10000/10 recommended! Every time we visit SPI, we will always stop at Josephine's for breakfast on the day we leave. It has become a tradition. Yes, it does get busy fast. Waits aren't too bad, but worth it. Service is always great. Staff is amazing, as well as customer service. We've had a variety of menu items. Benedict's are tasty! Pancakes and crepes are . You can't pick anything bad. The mimosa carafes are nice as well as specialty coffee drinks! It's a must try!

Not one berry in the crepe...

We were a party of eight. Service was good and everyone enjoyed their breakfast ... except me I ordered crepes because of the discription " stuffed with a medley of berries" I got two crepes with a banana and Nutella and one small strawberry sliced atop. The chief needs to honor the menu

Food was tasty and servuce was excellent (thanks Rosa!). I wanted to give this a five, but the pancakes and crepes were a little overdone and the crepes mussette was not stuffed with berries, just a banana and Nutella with a few strawberry slices and 3 blueberries tossed on top. Even so, they tasted great and the orange juice really did appear and taste fresh squeezed.

We stopped by Josephine's Kitchen on our last day at SPI after seeing all the buzz on social media. The place was packed, but we were lucky enough to get seated right away. The menu had plenty of tempting options, but my husband and I both went with the chicken and waffles and added a side of hash browns. We couldn't resist also ordering the pancakes to try. We each had an iced coffee to go with our meal, and it was delicious. The chicken and waffles did not disappoint crispy, flavorful, and a generous portion. The pancakes were fluffy and tasty too, but after digging into the main dish, we ended up boxing most of them to go. The food took a little while to come out, but considering it was a full house, that was expected. Overall, it was worth the stop and definitely lived up to the hype!

Avocado toast with poached eggs and hash browns. Delicious!

The food here is so good and the coffee is delicious. Prices are reasonable and we will definitely be back when in South Padre.

Service was top notch and friendly. Ordered eggs with bacon, has browns and toast substituted for waffles. Husband had eggs, sausage, and waffles with has browns. Coffee was hot and served in oversized cups. Would definitely come back for breakfast. Serves lunch too.

It gets PACKED so be prepared. But worth it Large menu but so good, we went for breakfast and got the ham egg sandwich (HUGE) and some platter pictured and it was gobbled up. In fact, that's why I don't have a picture of the ham and egg sandwich because I just dive right in Ambiance is classic diner - loud, packed in, but everyone is happy

I had the ranchero omelet. It was amazing, soo good! My coffee cup was huge so it was perfect. No more asking for refills constantly lol We got seated quickly. Coffee was hot and delicious

This was my first time on South Padre Island. We decided to eat breakfast at Josephine's Kitchen. The place was packed so we expected a wait; not too bad maybe 20mins and they text you when your table is ready. The wait staff was attentive and quick to turnover and clean tables. They have a good selection of American and Tex Mex options. We decided on your standard American breakfast. Everything was freshly prepared. The restaurant has a good selection of flavored Mimosas. And did I mention you get a complimentary pic and you can also purchase a framed souvenir pic as well. Next time I'll try a more Tex Mex breakfast option.

Everything about our visit to Josephine's was great! We were visiting SPI, and this was our first stop, a recommendation from our condo. I ordered avocado toast which came with two poached eggs, avocado slices, tomato slices, and hashbrowns. I ordered coffee as my beverage. My husband and daughter ordered sausage and biscuits with gravy. Everything was served as ordered and was great! Kudos to the kitchen staff! Special shout-out to our server, Maria Del Rosia, and hostess, Irene, who was glad to answer my questions about the cafe's namesake. Both Maria and Irene were awesome! It was a comfortable atmosphere. We will be sure to come again next time we visit SPI.

Lesli and I have been in town all week and we ate breakfast at Josephine's each morning. Every dish was great, every server was great, and Miss Irene runs a wonderful restaurant. I recommend Josephine's highly and we will be back the next time we're on the island!

Food was great and service was friendly! Can't serve alcohol on Sunday until after 10, but I think that is a state thing, not their rule.

We also tried the chilaquiles (you do have to add your choice of chicken, steak, or egg, but it's worth it), and they were full of flavor. The standout for us was the lemon poppy seed pancakes--absolutely delicious and a must-try! They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, which is nice depending on the weather. The service was very attentive and accommodating, which made the experience even better. Overall, such a cute spot with great food--we'll definitely be back!

Updates of Texan eateries I like (2 of 2)…read more Yummie's is one South Padre Island restaurant I really like, and if you spend some time here, you may wind up trying most of them, including some across the water in Port Isabel. For starters, Yummie's has a great feel about it - bright, spacious, and slightly nautical. They do a breakfast and lunch business, a business model a good number of local eateries share with them. While I can't vouch for their breakfasts and since I like lunch food more, their lunch menu is fairly vast. With all this being said, I wandered in here the last time on South Padre Island knowing I'd find a lunch platter to my liking. I would expect that to be a bountiful sandwich and that's what I've enjoyed on both visits. In my first visit here, I ordered a slice of the organic red grapefruit pie. It was a feast for the senses. On the last visit to Yummie's, this unique pie was not available. I believe it would have been in season. The server wasn't exactly clear, but said it had something to do with more recent menu planning. I was disappointed. It's that dessert that brought me to Yummie's the first time I visited and it's that item that brought me back. Look, I'm not a granola, and neither are most Texans and "Winter Texans" given that they sell towels and t-shirts with pit bulls on them across the street, which means that you can skip the organic part of the equation if it makes it easier for you to procure red grapefruits for you to deliver on this bodacious pie. The sandwiches and lunch platters at Yummie's are generously sized. I've gotten the standard potato chips to round out my sandwiches. Maybe I didn't see an option, but it would be nice if regular fries or something similar was offered for a reasonable upcharge. Since potato chips already have enough oils and fat, one might as well push the envelope that extra mile with another starch that tastes even better. The reviews will attest to Yummie's being a rock solid restaurant. I agree. I recommend it highly, but, for my wants and needs, will look at the most current menu or call beforehand prior to going in to eat. That's correct ... these aren't the sorts of specifics for which you would text them.

It's not much to look at, small, simple, not a whole lot of improvements over the years. But, they did have plastic flaps that dropped down on the outside of the place to keep the wind and cold weather out, heaters provided too! Service by Aaron was top notch, start to finish! We initially just decided to stay to a drink and move on ... but as we sat there and looked at the menu, sipped our drinks, we saw other food coming out of the kitchen! It looked GREAT! We ordered the crispy oyster tapas (fried oysters on homemade potato chips with mango pico). They came out quickly and were oh so tasty! We were convinced! Time for dinner! We ordered a rueben sandwich (with homemade parmesan potato chips) and the snapper veracruz (tomato, onion, olives, capers) with grilled zucchini. The sandwich was da bomb ... piled high corned beef, kraut and dressing, pickles on the side. The snapper dish is one we make at home, and this one was darn good! So, glad we stayed! This place puts to shame some of the other "fancy" places on SPI! "Don't judge a book by its cover" rings true here! Highly recommend you try the Cafe! We'll be back for sure ...

Everything's been updated and it shows. Unfortunately that's where the good news ends. Service was rough. Our server was a serious quiet talker, and I mean barely audible, like she was trying not to wake someone up. Between that and the long stretches between check-ins, the meal felt a little adrift. I started with the avocado fries. They looked the part but tasted like almost nothing. I kept waiting for something to land and it never did. My main was the barbacoa plate, which was intensely dry and aggressively salty . The kind of salt that makes you drain a water glass before you're halfway through. This could have been a solid dish. It wasn't. And here's the thing: the gas station across the street sells barbacoa that's genuinely better. I'm not being cute. That's just true. My wife had the coconut shrimp. Forgettable. The food here looks good. It photographs well. But there's a gap between presentation and flavor that's hard to overlook, especially when the concept has enough ambition to make you expect more. For what we paid, "it looked pretty" isn't a satisfying consolation prize. I hope they find their footing, the space deserves it. But I wouldn't be in a hurry to come back.
