This place is filled/employed with "bubba's" from South Houston who feel anyone walking in the door must be a criminal and treated as such. They pretty much handle most legal matters from tickets, checks, and child custody/support issues. Example of one encounter that isn't dramatized for the readers. All events are real and the people are real. I had to go to the bathroom during our long wait. I came out to wash my hands and just started soaping up when a Bubba Female exited the stall and stood behind me saying "excuse me". I really didn't think she was talking to me because there were two sinks. Turned out I was wrong! She got louder and essentially used her amazon frame to move me over to the next sink... Except for the ADA's I observed (including the one my friend talked to) most people wearing the Brazoria County windbreakers were pretty much the same way. I like to offer support to my friends in need but I'm not sure he can pull me away from work again for something like that - unless he promises Joe's (see other review) for lunch!

Dedicated in 1966, this is clearly a "government" building from the look and feel, a "Moderne" style. It is a six-story concrete and glass structure. The first story has a wide brown colored band of concrete supported by concrete pillars. The upper stories include a concrete lattice over the recessed windows. The roof line is flat. The courthouse was built in the 1960's, and has a design that doesn't really fit in with any of the other architecture of the area. It's got an underground parking garage, and concrete shades to keep the sun out of the courtrooms inside. The overhanging second floor is interesting, where you can walk under it, and stay in the shade. At the far end of the Main Square is a large Confederate memorial. It reads, "Lest we forget" and features the Confederate flag carved in stone, two stone cannon barrels, and a obelisk with a rebel soldier in uniform. The whole set up seems like an anachronism, with the old monument in front of the modern design of the courthouse. There's plenty of parking if you're not allowed in the underground parking area. Just park along the square. The paved areas have seats if you are looking for a place to hang out and get out of the sun. It's picturesque here, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.
