I had very high hopes for my coffee but it was a very basic coffee. The coffee shop is very cute and it was pretty busy. We stopped by during a roadtrip. I wish they had speciality coffees but they didn't so you had to kind of make your own. I just got a latte with vanilla and it wasn't the best one I had but wasn't terrible so that's why I gave it a 3 but I didn't even finish half of it. I would pass on coming here again. read more

An adorable place to come either driving through or visiting hays. You can tell they are really putting their foot forward to have both modern and old town vibes. I appreciate the simplicity of the menu and pricing options. I did get a large coffee and it is about 6 inches tall, which could have been a mistake but if not I think they shouldn't call it a large. Got an iced caramel oat milk latte and a blueberry scone. The coffee was awesome--I should've got the large Blueberry scone was good too. The ambiance is pretty laid back, Fleetwood Mac playing lightly and very friendly staff. I'd recommend checking this place out if you like good coffee. read more

I roast my own coffee at home and take my espresso machine and grinder with me when visiting family and friends. It's ridiculous, but it's the pain I'm willing to endure for good coffee. I dread traveling for work, because I usually end up having to go to *$ and that's not enjoyable for me. Any way, I was not disappointed by visiting this place. Not only was the coffee world class, (it was a little on the bitter side for my taste, but massive amounts of flavor), the atmosphere was great too. Anytime they let you keep your own coffee mug onsite and wash it for you and display the cups everywhere, it's a win for me. I'm going back for lunch now, so I'll see what the food is like. read more

The vibe of this place is something I've never experienced in my entire life. The nicest workers, a really great amount of different coffees and flavors. I got an oat milk salted caramel latte. It wasn't my favorite, but I think only because I prefer soy milk over oat and they didn't have that option. The thing that send this experience to the top for me, was the way everyone pays it forward. The customers all pay for the next person in line, and there's a board of "pay it forwards" for anyone who comes in without money. There's a jar of "decisions" if you don't know what to order, and a prayer board if you need extra thoughts your way. It's a really unique experience, I'd recommend anyone come here while in Hays! read more

Hays has grown so much in the last few years and places like Breathe are some of the best parts of that growth. This little coffee shops is uniquely artistic. I love all the mugs and art pieces. I could easily see myself hanging out here back in 2006 when I was a student at Fort Hays State. Sadly I missed out by a few years. I had an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and it gave me the boost I needed to get back onto I-70 and make it to Colorado. I think I have a new rest stop for my future trips across Kansas! read more

5+ star rating! Finding good coffee on our road trip has been difficult, but this place satisfied my caffeine craving while checking so many more boxes. I ordered the brown sugar latte and it was amazing! My kids had the crepe with Nutella and they devoured it with nothing but smiles. I love how they have a kindness wall where you can pay it forward and buy a coffee for military veteran. We purchased a few and they add a card to the wall that can be used by patrons. If we ever find ourselves here again we will for sure be back. read more

Omg this place is so cute! They have cute little coffee cups that you can I think, check out? I had to take mine to go but they were so cute! They also have a little area that you can purchase coffee and little things. The decor is all the good vibes you need. They have plenty of places for you to sit, enjoy your coffee, and get some work done. There is also a downstairs that people kept coming up from that I would assume has more seating but I didn't get the chance to head down there! I got an iced latte and it was great! Got there right as the door opened at 7am and was greeted by a friendly employee. I was immediately drawn to the overall "look" of the space, but it was all the little details that blew me away! The coffee club mugs, pay it forward wall, sleeve project, intentional communication mission...all amazing ways to create community. What a beautiful space and concept...oh, and the coffee was pretty great too! The basement area was the perfect play for a meeting or playing games. Score! When I saw the menu, I knew it was a legit place to get espresso based drinks (properly sized cortado and cappuccino). Beautiful location and building in downtown Hays. The staff is very friendly. The first thing I noticed was that they use Oddly Correct coffee, which is my preferred roaster in KC. I was offered a taste of their drip coffee (a custom blend from O.C.) while I waited for my coffees. It was great. I had a cortado and a pour over of one of their single origin coffees from Brazil. The cortado was lovely and a great drink. I got the pour over to go and it was well executed and superb. The other nice thing was the value, the cortado was $2.75 and the pour over was $3.25. I've been to a lot of coffee shops in a lot of towns and cities and I'd put this in the highest tier, the equal (or better) than some of the best shops in Denver, Chicago, D.C. etc. read more

Visited upon arrival in Hays for breakfast. I am not normally one to order crepes, but was delighted with both the savory and sweet flavor. My husband and I stopped in to grab a drink while he answered some emails, he ordered a hot chocololate while I ordered the root beer latte, yes that's right, I asked the barista how they make it, apparently they have root beer flavored milk, steam it and add espresso, loved it, very different but very good, creamy but still has that root beer bite to it with the subtle bitterness from the espresso. The coffee shop it's self was pretty quiet with a good amount of seating, people studying and working here and there, just a really nice vibe to the place. This may seem a little extreme, but I drove a little over an hour to get here. I was working in Hill City and drove 30 mins to Hoxie just to find that the coffee shop I looked up was closed due to hours being changed. I decided to come back to Breathe after being here just yesterday (8/2). All around great establishment. The food and coffee was excellent as well as the environment. Driving across Kansas, we're always on the hunt for little gems along the way and the Breathe Coffee House was certainly one of them. This shop is charming with a focus on community. And although we're not regulars, the staff was extremely courteous and kind. We had savory crepes this morning that rivaled any crepes we've ever had. Yes, they were that good. Delicate with slightly crispy edges and filled with veggies, spinach, ham, and very light cheeses, these crepes delivered. Get off I-70 and take the short drive- you won't be disappointed. read more

5 stars for some of the best coffee around. I'm from KC so know Oddly Correct coffee and was impressed to see that Breathe serves it. And for just $2! I would have paid $3 for an even larger size. Smooth coffee with a nice rounded flavor. They sell it by the bag. They serve crepes and 3 kinds of scones. Seating is limited and I would love to see an outdoor bench. My husband is hard of hearing and it was too loud for him to hear me. They are community oriented and had a funny "indecisive jar." There seems to be a Christian theme. I hope they are as inclusive as the Oddly Correct in KC because this is a gem in a small town. read more
