Eat here. Just do it. Now read on…read more.. Stopped in to Hometown Bakery with my extended family after an overnight in WaKeeney. They didn't have a Yelp page yet but the Google reviews were good so we decided to give it a try (and suggested a Yelp page). I'm sure glad we did. Everything is scratch made and they do more than just baked goods! We basically sampled everything on the menu, breads, spud-nuts, breakfast burritos, you name it it was delicious! They also have good brewed coffee - it's fresh roasted and fresh ground, never saw the bottom of my cup! What sealed the deal was the service. The owner took on a party of 8 early on a Friday morning, and provided fantastic service while still attending to her regulars. You'll be glad you drove the extra 2 minutes off the freeway into downtown WaKeeney. You just can't find places like this any more!

You can't order ahead on their app, that I downloaded just for this trip. Since you're "outback" you can't scan the app for rewards unless you give them your phone. Not a huge deal for me, after this experience I'll keep buying my overpriced coffee elsewhere.

We pulled up and there were not any cars in the drive thru line, but one truck leaving. We were immediately greeted and the young lady took our order. She was very customer service oriented. My PB & Chocolate coffee drink was great! I was skeptical because it did not really have a description of what was in the beverage, just that it contained peanut butter and chocolate We will look for other Scooter's throughout Kansas now. They are similar to Dutch Bros, but for a better price, and just as yummy. Thanks!

But it didn't take long for my order to be finished. The 2 women inside were really nice and polite. I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a caramel frappe. I noticed a little late that they have mushroom and swiss burgers( next time). The fries and frappe were the best parts of the meal. Yes, the patties are smashed. They need a bit more seasoning and less time cooking. While there are people who like extra toasty areas on their food, I am not one of them. I can't quite place what the flavor was to the meat patties. I am always willing to try food out at least twice at a place. Admittedly, I am curious about their BLT or chicken BLT. Everyone's taste in food is different. If you ever travel Hays and are going through Stockton, look up Susie Q's on Facebook and check their hours out.
