First try of G. Ramsey's namesake eatery. First impression of the dining room is positive, space is open and airy, with darker tones all over, since it is at the Peak Galleria in Hong Kong, it is part of a very busy tourist attraction.
Monday at around noon time, the place is almost deserted as there were only 3 tables, after checking their menu at the front we decided to give it a try!
Ordered
Sirloin - Ordered medium rare but arrived medium, I suspect that the heat of the grill is not high enough as, the char marks do not have the right color, also the fat side of the steak could be flamed more to release the beef's natural aroma.
Lamb Cutlet - Also ordered medium rare, the doneness is on point, but again due to the lack of proper heat of the grill, it does not have the char or grilled aroma that is expected.
Both pieces of meat is of good quality but the butcher could do a bit better with the trimming, as both has too much fat in the meat / fat ratio.
Gordon's Mushroom Risotto ( sorry missed the photo ) - flavour is rich and earthy, strong beef stock makes this a savoury dish and can be had by itself, I would love to have offered additional grated parmesan.
Caesar Salad - nice presentation, but wrong use of dish as it is extremely hard to use your knife & fork in a round bowl!
Best of all I have to say is our dessert - simple Apple Pie, baked to perfection, the crust is flaky and very buttery, apple has a slight tartness and was well balance with the brown sugar and cinnamon, perfect match with the Creme Anglaise & ice cream. Kudos to Miss Fa the Pastry Chef!
Service is very attentive, as we brought our senior family members, Mark Lee has been very kind and accommodating from the start to seeing us off!!
A great place to bring your out of town guest or have a family gathering and enjoy some good times up at the Peak! read more
