So I'm reviewing a gas station. So what. If you flatter me profusely every time I come in to buy wine, and don't judge me when that happens to occur twice in one day, and your gas also happens to be the cheapest in the area, you deserve mad props. I hate convenience stores / gas stations and everything about them as a general rule. I see them and think: pee. This place is going to smell of pee. And that prognostication almost always proves true. It's a talent, I know. I can also predict which queues will take the longest at the grocery store and the exact moment at which a show will come back on after a commercial break. It's cray. This place is new, clean and exactly the convenience you're looking for when you don't have time to run to the super market. It also does not smell of pee. Seriously, the two clerks there right now are awesome, they've always got a joke and a compliment for me and serve as an odd reminder that random niceties can really brighten someone's day. How weird is it to say that "when I leave this gas station, I'm usually smiling". It sounds creepy, I know. But the truth is that these gentlemen give great customer service and because of that, I choose this stop specifically over the others in the area expressly because I know I'll be treated well at the counter. That and the fact that their wine selection is phenomenal all things considered, their bathrooms are clean and they've got a kitchen. Glad they opened up and hope to see them doing great business for a long time.

Please have your employees wear masks! Both cashiers today were not compliant. Not the first time!

I love our neighborhood gas station! It's clean with plenty of snack options and friendly staff. We can always find plenty of pumps.

Never did I expect a neighborhood gas station to be my go to for my morning meal!

Shop 24 is one of those few places in the world that is so vitally important to my life that I…read morecould quite possibly die if it ever closed for more than even a second. Smacked down on wonderful Sixth Street Shop 24 is a staple of the street, without it, doors would closed, people would die, the World would quite possibly end. As the previous reviewer mentioned this store really does have everything you could ever need. Besides being a DJ down on Sixth I also install sounds systems in the clubs and on more than a hundred occasions I have needed some emergency item and no matter how weird it was I always seem to find it there. Obviously the prices are a little higher, but hey your paying for the convenience!! The people who work there are very cool, the selection is amazing, they never close and it's pretty much the best place on Earth. ONLY problem is the bums, vagrants, drug addicts, idiots and beggars who like to hang out in the entryway at night. They are annoying, harassing and it's still against the law to shoot them or at least tie them up and recycle them. It's not the stores fault, it's the city's fault, well AND it's the fault of all those idiots who give them change, cigarettes, or even make eye contact with them. It just perpetuates the cycle.

I have been shopping at Shop 24 since 2004 when I first moved to Austin. Hanuman and the crew have…read morebeen there the whole time, and they're great. I used to stop in every morning for coffee and a package of almond windmill cookies. They have everything you'd expect from a convenience store, and a whole lot more. I'm so sad that they no longer sell fried chicken, nor do they have tables any more. I think the homeless messed that up for us. But a big cup of Folgers coffee is still just $1 (keep your burned, bitter Starbucks crap!) and you can buy a straw hat, rawhide whip, shot glass and personalized license plate key chain all in the same place. Need a pair of board shorts, a Hawaiian shirt, sandals and socks? Got it. Can't find a scorpion in a glass ball? Look no further. Need a single battery? There's a bucket of batteries for a quarter each. Longhorns paraphernalia? Of course. They might sometimes seem a bit short with you, but it's a cultural thing. These guys are awesome and really care about you. It's the ONLY store I will shop at when downtown.

I live nearby and I go here every few days. The place suffers a bit from being downtown (higher…read moreprices and unkempt people outside) but on the whole they do fairly well. Contrary to another review, they usually have fresh fruit on hand; bananas in a basket and prepared fruit cups. They have a fair selection of beer, wine, soft drinks and coffees. They have sandwiches and other prepared food (e.g. giant $4 burritos) in the cooler. One time I had to ask for toilet paper and the guy brought it out from the back room. I suppose it took up too much space on the shelf. This is the alternative to Royal Blue, which has even higher prices, although Royal Blue makes some food in-house. On the whole, I prefer Second Street because Royal Blue has a weird vibe and some weird brands and this place is a regular store.

Honestly unremarkable. An independent convenience store that knows it can charge more because of where it is. The staff were friendly enough, but the stock was kind of limited. That might be due to so many people being in town that week but they seemed to run out of drinks fairly quickly. It's also no fault of the store but it's worth mentioning right in front of their doors seems to be a popular hangout for Austin's homeless. I don't think we managed a single visit here without being asked for change. If you need a quick snack they are in a great location, just don't expect an overly pleasant visit.

BRING EXACT CHANGE. BRING EXACT CHANGE. BRING EXACT CHANGE…read more In the heart of 6th St Madness, this shop sells gum & soda (conveniences). However, if you have anything larger than a ~$10, the cashier will probably not take it. And not take it with extreme prejudice, to the point of threatening to kick me out of her store if I didn't get out of her face with my $20. After patiently standing for 10 minutes while enough customers came through to break a $20, I better understood her position. You get drunk people. You get horny guys complaining that 3 condoms is "not enough! I need another pack!" Then explaining that he really needs AT LEAST 9 condoms. You get more drunk people. Now if I want gum, I'll break my bills in a nearby bar. Even a $10 is risky, it's best to have ones. & change.

THE CASHIER SEEMS TO BE DRUGGED UP…read more It's the worst customer service I've ever received in Austin. I was using the ATM on a Saturday night and after I finished my transaction I went to ask the cashier if the restroom was available for customers. She immediately stater cussing at me, so I told her in a very calm tone that she didn't have to be rude, I was just asking a simple yes or no question, she got even worst and threaten me with calling the cops if I didn't leave the premises. I think they need to hire someone with better customer service skills; there's a lot of nice people out there looking for a job. I am a business owner and very proud of offering an Austin typical friendly service, my customers love that.
