front desk staff are most pleasant and inclusive staff around. I know they don't get paid enough seeing what this studio pays on hiring ads but they still provide the best customer service. 2. The classes coming from a fitness stand point are awesome. The teachers are also awesome. This is a difficult studio if you're a beginner to this kind of fitness I'll be honest there isn't much instruction on correct form, but if you have the basics down the classes will consistently kick your butt and make you feel great. I do wish they did a playlist training though.. (lol) It really makes a workout, and only a few instructors have that down. 3. For the price they don't offer any vinyasa or yin classes. It's true power yoga which is a workout. For how much I'm paying there's days I wish there was a yin class or a more traditional flow class being offered. The slow flow is too slow or missing the yin portion, and the power is too power some days. 4. ok PRICE. It's outrageously expensive. They just raised the price which puts it out of the price range I'm able to pay which is so disappointing. Everything cost something at this studio even with the unlimited month.. you forgot your mat- you pay. You forget your towel, you pay. They say the sinks are filtered water but what gym do you pay over $200 for that doesn't have a filtered water refill station?! The bathrooms are so small. Two showers with no shampoo, one sink and two toilets. To go on about price you can get the studio slightly cheaper if you commit to 6 months or 12 months at an auto rate or paying in full for the year. I can't make that commitment because of my work schedule and a lot of my friends who are athletes would love to come here consistently but they don't offer anything that makes it worth it if you travel. There's no local price, 2-week membership price or an affordable by the month price. Let alone, a lot of people that would greatly benefit from Pilates and heated workouts can't afford to that kind of commitment. They can make whatever prices they want but at the cost you can go to a gym that provides more luxury in the amenities with the showers and what they offer. All you get here are the classes then most likely have to drive home to shower. I get really frustrated with the yoga/pilates culture that makes one of the best workouts elitest. Clearly it draws a middle-aged wealthy clientele at this studio and there's no place for diversity and inclusion of anyone else at this price point to join this studio. I wish this place would set a standard for valuing community in Capitola as much as it did for its level of their workouts. read more

I love this studio. I've been practicing hot yoga for about 12 years, starting in Chicago and enjoying studios all over, and I always learn something new in every session. I started practicing yoga at this studio when it was still Pure Power. I loved working out there! Then the floors were redone and the studio improved even more. But nothing has been done to maintain the hot room or locker rooms since then. Paint is peeling, the floor boards are separating, and rust on the vents is noticeable. The shower curtains are brown with grime. One of the shower heads is held up with rubber bands and often falls down. It's been like that for years! The most recent sign of wear that is most bothersome is the rust on the dumbbells. The rubber coating has peeled off and metal/rust is exposed. The rust leaves stains on my towels and sometimes on my shirt. I really wish they could be replaced. I bought my own dumbbells because i was tired of ruining my yoga gear. And the ants...they've always been a problem. I'm more forgiving about the ants because the weather plays a role in their attendance. The studio fees are very high so i would think some maintenance would be very affordable. Hopefully I see some improvements. There are a few new hot yoga studios in the area, so perhaps the competition will demand improvements. read more

The studio is filthy. The owner, Jeanette, admitted to me yesterday that THEY DO NOT CLEAN THE STUDIO except when they mop once a day. They hold 12 full, sweaty classes in that room every day with hundreds of people. All the owner sees fit to do to clean in between classes is to have a dry towel pushed around the floor with someone's FEET, to mop up sweat. They leave only 15 minutes between hot classes so they can make more money, rather than properly clean. I went there at least once a week for Thomas' hot 26 classes (he's great) but was constantly disappointed in the lack of cleanliness in the studio & restroom. I would take paper towels & wipe up tons of hairballs from the floor before class, Ewwww. I only went there 'cuz it was across the street & I've practiced for over 20 years so I needed a convenient spot. But I'd have to shower again at home because I felt so dirty even after showering at their studio (& with hairballs always in their shower). The owner, Jeanette, is obviously only in it for the $$ & does not care whatsoever about the customer experience. When I asked more than once for a cheap fan in the women's locker room, I was ignored. When I brought it to Jeanette's attention that they were out of soap during the height of Covid, she rudely said it was "on backorder" & I could bring my own. WHAT? There are multiple stores right by the studio where she could have bought some soap if she cared at ALL about her customers or cleanliness. When I pointed out more than once that there are hairballs allll over the studio floor, she smugly claimed that each yogi is responsible for bringing their own CLEANING TOWEL to clean up after themselves after class. Umm, what? Jeanette has zero conscience about letting hundreds of people roll around in each other's sweat, bacteria, & germs, & is VERY defensive & rude if you ask questions. How lazy, careless, greedy & stingy can you possibly be as a business owner?! She's also been defensive & rude every time I've spoken to her. So yesterday another yogini (Barb) pointed out all the hairballs as she saw me cleaning around my mat before class & asked me to go say something with her. We did, but the kids at the front desk don't care or report that to the boss, so after class I happened to see the owner Jeanette & let her know myself-respectfully-that while I really enjoy Thomas' classes, the floors are really dirty & that that day in particular was REALLY bad. But instead of saying "We'll try to do better, thank you," she told me that this isn't the studio for me, three times. I told her that it's normal for her ego to just reject what I'm saying/me rather than take it in & walked away. I handled myself well & am proud I spoke up for the greater good. She had her employee send me an e-mail barring me from the studio, saying I was "hostile," which is hilarious. I wasn't going to return to that filthy place & give her one more dollar anyway. Maybe now they'll learn to clean properly, or the Health Dept. can teach them. Jeanette only cares about money, isn't professional, is not acting in integrity, & is an unsuitable business owner, for many reasons. read more

I have attended classes over the years at Hot Elevation Studio and have slowly watched this studio decline. A majority of the teachers are great and I enjoy the classes. My concern is over the cleanliness of the studio, more specifically the hot yoga room. It's evident that the floors are not cleaned between classes (gross) and I often am stepping over puddles of sweat and loose hairs on the floor from previous students taking the prior class. To top it off, the ceiling is showing significant signs of deterioration... holes have accumulated in the ceiling where moisture is puddling. There are significant areas of damage in the ceiling due to the consistent moisture in the room. Droplets of water form all over the ceiling, falling on me multiple times throughout class - YUCK. Given the exuberant cost to attend classes here, I have high expectation's for the studios basic upkeep and hygiene standards. The ceiling has likely accumulated mold spores that students are inhaling!!! This is supposed to be a place where the community can improve their health and wellbeing. I asked the yoga instructor after class if she was aware of any plans of the ceiling getting fixed and I was met with an abrasive response that "they barely pay me to teach classes here" and to "bring up my maintenance concerns with the front desk." I had already done that and the front desk acted clueless about the obvious presenting condition of the studio. Honestly, I will be taking my business elsewhere where many of the same teachers instruct classes and present to be happier and treated better (in a studio that has higher standards for cleanliness and where I can be comfortable in the space I'm practicing)! read more

I debated if I should write this review, but I just couldn't hold it in. It's been a few months since my family and I ( 5 of us ) have been going to the studio, 2 to 3 days a week for only cycling classes. I tried to reach out to the owner to ask if we could get a family discount, ( I had knee surgery back in Fabriurey and was only interested in Cycling ), I even had many talks with the so-called manager (whom I found out later through a friend of mine is the son of the owner ) about the same issue, well she never bothered to contact me. I finally sent her a direct email weeks ago just to be ignored again. basically for 3 classes of cycling per week, she was charging us $230 per month per person, between me, my girlfriend, and my older son alone ( not including my younger son and my daughter ) we have been paying $790 per month ( about 10K per year ). We finally stopped going there and joined "GOAT" on 17th ave and it's been an absolute joy being in a place that is professional, the owners are amazing and it's affordable. I've had a membership at Bay Club in Los Gatos for years which is a beautiful gym, well it's more like a resort, and believe it or not, it doesn't cost much more than what we've been paying at this studio. I have never met the owner, but based on the way she runs her business, I can assure you this studio won't last long. She rather losing almost 10K per year than appreciate returning committed guests. wow!! in all the years that I have owned several businesses, never have experienced such nonsense and a lack of care and integrity. I can only describe this woman in three words. GREEDY, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND RUDE!!! good luck lady, you are going to need it!! read more

The classes here are great and the teachers are great. Especially the cycle classes. My only problem was that I signed up for a 6 month membership and needed to cancel the last month due to moving out of state. I showed up and was told to come back at a later time and due to my work schedule and moving, I was unable to. However, I called 3x, different days and left a voicemail each time explaining the situation and what I needed. No one called me back or reached out. I did not get my money back for that last month. I'm very disappointed to have left on that note. It feels dishonest and that my situation was taken advantage of as an easy way to keep money. I would love to give this place higher ratings for the teachers alone as they do a phenomenal job and I did love my classes. Just don't appreciate the lack of communication and management. read more

Let me start off by saying these classes will work you! In a good, feeling accomplished type of way. I did the new student special, so unlimited classes for a month. I had the opportunity to take from many of the instructors, none have disappointed. My only complaint is the heat- which sounds silly. I do and have practiced in the past with heated power Pilates/sculpt classes. But this studio by far is the hottest one. I understand that is the point, however I am positive many of the classes go over the temperature they're set to be. I have even gone to the 6:30am classes trying to avoid the popular classes (the hotter classes) to find it packed! Good for the studio, but perhaps investing in a fan, or the occasional opening of the door. I think I would get more out of the studio if it was 5-10 degrees cooler, and I didn't have to step out of class all the time. I also have gone into a class with the floor pretty wet with sweat from the previous class. Won't kill me but kind of gross. I also wish they had a filtered water station instead of the bathroom sink... But other than those points, studio is great and teachers are motivating. I wanted to give this studio the benefit of the doubt and try it despite having multiple friends tell me I shouldn't go. I should have listened! I have tried MANY yoga studios in the Santa Cruz area, so I was expecting the usual easy-going accepting environment....Hot elevations is the most judgemental, toxic studio by far. Not only do they shame you if you can't complete the routine, but also I felt very violated and disrespected by the owner and manager. He (the manager) seemed to treat his employees/customers a little more than platonic. I experienced this when I tried to sign up for a more complex class and he commented inappropriately on my body size. On a separate occasion, I overheard a conversation between him and a worker in which he was basically fat-shaming some of the more curvy women. If you are not skinny, a size 2, or have any self-respect, I wouldn't try this studio. With the treatment of customers and the strict regime they abide to, it has the potential to come across more like a cult than a place of tranquility and acceptance. Besides, there are so many other studios in Santa Cruz that offer the same new student special and provide a much better experience. read more

This review is only for the cycling class. It was my first time here. I decided to do a drop in class for cycle beats. I was a little bummed they don't offer a free first class but I understand that a business needs to make money. Additionally, I thought it was weird that you have to decide right then and there before your first class starts if you wanted to do the new student special and wouldn't be able to apply it if you did the drop in class first. I like to be able to see the flow of how a studio works before committing to it. There was no studio tour offered...even though I was 20 minutes early. Anyways, the check in process was very easy and fast which is always nice. The ladies at the front desk were welcoming and friendly and very courteous. The studio itself seems small. A hot yoga class had just finished and it would be nice if maybe they had more ventilation as it did not smell pleasant. Again, I know-- hot studio. But tbh, it was a turn off. The cycle room is two doors down from the main entrance which is fine. But walking in, there were trash bags of dirty/clean towels on the floor right by the door? Not a great way to be welcomed. Not sure what that was about...but again, kinda gross. There were also boxes stacked against the wall which I thought was strange. There was one studio assistant frantically cleaning the floor. I felt bad that she was the only one in there cleaning. But maybe they were short staffed since it was a holiday? Onto the class! So the instructor Shauna was great! She was helpful with setting up my bike and offered suggestions on how to approach the class. I loved her energy and she gave clear instructions on where your rpm and resistance should be at. I appreciated that attention to detail. She was motivating! It was a great workout. At the end there were two small baskets. One had cold towels which is much appreciated after a vigorous class. The other basket had towels (but not enough for everyone) to clean their bike afterwards. That's all great, but after paying $20 for a 45 minute class, I still have to clean my bike? I'm not lazy by any means, but other cycle studios have floor assistants that pass out cold towels and wipe down the equipment after the class is done. Overall, the class itself was great--5 stars to Shauna, but the studio needs some help...that's why I'm only giving 3 stars. Not sure if I'll be back. read more

Because this studio has so many class options it keeps me coming back. If I am feeling motivated I sign up for a harder class like hot Pilates. If I feel like taking it easy, I take yoga. There are also a variety of teachers who have a range of personalities and they are some great ones who keep me working hard, like Lindsay, Carrli and Lee. The music is so fun but sometimes it can be a little loud which makes it hard to hear the teachers. I also wish some students would have better etiquette and not place their mats right in front of me, especially when there is plenty of space in the room but besides that I would recommend this studio. read more

PPY's just had a small remodel that has really improved their hot yoga room! I'm so happy with the light colors! This yoga studio is great for folks who like heat and like to sweat. I would say some yoga experience is helpful but the basics class is great for beginners. I love the instructors and their diverse ways of teaching. And I love the many different types of classes offered. You can be as mellow or as hard core with your workout as you want to be here. It's a great group of people. I don't usually write negative reviews but in this case, I feel it is necessary to share my experience. I signed up for the new student special and was extremely excited to start attending the studio regularly. Upon arrival, the staff greeted me with all of my new student paperwork. Also, I forgot my mat so I had to rent one for $8. Then, I went on my way to class. But I didn't mind, I was just happy to go to class. The yoga class alone was pretty good and the instructor was very nice, However, the front desk staff and owner are the issue. A couple of days after taking the class, I received a phone call from the manager saying that I am no longer eligible for the new student special. I was confused and asked her why I wasn't eligible and she said it was because I took one class in 2015 when they were called "Pure Power Yoga". This is wrong on so many levels. First of all, how was I supposed to remember I took one class 6 years ago?? Since then, they have REBRANDED. I had NO idea that Hot elevation yoga used to be pure power yoga. When a company rebrands/changes its name, it is not right to hold someone accountable for a class they took when they had a completely different name. Seriously, How was I supposed to know? Aside from their poor business management, they also could have told me this before I took the class, not after... That's on them and their team. If I had known this, I would have NEVER taken a yoga class for $20 and an additional $8 to rent a yoga mat. I tried to be nice and work this issue out with their manager and owner but they were both extremely rude and not understanding. I don't even care about the new student special anymore, I am not interested in attending their studio at all. The least they could do is refund me my $40 but they refuse to do that and will only offer me credit but I do not want to return. The owner is extremely petty over this situation and that is a sign of bad business. All I want is a refund and it so unfair they aren't even willing to do that. To everyone else reading this, please do not support this business. The staff is rude and petty. I bet they had to rebrand because they were getting bad reviews back when they were "pure power yoga" A good business does not have to randomly rebrand. Hot Elevation yoga, DO BETTER. I am completely OBSESSED with this studio. There are so many class options, I find myself wanting to come twice a day. The classes are challenging, the teachers are great and the staff is super friendly. They always greet me by name and make me feel so welcomed. A guy I knew through a friend is a regular at PPY. He told me randomly how yoga really helped him with stress and his overall health. So, since he was a nice person, he told me that he purchased the new-student special for me. What he didn't know was that, I had just had a MAJOR surgery. I decided to see if I could do it. I went in and filled out all the paperwork to see if I could even handle the class with modifications. After about 30 min, it was apparent that I couldn't. I didn't even finish the class. I was not going to be able to do anymore until I was completely finished healing. Now, I am really healthy and wanting to try it again so, I called and was told that bc he signed me up and I went to ONE class, I no longer qualify for the NSS. I would think, that by looking at my account, they might be willing to bend the rule bc of why I couldn't do it before, to allow me to come back and ACTUALLY try it, for 30 days, and possibly buy a membership. While speaking to the receptionist, she at first said that I wasn't in the system so I qualified for the NSS, and then she wasn't sure, and then said, "oh wait, never mind; you don't qualify for it after all bc you did visit one time." Read everything before you tell me anything, please. I thought it was a go and was let down immediately:( It's a bummer bc PPY is SO close to my house. I won't buy a membership to a place without getting to try a few classes. Otherwise, I'm out hundreds of dollars instead of $40. Makes sense to me. But, they got their money. I guess that's all that matters these days. I suppose I'll go to Aptos to try their yoga classes instead. read more

This place is so fun and energetic!! You can tell the crowd goes there to workkkkkkk, super motivating!!! I love the workers too they're so sweet :'), the girl w short hair and glasses specifically is always so nice when I walk in! We did request a family discount in a email to your mother, spoke with you, your other manager who is your "girlfriend and the new manager in training," on separate occasions. Only to be told you can't make decisions like this, the boss, which happens to be your mother, was the only one capable of handling situations and questions like this. Yes we did enjoy the facility, your teachers, leading us to want to continue and request family discount. Unfortunately your over pricing, lack of care for returning local income, and that your " Mother, The Boss" is unwilling to even handle situations in her business, have left a bad taste leading to your one star review. Bad customer services is all it takes to lose a customer, or 5 in your case! No, the bad customer service did not come for your staff or the teachers but from the management team and the owner. It reflects on the whole experience. It's unfortunate that greed and disregard for returning customers is at the core value of this establishment. read more

This studio has enlisted some great teachers and encouraged their growth as yogis. That's the positive. The negative is the complete lack of feeling welcomed, which, as a yogi who practices across the country and internationally, is pivotal to why I practice yoga. I practice at PurePower Yoga every now and again when I am in town visiting family in Santa Cruz. Every class has been stellar. Such intense yoga... Honestly some of the most challenging yoga I have ever experienced, and I have practiced for over nine years and have had the good fortune to check out studios around the world. I recently took Kaelin Bovee's POWERyoga class and it was insanely difficult. The heat must have been around 102, and she just beat us down (in a good way). I had to back off and catch my breath towards the end. But I loved it and can't wait to come back. read more

I highly recommend PurePower Yoga. I recently moved to Santa Cruz and signed up for their New Student Special - $40 for 30 days unlimited yoga. I've practiced only Bikram yoga for the last 10 years and was planning on going back, but I have enjoyed the studio and the yoga so much I decided to continue here instead. I was surprised with the improvements I had with my strength (especially upper body and abdominal) and endurance after only the first week. There is a lot of focus on breath with movement, so once I became familiar with the postures it became a "moving meditation." The instructors are excellent - knowledgeable, motivating, and experienced - and they each bring their own individual styles to their classes. The classes are for all levels, and modifications are given to either ease or advance your practice, and taking breaks and resting and drinking water as needed are encouraged. The studio is literally spotless - the practice room and changing rooms are cleaned thoroughly after each class. It is hot and humid so you work up a good sweat without being overwhelmed. There are a lot of devoted regular yogis and everyone is welcoming and supportive. The owner not only teaches an awesome class many times each week but is seen there daily practicing herself. I love seeing her participation and enthusiasm. She's created a truly special community that I'm grateful to be a part of. read more

To be fair this was my first time here on a holiday with a substitute teacher. That being said I went to a basic class expecting more instruction and alternative poses and received none of that. On arrival the front desk was very friendly and helpful. I paid almost $30 for a drop in class as well as a mat and towel rental. walking into the practice Studio the vinyl floors were bubbling from the moisture. You could also see and smell mold and mildew on the walls and ceiling. The class itself did not seem basic to me and no alternative options were given for difficult poses. The people themselves were very friendly, but overall I felt the facility and class did not deliver for the high cost. read more

If you are looking for a studio do not look anywhere else!! Please try this place out and do the 30 day new student trial you will not be disappointed. It is the best studio I have been to and I've tried a lot from many different areas and cities! I leave the classes feeling so refreshed and enlightened. It is one of the best workouts I have experienced in years so now I am completely hooked that I look forward to coming in. The overall environment is so welcoming from the teachers and staff to the members. Personally this is one of the hottest studios I have been to but I love the heat - plz don't change it. You will sweat but you will feel soo good after and they also have nice cold towels at the end of each class. I am so happy I found a place where I can come and unwind. read more

Extra heat adds extra sweat ;) I used to come here all the time back when I lived here. I moved closer to the city and haven't been able to find anything remotely close to it! The atmosphere was great, people were always a pleasure to see, teachers were awesome and best of all it's a heated practice. Many other "heated practices" I have been to, aren't necessary heated to the point of sweating, but heated to the point of stickiness. I miss PPY! Will have to return soon :) read more

I signed up for the 30 day New Student Special mid April 2019. I loved the idea of yoga and I had tried it off and on since 2003, but never taken a hot yoga class before. I never really found a studio or instructor that kept me motivated to work through my practice. UNTIL NOW! I started with the Emily's Slow Flow class were I had a full blown mental, emotional and physical revelation. Covered in sweat, no one noticed the tears rolling down my face during shavasana. It was the exact release I didn't know I needed. I was hooked and signed up for the 6 month membership before my 30 day was up. I've been practicing yoga pretty regularly and take their cycle classes as well. My flexibility has improved significantly and I've noticed how my body has changed, but I keep going back because it is so much more than a physical workout. I've had less issues with back pain, I sleep better and my mind is clear. I always look forward to Emily's Slow Flow class and the rest of the week I really enjoy Randee, Shawna and Nancy's Power Flow classes too. As for cycle, I've taken the HIIT, Invigorate and Beats classes with Susan, Lisa, Lee, Amy and Lindsey. Every Yoga and Cycle class has an amazing playlist, they motivate you to do more without pushing you too hard and they each bring their humor, energy and positive vibes to every class. They never judge you for needing to take child's pose in yoga and in cycle they give you full control of your resistance. The staff at the desk is amazing also, Vivian and the rest of the crew always greet you by name and are super friendly and welcoming. If I could change anything about this studio it would be a larger locker room, but even then I wouldn't take a single star away. I almost don't want to leave a 5 star review because I don't want my classes to get too full, but I love this studio so much and hope more people discover the beautiful practice that is yoga. read more

She was exceptionally helpful and kind, and offered variations to positions for those of us who are less flexible. We can't wait to visit again and take another class with her! read more

I've been attending several different classes per week with the trial month ($40 for 30 days). The staff has been extremely friendly and welcoming. The classes are very challenging but when I leave, I can't wait to come back! I recommend trying out the hot power yoga as an introduction. My favorite class so far has been the hot barre: core+cardio class with Meghan. Really great trial month deal with an opportunity to try lots of different classes! read more

This place is awesome! I got roped in by a friend to try- gulp- hot yoga. Is is SO hard (for me) but everyone is so genuine and kind. I am an inexperienced yogi- but that doesn't matter here. Staff and students alike are in it to feel better, not to judge. The staff is always smiling, kind, and helpful. Instructors are able to give one on one attention throughout sessions, and are willing to offer advice and guidance. They are also helpful in modifying poses for those of us with injuries, or less experience. Facilities are clean and beautiful. Make sure you bring your towel, a lot of water and have fun! read more

This review is for hot pilates. I am a former Santa Cruz local who visits once a week. Start to finish: 1. disorganized desk attendants who kept saying "This is a HARD class, very hard..." Okay - I get it. 2. sales pressure to get "new student package" before even taking one class. 3. everything is for sale/rented: $4 mats, $4 hot towels, $4 water, $4 shower towels (no soap/shampoo/conditioner provided, no water fountain) 4. website says lockers but they are cubbies 5. smelly rented equipment - felt like I was doing a downward dog into a my boyfriend's post soccer tournament crotch (there are ways to get out that smell, management) 6. no newbie attention (injury checkin, alternatives, equipment needed, etc) 7. PACKED class - too packed 8. no mic - again, as a newbie I couldn't hear what she was saying and had to stop and look around. 9. further injury potential is huge when your teacher doesn't help or correct. 10. $32 as an out of towner for ONE class (class, mat, hot towel, shower towel). I own this equipment at home but need a reasonable place to come when visiting SC. 11. ended up returning my shower towel & canceling plans to head home and shower clear across town due to no shampoo. You NEED shampoo after a hot class. 12. you really don't burn that many more calories than a regular temperature Pilates class. I do think that doing this on a regular basis would be beneficial, if that is what you are into. The people attending the class seemed to be in great shape and really happy to be there. As a new guest, it was surprising to see a studio lack so many common amenities and pay very little attention to me in a "VERY hard class". $32 dollars for a barely mediocre experience/workout isn't worth it to me. read more
