We genuinely love this library. I grew up coming here but now I bring my kid here to check out…read morebooks and play in their great kids section whenever we are in town. The museum upstairs is spectacular and really honors the island and its history.

I had been wanting to visit the Rosenberg Library since booking my vacation to Galveston. This…read morelibrary did not disappoint! The Rosenberg Library is huge! On the fourth floor, they have it dedicated to the history of Galveston. It was interesting to learn more about the 1900 hurricane that devastated Galveston. The library did a fantastic job with that exhibit as well as the Galveston's African American history and the history of Galveston in general. There is also a rare book room as this floor and very clean restrooms. The third floor was the young adult and computer area which we did not go to, but it did look nice. The second floor had books, board games, video games, DVDs, audiobooks, and more to check out. (We needed up checking out a board game for our stay.) This floor also had magazines, a community jigsaw puzzle, a small used bookshop area (with books available for cheap and in great condition), and a few other things. The ground floor hosts the children's area which we did not go to, but it looked like a cute and engaging area for children. The circulation desk is on the ground floor as well. Staff was all very friendly as well. There's also ample free parking in the parking lot for the library as well. Definitely check out this library when you're in Galveston.

On February 16 I was visiting the city of Galveston. I parked my car and noticed there were varying…read moreways by which to pay for parking. I went to the pay machine at the nearest corner, and a gentleman was frustrated because he had tried his credit card a number of times, and the machine kept on saying "invalid." He told me "good luck". I then tried two credit cards a number of times and it came back repeatedly invalid even though both credit cards had just been used and one of them was used a half hour later every time valid. I then noticed a sign saying I could pay by app. So I called the number, followed the instructions very carefully, used my credit card to pay and the indication was I had three hours because I just paid $6.75. A little under three hours later, I came back. and found a parking ticket on my car. I even wrote a letter to the Municipal Court in which I stated all the above and that I had tried to do the right thing in every way possible to pay for parking. So I sent them a check for the $33 ticket and a check for the $6.75 that I believed I had already paid for the three hours and told them that I had done everything I could to do the right thing and now it was up to them. They unfortunately kept the ticket for $33 and sent me back my check for $6.75. In my opinion, they did not do the right thing.

HA! Where to start!? For starters their court time are…read moreALWAYS 8 O'clock!! Like why!? I live 2 hours away and you want me to be here at 8 AM!? Girl...Bye! Well long story short, Galveston County is antiquated on their reporting system. Can you believe they hand write tickets.....STILL!? You'd think with all that tax money from the colleges, businesses, and tourist money they could at least afford a better system. I received a letter at my parents house about a ticket that I have not taken care off, they send it to my parents since while I was in college in the island my DL had my parents address and said I had court on XX date. I couldn't make it and called to change it and/or have it dismissed since I NEVER RECEIVED A TICKET FROM THEM TO BEGIN WITH!!! I was given all the info I needed, suggested to come in with proof of license, insurance or vehicles and proof that the vehicle that I was stopped with wasn't my vehicle since it was registered under a different name. I walked in before my court date to clear my name but the front counter administrators were the worst!! They did not want to look into my case since I was under the suspicion that someone had stolen my Identity since I have NOT received any tickets since 2008. All they kept stating is "Ma'am you just need to come on your court date" I was not willing to loose the fight since I work for Law and Public safety and kept asking for any higher ups down the chain of command until I was given the answer I wanted and had someone look into this case. These type of cases can be taken care of even before a judge reviews the case. At the end I yelled at them to simply give my ticket to a different Monica L., I didn't care which one because at the end of the day they had no proof that it was me. (One lady finally realized that they didn't have my ID number and said that it was awfully odd that they couldn't get it since my number has never changed). So after one other lady said that I just needed to come to my court date and handle it, I had enough and had the ticket that "I" signed and what do you know.....my signature did NOT match nor did MY NAME!!! It was a ticket for a Martha with the same last name!! At the end after kept fighting the 5+ ladies and not willing to come to court, they apologized for the inconvenience and removed it from my record. Morale of the story: NEVER GIVE UP!
