Smallest $11 burrito I've ever seen
    Evan V.

Kept seeing all the great reviews so I decided to try it out today. Upon approaching the guy that was working clearly did not want any business, did not make eye contact, did not say hello or thank you. I decided to get the burrito which came out to $11.50. I'm from Colorado so I'm expecting a big filling burrito that you could actually eat and be filled up. Unfortunately the burrito was so small you would need at least four of them to match the size of a Colorado Mexican burrito. So if you got four of them here you would be eating a $45 meal. I should have just went to Taco Bell and would have got so much more value as the flavor was equivalent. Very disappointed and will not return. No value, no flavor, no friendly people.

Great food! Amazing taste and lovely for the evening. Vegetarian and Vegan options, too. Yum! Delicious!

A must visit food truck on SPI. Family run small business. The owner is a good person to chat with... he smilingly shares his journey while focusing on prepping your food. Give them your business. Very good food. You will not be disappointed.

    Beef tacos

Stopped by here after walking out a restaurant a couple doors down... big burrito was massive and my son tore it up... the corn in a cup was very good! I had the beef tacos and they were very good! The small nacho was a basic concession stand nacho. My wife had the frito chili pie and had the cheap nacho cheese... would for sure recommend the tacos!!

Good breakfast burritos. Can choose your own fillings. Always fresh & very friendly staff. Go about 1x a week when in the area.

Here's what we saw: From the outside the restaurant looks good with a dog friendly patio and decent parking around the side of the building. The inside is clean and well maintained with a few TVs to catch games. We sat outside since we had our dog with us and our server was fantastic. He had a lot of jokes, knew when to give us space, and was just incredibly attentive all around. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ran out. The food was very mediocre, granted they just started serving breakfast recently so they're probably trying to work the kinks out. We ordered the pancake breakfast with breakfast potatoes, bacon, and Texas toast as well as the chillaquiles with beef fajita. The pancakes were very thin and chewy, definitely not a high quality batter and not moist. The bacon likewise was chewy and the toast was, well, toast. The best part of the dish were the breakfast potatoes which had a good texture and flavor to them. As for the chillaquiles, it was decent. A bit of a messy plate but nothing that took away from the meal. The beans, tortilla chips, etc were good but the best part was the beef fajita, seasoned well and pretty juicy. Again, it's hard to write this place off as a 3 star because we think they're a work in progress on the breakfast side and likely have better food on other parts of the menu, we can just only write about our experience. Service was phenomenal, that cannot be understated. Likely a place we will try again if ever back in SPI and hopefully we can rate higher next time!

Chicken fried chicken was delicious and very reasonable price. Our waitress was first class.read more

Saturday night, 6 tables walked out and if we wernt such a big party i probably would've too. Our server was an older man who seemed completely checked out. What made it worse was that the restaurant wasn't even busy. There were maybe 20 people total, and still--everyone looked restless and annoyed. It wasn't that they were overwhelmed... it was just painfully slow service for no reason. Our appetizer took 40 minutes to come out. You'd think the entrees would follow shortly after, but nope--those took another full hour. We weren't the only ones either; even the smaller tables around us were waiting forever. It felt like we were being ignored. Now here's the twist: the food was amazing. Like seriously, 10/10. Every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully plated. Wtf truly I was torn--I was mad at the experience but in love with the food. You can see from the photos, it's definitely worth eating... if you order to go. Bottom line: if you've got nowhere to be and a lot of patience, you MIGHT walk out happy. But if you're on any kind of schedule, skip it. Great food, nonexistent service.

Updates of Texan eateries I like (2 of 2)…read more Yummie's is one South Padre Island restaurant I really like, and if you spend some time here, you may wind up trying most of them, including some across the water in Port Isabel. For starters, Yummie's has a great feel about it - bright, spacious, and slightly nautical. They do a breakfast and lunch business, a business model a good number of local eateries share with them. While I can't vouch for their breakfasts and since I like lunch food more, their lunch menu is fairly vast. With all this being said, I wandered in here the last time on South Padre Island knowing I'd find a lunch platter to my liking. I would expect that to be a bountiful sandwich and that's what I've enjoyed on both visits. In my first visit here, I ordered a slice of the organic red grapefruit pie. It was a feast for the senses. On the last visit to Yummie's, this unique pie was not available. I believe it would have been in season. The server wasn't exactly clear, but said it had something to do with more recent menu planning. I was disappointed. It's that dessert that brought me to Yummie's the first time I visited and it's that item that brought me back. Look, I'm not a granola, and neither are most Texans and "Winter Texans" given that they sell towels and t-shirts with pit bulls on them across the street, which means that you can skip the organic part of the equation if it makes it easier for you to procure red grapefruits for you to deliver on this bodacious pie. The sandwiches and lunch platters at Yummie's are generously sized. I've gotten the standard potato chips to round out my sandwiches. Maybe I didn't see an option, but it would be nice if regular fries or something similar was offered for a reasonable upcharge. Since potato chips already have enough oils and fat, one might as well push the envelope that extra mile with another starch that tastes even better. The reviews will attest to Yummie's being a rock solid restaurant. I agree. I recommend it highly, but, for my wants and needs, will look at the most current menu or call beforehand prior to going in to eat. That's correct ... these aren't the sorts of specifics for which you would text them.

Wanted to really like this place, but it didn't go well unfortunately…read more Menu has a lot to offer and some of their prices are a little steep. Browsed the menu & ended up just getting their "tossed salad". I asked what was on it which was; sliced tomato, shredded carrot, red onion & cucumber. Opted out of the cucumber & requested two blue cheese dressings. My husband ordered their cheeseburger dressed with pepper jack cheese. My salad arrived fairly quickly & it was on a flat plate with a weak portion for $7.75. The two dressings were in taco cups over flowing with a hefty amount of fresh blue cheese crumbles packed on top. Super disappointed with not only the presentation, the cost & never being asked if I wanted my salad prior or when my husband received his meal. I ended up pushing it to the side & was waiting for our waitress to return to not only ask if my husband would like another beer, but to also provide the option of not eating that ridiculous amount of rabbit food-getting a refund OR to bring out more lettuce & ask to please just bring out standard blue cheese dressing without the added amount of crumbled cheese. We don't see our server for sometime, so I went to the hostess asking if she were also the manager which she stated she wasn't & that they were at the bar. That's when our server came up behind me & asked if there was a problem. I explained the situation to her, then she tells me that this dressing is always served this way and that, that is what blue cheese dressing is! She seemed confused about the crumbles & was almost trying to mock me. I've worked in the food industry & know how these product come into the restaurants. Blue cheese dressing does have blue cheese "chucks" within the original recipe. If you are doing things differently then that, it should stand out more on their menu as "homemade" and again expressed by the server, but she made it as if I were just suppose to know their process. It's salad dressing, it shouldn't be this difficult! LOL After this fiasco, they brought more salad and a watered down milky dressing that had zero flavor and zero cheese along with sliced cucumber?! The consistency was like milk. It was running, bland, NO blended cheese in the base-it definitely wasn't blue cheese dressing! WT?! This ALL transpired while my husband was still waiting on his burger & fries . About another 15 minutes goes by, I finally had to just start in on the bland salad. My husband's beer still sat empty & was never told when his burger would be served the few times are server swung by regarding my order issues. 20 minutes later, she comes by again & he was asked if it was cheddar cheese & he said, "no it was pepper jack". A total of 30 minutes he waited for a very rare burger, cold fries & FINALLY another beer! Terrible service and food wasn't very good either.
