A GREAT discovery when traveling along 1-74 to Indianapolis. This is a unique Mexican restaurant with a cozy dining room and nice patio. There are approximately a dozen tables inside, two tops, four tops, and a few larger tables. The menu has many traditional and unique Mexican entrees. All the standard favorites are here but also interesting new items to try. Food is absolutely delicious. Employees are incredibly helpful and will modify menu items to add or omit ingredients. There is a small parking lot behind the restaurant but also a much larger lot adjacent. Prices are very reasonable. I will keep returning so I can sample everything on the menu! read more

I got the Toluca burrito. It was very good. I was also impressed with the fast, friendly, and attentive service.

Service was great and really fast. The environment is good as well, and has a very authentic decor going on. Wasn't a big fan of their salsa though. Tasted like chili and their queso was very similar to an Alfredo sauce. Just wasn't for me, but appreciated the fast service. read more

The salsa was puréed and tasted like marinara, the queso did not even seem like cheese (runny and also grainy like it was maybe made from powdered cheese and just not a good taste). We decided not stay for an entree. Cute interior/design and friendly staff though! read more

This place is a real hidden gem in a little town just outside of Champaign, IL and wow this place very authentic Mexican and I think it could beat out Maize another great authentic Mexican place out in the center of Champaign. The tacos where off the wall fantastic. Had 2 Carne Asada tacos and they were super delicious. The taco shell full of flavor and the Carme cooked just right juicy and flavorful on top of some onions and cilantro. I also had the Green Enchiladas. Super delicious and flavorful as well with the green sauce and the other ingredients. To drink I had the Horchata which was great but not very sweet either. I thought it could have used some cinnamon on it. Overall super delicious food being a very small hole in the wall in Mahomet, IL. Glad I tried it through as it was being referred to be by a friend. read more

We had a bunch of different tacos and they were all really good. I think the steak ones were my favorite. The beef is cut in really small pieces which makes it easier to eat. These tacos are very simple but delish! Cilantro, onion, meat and some seasonings on what type of tortilla you want. We really like the simple fresh flavors here. Wow, lots of Mexican options in Mahomet but this place is fresh, fresh, fresh. Loved the freshly made sauces and loved the fresh taste of the meats, tortillas and sides. Its a small location but they have seating both inside and a nice patio. We love their food and always make it a point to go there when we are feeling the need for some fresh tacos. I bought a Got Spot certificate some time ago and had been waiting for the chance to use it at Breaking Taco. That chance came last Sunday night. The restaurant is rather small and I felt a bit cramped at our table.Everyone eating there that night was sitting on the same side of the restaurant in the booths. Service was friendly. We felt welcomed there and were waited upon promptly. Food: The tortilla chips were nice and salty, but the salsa seemed drab. My wife ordered the Cactus Huarache and thought it was good. She gave it a grade of B. I had a steak burrito, rice and beans. The beans were tasteless and the rice only had taste when adding some verde sauce to it. I thought that my burrito was lacking taste. I gave it a grade of C-. We drove in from Champaign, where we have many very good Mexican restaurants. Unfortunately, I didn't feel like Breaking Taco was worth the drive. This is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant at Mahomet. The food was great and the service was fast. I ordered the green enchiladas and a flan. Both of the items were delicious. My only criticism is tomato salsa. It will be better if they add more jalapeños. read more
