Dr. Kim Bauer is very experienced, extremely loving and simply everything I had ever imagined a midwife would be. I always felt like all my questions were valid and I could genuinely tell she cared about her patients and their babies. When she informed me that she would be bringing on another midwife while she was on maternity leave I was a little anxious only because I liked Dr. Bauer so much. I have to admit though that from the moment I met Dr. Tamar Lieb, I was equally as thrilled to see her too. Both women so kind, so knowledgable and most importantly they clearly knew what they were doing! I had fabulous prenatal care and delivered a healthy baby boy one day before his due date. I had the unmedicated birth I always knew that I wanted with two professional midwives at the Bellingham Birth Center. Things actually went so well that I am strongly considering a home birth with Dr. Lieb and Dr. Bauer should I be so lucky to ever get blessed with another pregnancy. I also would like to add that I went through a bit of a rough patch following the birth of my baby emotionally. I was very anxious and unable to sleep for many days. Both Midwives were relentless with checking in on me and making sure that I was improving and had enough support. I felt their love and genuine concern every step of the way. Both of these midwives come highly recommended from me and I will most definitely use them again God willing!!!

She literally changed my life. She is exceptionally smart and is able to handle any number of difficult questions or topics. She is empathetic and supportive. She has a seemingly impossible perfect balance of providing support while also offering appropriate insights to help you make the best informed choices for you and your baby. She offered practical, relevant sound information but ultimately I knew the choices and decisions were mine to make. I felt so comfortable and supported with all three midwives. The midwives were respectful of all my decisions and remained unbiased. I chose to deliver in a hospital and had an epidural. I highly recommend going with these midwives. They spend so much time with you in your appointments, come to your house when you are in labour, and the postpartum care in amazing. 10 out of 10 experience

If you are wondering about why these reviews are so disjointed, perhaps I can help spread some…read morelight! The clinic changed hands a few years ago and the entire operation (both midwives and staff) has changed. I went to Pacific Midwifery before and after the transition, so I have a unique perspective. Half way through my first pregnancy, in mid-2013, I was a patient at Pacific and ended up getting "bounced" and sent to another practice. My experience at Pacific prior to the transfer was less than stellar. After the transfer, I ended up with a pair of midwives who were amazing. Hedieh was one of the two. When I became pregnant again in late-2015 I learned Hedieh (who I love) had moved to Pacific (oh no)! I decided my relationship with Hedieh trumped my prior bad experience with the clinic, so I decided to go back. I'm so glad I did. The new staff is wonderful. The space is beautiful. And Hedieh herself is a gem. She is extremely experienced, and it shows in everything she does. The pre- and post- natal care I received from her with both babies was phenomenal and I cried after my last discharge appointment :) In short, I highly recommend her, and I can't speak for the rest of the practice personally, it sounds like people are really happy. They have a lactation consultant, binders full of resources, and a lending library (and I think they might even have prenatal courses in the clinic now). If you are still deciding between an OB, GP, or midwife, one of the things I didn't realize would be so different was post-partum care. The post-partum care you get with a midwife (at least in my experience) is the gold standard, for both baby and for mom. It's pretty special to have someone looking out for you in that period.
