Truth be told, if you live nearby or just happened to be in the area like I was, Bread & C. should be at the top of your list to visit. Not because the owner will gladly give you something on the house because you only carry your card and don't have enough cash on you to pay for your entire order. But because that's how she is. And, it happened to me. You can tell right of the bat, Laurie has a passion for offering pastries and pleasing their customers. Regardless, Bread & C. has probably gained a lot of attention for the Croissants, Macarons, Cookies, etc. I seriously think though it's because of her Parisian-inspired Hot Chocolate. You're in for a treat. If you know me on Yelp, then you know I haven't had coffee in like umpteen years and when I go for Hot Chocolate or Hot Cocoa, it better be orgasmic. This was it. The only thing that makes me give 4 stars instead of five is that they don't accept credit or debit cards and they accept cash only. Laurie is the best, truly! I couldn't eat anything due to sickness for 5 months, and her blueberry 'scuffins' (scone/muffin combo) saved me. She has got the best pains au chocolat in Larchmont and I don't say this lightly. I'm a huge fan and they're the perfect size, flavour, amount of chocolate, everything a true pain au chocolat should be. She catered birthday cupcakes made of chocolate ganache for my son's special day at my home for adults and children - they were so popular, people had 3-4 each and I literally could not control them! We opted for some coffee and a fresh waffle with powdered sugar as recommended by the baker. Just remember it's CASH or CHECK only!!!! We had to go to an ATM. There was one close by though. Now the sandwiches are amazing, so don't leave without one. I had the homemade multigrain scone with beets and goat cheese. Omg, drool. It's small though, so don't expect to get full. It's more of an experience. Then the other sandwich I loved was the fig and brie panini. Yum. My fiance loved them too. We also tried a Belgian waffle for $5 because they won awards for it. Light and flakey. The options are okay, but the customer service is lacking. On top of that, the employee IS the owner. I get not everyone is peppy and talkative, but then hire an employee that is. Anytime the customer service is bad or you just get the impression you are unwanted, it makes a person never want to return again. A tiny, yummy bakery, Bread & Cocoa has delicious chocolate croissants (on the pricey side but well worth it!) and fresh baguettes. The lady who runs this store bakes her goods in the back and you can tell that everything is quite fresh. LOVE Bread and Cocoa! Laurie, the owner, is always friendly and makes the most delicious pastries and lunches in Larchmont. Laurie's sweets and desserts are better (and better priced) than any of the other local competition. My favorites are the little sandwiches - especially the ham and cheese on pretzel bread.
