I loved this place. So good and so cute Eggs and bacon were amazing! I got the gluten free pancakes were not that good (according to my gluten free friend) they were kinda hard and not fluffy. But they had goat cheese and I love goat cheese so it made up for it. Potato's are good. I would not recommend going here if you're in a hurry because the food takes a while but the servers were sweet and gave us a discount and chips + salsa. Coffee was also good. I've been coming to Grapevine Cafe for years. Service has always been friendly, prices are reasonable, and it scratches the brunch itch when you're in the area. The problem is I keep forgetting why I stopped coming, and then I come back and remember. Twice now, two years apart, I've made the mistake of ordering the chicken and waffles. You'd think I'd learn. Both times the chicken was so overcooked it was practically jerky. Dry, tough, hard to chew. I don't know what's happening in that kitchen but the chicken needs significantly less time in whatever it's touching. Well-executed fried chicken should have a crust with some snap and meat that's still got moisture in it. This had neither. The wife and I split the banana french toast on the most recent visit hoping to salvage something from the meal. It was fine in the way that something sweet and warm is technically fine, but it was too sugary and didn't leave any impression worth describing. Forgettable. This is a place with decent bones. The staff is good. The prices won't offend you. But the kitchen is not delivering, at least not on what we've ordered, and I've now given it the same chance twice across two years. Writing this mostly as a note to myself: stop ordering the chicken and waffles. Or maybe just stop coming for a while until something changes. read more

The 20oz vanilla latte was huge and delicious. I would go here just for the coffee. The biscuits are thick but good. Bacon was tasty. The potatoes were good and the fruit fresh. We had a delightful breakfast at Grapevine Cafe during our stay in SPI. We were really only looking for coffee, but sat for breakfast anyway ... when in Rome! There is a separate entrance if coffee only is what you want! So glad we stayed... Jesse was our server, did a great job. A couple of lattes started us off (3 shots espresso/ 20 oz for me!), the coffee was delicious, and served HOT, as we like it! Definitely a wonderful option for peace of mind for those who have celiacs disease or can't have gluten. The owner's wife has celiacs so they purposely provide gf options for people like her. I ordered a some drinks for the table (coffees, smoothies, and orange juice and a water) after being seated (no wait at all, the place was not busy). After 20 minutes I had received about half the drinks and had not seen a waitress at all. I eventually had to go track someone to get the check for the drinks I had received, having never gotten the rest of the drinks or a chance to order food. Again, the place was not busy, there was no wait to be seated, and I counted four waiters working 7 tables including ours. The waitress did, however, comp the three drinks we received. read more

We came for Labor Day weekend, this place was a 5 minute walk from our condo & it was great! The restaurant it pretty big in the inside. We got seated within the first 10 minutes, I suggest getting on the waitlist Ordered the chicken & waffles so good 10/10 My friend got avocado on toast 8/10 (egg became too runny, was hard to eat toward the end) Also got the Huevo a la Mexican with chorizo 9/10 (it was more chorizo based than pico de gallo) Can't wait to be back on the island and try this place again read more

I hate to do this but this place has stellar reviews and I think it's in part because of the staff and service. Their servers are fantastic and everyone we interacted with was great. Extra helpful everyone is always smiling. The food though was just ok, and it could come down to what I ordered but it's mid at best. I think if I was in my 20's and looking for something different it would be amazing . We had the cinnamon roll French toast, poached eggs (subbed the meat for avocado since we can't have pork), coffee, Belgium waffle with seasonal berries, and scrambled eggs. French toast- flavor was good but it was a little doughy Couldn't have the bourbon praline syrup so asked for the chipotle raspberry syrup. The syrup flavors needed to be developed a little more because it was more like ingredients mixed rather than a syrup. The waffle was over cooked and seasonal berry topping to me means on top and the blueberries were in it and strawberries on top. I mean the staff was extremely nice and helpful but the over all meal fell flat to be honest. read more

Cute little cafe on SPI! It's bigger inside than it looks on the outside. The coffee was really good and there is an extensive coffee menu. Grabbed some breakfast and seated rather quickly and served quickly despite it being rather busy. The grit cakes were quite bland and we should have went with the servers recommendation to share biscuits and gravy. The shrimp omelette was excellent and the fruit cup has the tastiness melon I've ever had! The Benedict was similar to many others. Although the plating of the chilaquiles was lacking they were great and had a nice little kick with jalapeños. They even have a cool smoothie menu and we saw many folks popping in the to go area just to grab one and head to the beach. Vibe: the restaurant is pretty big, with a good amount of seating inside. Pretty casual, clean, and mom-and-pop kinda vibe. We went straight to the drink bar at the back. Service: Servers here were not very attentive. We had questions about some of the menu items, and an employee (maybe a manager?) responded by referring us to another employee behind the counter who was busy making stuff. Then, he proceeded to tell us that the syrup flavors available were "whatever you see behind the counter" which was not very visible. All in all, not very helpful, and he seemed to be a little visibly frustrated with the other employees - not sure who was at fault here, but it was kinda uncomfortable nonetheless. Drinks: We ordered the cucumber lime refresher, melange berry refresher, and iced Purple Haze tea latte. The refreshers were incredible, fruity, and definitely refreshing! We would recommend grabbing these if you are a big fan of the refreshers from Starbucks. The iced purple haze tea was not so great - skip it. Tasted very water, not really any flavor. It also takes a long time for them to prepare. We definitely recommend grabbing the refresher drinks here when you are visiting SPI as they are delicious and refreshing! Good choice, down here for the winter. Had shrimp and grits. Definitely recommend. Had 5 big shrimp piece of sausage on the bottom with bacon bits. Price was right 24.18 with coffee. Good coffee, they have a lot of the foofoo coffees , I just had a cup of regular black coffee. The waitress kept it full. I kept my receipt for a 10% discount on my next visit. Visit South Padre once or twice a year and this is my MUST GO TO PLACE for breakfast or lunch. The service is always great, and if you go in the morning before 9:30 it's easy to find seating but is the day fills up you may have a wait, but they will call you when your table is ready. Menu is full of fresh selections and quality food. I love the shrimp omelette with added jalapeño and bacon. The menu selection for breakfast lunch and dinner is extensive, plenty to offer. Everyone, the food is always served. Fresh, orders are ice, correct, and Service is attentive and drink orders are refilled quickly. My family LOVES coming to Grapevine Cafe every time we come to South Padre Island, we've went here 3 times on our trip! The restaurant is very cute and has expanded since our last visit, they now have a coffee bar area where they make coffee, tea, smoothies, etc. For drinks, I got the Cucumber Lime Refresher and the Tropical Padre Smoothie. The refresher was absolutely refreshing, and came with a tajin rim! The smoothie was so delicious and had the best flavor!! Other members of my party got the Berry Berry smoothie as well and they loved it! For breakfast, I tried three things. The first time I went, I got the Two Egg Breakfast the first day, it was really filling and I was obsessed with the hash browns and the biscuit. The second time, I got the short stack with chocolate chips, it was the perfect size of pancakes and the chocolate chips were delicious. The last time I went, I got the breakfast taco with eggs, bacon, and cheese, this taco is HUGE and you only need one!! Other members in my party got the Huevos La Mexicana Danny's Way, Migas Mexicana, and the Belgium Waffle. Everyone loved what they got and kept ordering their meals each time! The service was great, when we arrived, my party would show up 30 min-1 hour after opening (party of 6) and the longest we waited for a table was 20 minutes. The wait was over an hour but I liked that you could join the waitlist online. Our server was super friendly and our food came out fairly quickly. I got the skinny omelette and a short stack of the lemon blueberry pancakes. My omelette was decent, as described. The potatoes were pretty good. The pancakes were the let down. There was no lemon to be found and hardly any blueberries. They weren't "goat cheese pancakes" like described, they were a generic pancake mix with random chunks of goat cheese. Wasn't impressed and def wouldn't get again but luckily they were affordable for the portion. Overall, good service, decent omelette but def overhyped. read more

Delicious food and great service. Our waitress was fantastic. She made sure our coffee cups were never empty and we always had what we needed. The wait was 50 minutes (weekday at 1030ish) but that was no problem since we knew there'd be a long wait beforehand. We just went for a walk and enjoyed the beautiful weather. We timed it perfectly as we received our text our table was ready just after returning from our walk. I did take off one star, though, because even though everything else was perfect, I feel as though I was upcharged on 2 meals. I ordered a waffle and my stepdaughter ordered pancakes. We thought they came solo but were asked for our egg preferences. Okay, we stated them. We didn't eat them because that's too much food for us. As I was checking our bill in the car (I know, my bad) I noticed it's actually an upcharge for eggs and added protein.
