I went for an exam on a Friday afternoon while my wife shopped at Costco. Dr. Bream was personable, thorough and answered my questions. She noted 2 conditions for which she recommended treatment. She also made a referral to a local surgeon for a blepheroplasty to correct drooping eyelids which are obscuring a portion of my pupils. She provided 2 prescriptions for glasses; one for regular bifocals for everyday wear and one for work at my computer. The exam was quick and the fee was reasonable. read more

It is almost comical how poorly I was treated during my visit. I was a first-time​ patient and after filling out my insurance​ forms and waiting another 20 minutes, the woman at the front desk told me she couldn't find me in the system. I told her I didn't understand​​ how that could be, since I found this optometrist​ through my insurance​​e provider's website. She began talking very LOUDLY and very SLOWLY, as if to make it very clear that she thought I was an idiot. As someone who works with aggravating​ customers all day long, I tried to be understanding. I asked her verycalmly​y how I could help her sort this situation out. She laughed at me and very condescendingly​ told me to "sort myself out". I was so shocked I left. Also, the waiting area and the equipment​ they use to check eyes etc. are about five feet from each other since the office is so tiny. I saw a mother rocking her sick baby in the waiting area, and the baby repeatedly​ coughed over the equipment​. I then saw one of the staff do an extremely lazy and poor job of cleaning the machine the baby had literally just coughed on in front of her. She then had a patient put her face directly on the surface of the machine. read more

Best Optometrist in town. Been seeing Dr. Bream for years. She was recommended by the folks at Occhialli Eyewear. The office is run very well. They call to remind you of your annual appointment, text you a few days in advance to confirm the appointment and then text you the morning of the appointment to remind you. Once there, they handle all the insurance issues and let you know what is and what is not covered. The Tech efficiently takes care of all the pre-exam tests seamlessly. Dr. Bream is thorough and explains everything that is going on. She is also very good at answering all my questions and explains the options in terms I understand. Best eye doctor ever ! Walked in, because the DMV had some concerns with the eyes of my 16 year old daughter. The staff, especially Milena, were extra friendly and took us straight away. Dr. Andersen was the most competent eye doctor we have ever met and after thorough yet rapid testing, came to the exact right conclusion. Dr. Bream is professional, kind, and honest. If she has any concerns about your eye health she takes the time to explain . Her staff is efficient and courteous. It's an office inside of the costco! It was quite small so the waiting room and the initial exam was cramped, but the exam room was closed off. The optometrist asked me several questions about my history and spent almost 30 minutes with me. I appreciated having a thorough exam. She answered any questions I had and let me know that if any of my trail lenses didn't work, that I could always come back! Overall, I loved how thorough my visit was but wished the office was larger. read more

I had been going to Dr. Cory Bream for years and something has definitely changed. There came a turning point where every transaction has become a complete nightmare. The front desk girl was very condescending and Dr. Cory Bream must be at a point in her life where she just stopped treating her patients like human beings. I asked a question and she took offense and made feel stupid for asking. Everything was very rushed, had to come back because the contacts I was prescribed blurred my vision. After much hassle they switched me to a different brand of contacts with another completely different prescription. Now that I want to reorder, I can't because they never gave me the new prescription. I've been told the front desk girl no longer works there. Hopefully Cory Bream has realized that her customers should be treated with respect. read more

This clinic is located inside Costco by the eyeglasses counter and customer service desks. It is not in the main shopping part of the store. Its space was remodeled in November 2014 and is very clean and modern. Convenient location and great aesthetics aside, I really liked Dr. Bream and her staff. I don't know why, but it's rare to find pleasant, upbeat personalities in customer service encounters in SB. I got that here. I also got very good care. Dr. Bream did an excellent job explaining an eye condition to me, making study-backed recommendations around vitamins and eye drops, and reassuring me overall. The way in which she explained things was especially conscientious and clear. Like others, though, my appointment ran late. I tried to avoid this problem by booking the first appointment of the day, but Dr. Bream herself arrived 20 minutes late and was a little scattered initially. I liked her a lot personally, though, and so I can overlook this and deal with it going forward. Other reviewers have complained about a lack of seating. There are three seats inside the clinic itself. It's a small space and it's inside Costco -- I think three seats are reasonable. read more

Dr. Bream is an amazing doctor! I highly recommend coming to see her or Dr. Tang. Not only are they hospitable and kind, the staff is also great. It does get busy at times, so the wait times for walk-ins can get long; I always make sure to make an appointment. The pricing is very fair as well. I do feel like they are more fast-paced, since it is located inside Costco. But that suits me perfectly because I can just get in and get out quickly! Quint S. The first time I went to Bream Optometry, it was merely the convenience of being inside Costco and the low cost. I was pleasantly surprised by the thoroughness of the examination, including retinal photography and dilation. My eyes are extremely elongated, putting me at greater risk of retinal detachment. I was reassured everything possible was done by Dr Bream to detect potential problems. I'm a home care nurse, and have accompanied patients to several local optometrists. I've also had at least 5 other optometrists over my life. All of them were competent, but Dr Bream stood out for her obvious genuine concern and thoroughness. She detected a problem with my vision which could be corrected by prismatic lenses. These allowed me to see more clearly than I ever had in the past. None of my previous optometrists noticed this defect. She also alerted me when I developed cataracts, and later glaucoma. Dr Bream looks out for her patients! read more

Called in to see if they would accept a walk-in and of course they said yes. 5 minutes later I arrive to a full waiting room with no place to sit. I asked if it would be very long and there response was not at all maybe 30 minutes. About an hour later they process my initial visit with the glaucoma test then the peripheral test and two other test. I asked if I could go walk around they said no because they wouldn't be able to find me. Then more waiting for the actual eye exam. 2 hours into the visit I ask how much longer for the exam. They kindly say another 30 minutes at which point I notice they will be closing so I had to walk out know very well I wasted my time. Worst office ever. Avoid like the plague. I will never set foot in there ever again. read more

Dr. Anderson at Bream Optometry at Costco Goleta is very knowledgeable, soft spoken and relays information understandably. I went to Walmart Optometry in Santa Mara thinking I would get a better price for my new glasses but I couldn't have been more wrong. Walmart charged $478, got three of the four prescription measurements completely incorrect and took 3 weeks to have them ready. I got a refund and went to Costco Goleta and they charged me less than half at $185 and didn't even take a week to have them available for me. Costco also included scratch resistance, anti-glare, progressive lenses and transition lenses included in the $185 out the door price which Walmart charged extra for each of those items. My glasses are excellent and I can see better than ever. All in all it cost $239 per lens at Walmart and I purchased BOTH lenses from Costco Goleta for $185 WITH the correct prescription. You do the math and I think anyone can conclude that I did much better at Costco Goleta. Thank you Dr. Anderson and Drew at Costco Goleta!!! read more

Dr. Bream identified a pre-existing medical condition I neglected to put on my patient survey. She also taught me more about my vision issues and my medical condition than my former optometrist did in over 5 years of visits.
