Brawley's is a Park Road staple and one of the OG Charlotte bottle shops. They are well supplied with a blend of local Charlotte brews as well as some harder to find micro brews. It's definitely geared towards beer but they have other beverages available as well, and they typically will have a food truck post up on busy nights. There are no TVs and most of the seating is set up as couches which gives it an intimate lounge vibe where you can hang with some friends and converse. Outside they have picnic benches and fire pits so on a beautiful summer night it's a good spot to post up. Not my usual type of hang but I definitely appreciate the vibe here and enjoy popping in for a brew every now and then. read more

Onsite parking is always a challenge, but the lot directly across Park Road usually has spaces available. Taprooms are social places, always. A small store with interesting beers and a spacious outdoors seating with casual picnic benches looks laid back. When you walk in and meet the bartender, you are in for one of the friendliest bunch of folks who are always up to suggest and recommend, and super chill. Most of seating is outdoors. They have water /Food bowls for dogs. Plenty of parking behind the place. There are nearby food options and you can BYOF. Viva chicken and smash burger are less than a block away. First time in here and I wasn't disappointed at all. I drive by here often and see how crowded and popular it gets so I figured I had to stop in eventually. My girlfriend and I decided on a whim to give it a shot. Walking in the door the bottle selection looked promising. Many of these places tend to have specialty beers in bottles (imperials, IPAs, stuff like that) that I don't drink much of. We jumped to the bar and grabbed a few pints to drink first while we perused the coolers and shelves for some take-home stuff. The TV screen menu has two pages and features what looks like about 20 different beers on draft. Lots of local stuff and some not-so-local. My girlfriend went for something unique as always. I just did something safe. The bottle selection is what I really want to talk about though. Seriously a lot of great options that span the beer choices out there. There's the IPAs and imperials and such. But there are wheat beers, ciders and unique things that are more palatable too. Prices turn out to not be so bad too, as a result. You can get cans, 12 oz bottles and large bottles with corks or plungers. We checked out for under $25 for 2 drafts and 2 bottles. Will definitely go back for the atmosphere too. read more

Perhaps the best beer selection in Charlotte (both on draft and bottles/cans), served up by friendly, knowledgeable staff! I love that they have so many hard to find craft beers. We recently enjoyed several pints of Cold Mountain -- both 2014 and 2015, sadly we missed the coconut -- when no one else in Charlotte had it on draft. The last time at visited Brawley's, the place looked completely different. There was no bar! After dropping my wife off for a spa day, I get the need for my own kind of spa day. When I walked in, the man who I would assume owned the place, was doing inventory. It was early, so I was the only customer. He gave me time to get a good look at the menu before he came over to greet me. He was not overly friendly and not rude. I ordered a couple of beers and we shared a short conversation and that was about it. No, banal banter. Just a comfortable silence in between my beers. To me, that's a good time. read more

We went here on a Wednesday for a happy hour. For the first hour we enjoyed it. The beer selection was good and we were able to get a table inside. Then more people got there and it started getting louder and louder. We eventually had to go outside because you couldn't even hear the person next to you if you were yelling. It was pretty chilly outside so we didn't last long and just went to Pasta and Provisions where it was warm, quiet, and they have food as well as alcohol. I've heard scary stories about this owner but they're completly wrong. I met him and he's sooooo nice. Great local hang out close to home, and they also offer wine!! After hearing so much about Brawleys on Beer advocate, I decided that I would give it a shot. My first impression (before I walked in), was that this place looks too small to have a wide variety of craft beers. Boy was I mistaken!! Brawleys is packed with all kinds of craft beers. The organization is a bit random, but it gives you a reason to carefully look over all of their options. Mike is definately very helpful and willing to make suggestions. On my first visit he let me pick a free piece of glassware from his large selection. I will definately be a repeat customer... This is by far the best beer store in Charlotte. read more

Love this place! So laid back and casual, absolutely relaxing place to sit outside in the sun with a beer. The service is wonderful, beers are constantly on rotation, dogs are welcome, theres an area outside for bocci ball - but it's basically a place to corral small children :) Best tip about this place: they close early, like 9pm at the latest. read more

I first visited Brawley's when I was in town visiting. At the time, the store was in the middle of renovations. Despite the chaos and clutter, I was impressed by the selection of beer and the helpful service. Since moving to Charlotte at the end of the summer, I've gone to nearly all of the other bottle shops in town, and none have come close to Brawley's, especially now that the renovations are complete and the taps are flowing. Mr. Brawley knows his stuff, and his recommendations are spot-on. I always appreciate how he keeps customers in the loop through social media. Be sure to like the store's Facebook page so that you can stalk all of the new beer arrivals. Brawley's is a little bit of a hike for me, but it's worth it every time. read more

After all these years I finally was at the right place and had the time to pop in here. Certainly this place is a beer lover's delight but they also carry a wine selection for those that would rather take home some vino. The interior is simple in design and the beer is shelved in order of the style of beer. Whether that is an IPA, Stout or brown ale you'll find plenty here to go through and make a selection. Interestingly enough, they are in the process of building an outdoor patio and expanding the interior to include taps, etc. That will be awesome once its' complete. Brawley's is a good chill hangout/bottle shop. The beer has a slight premium cost attached to it, but the atmosphere and selection make it palatable. The owner/bartender is a super awesome guy, will give you a good selection if you tell him what you like. Also, they are very causal as you settle up at the end of the night. It is kinda like a honor system. (My theory is that he has a photographic memory.) Make sure to add your classy flair to the bar top, but don't touch my coaster. read more

Why oh why did I wait 4 years to give Brawley's Beverage a try? My husband and I took our in-laws (who were visiting from out of state) to Brawley's on the day after Thanksgiving. Our original plan was to brewery hop, but all of our favorite breweries were super crowded -so we decided to go pick up a few of our favorite local beers from a local retailer to drink at home. When we got to Brawley's we were pleasantly surprised that they recently added a bar with several taps of the owner's favorite beer! We bought a few bottles of some interesting-sounding IPAs and then sampled a few of the brews they had on tap. There are 3 -4 tables set up near the bar with comfortable chairs and a nice view of Park Road. We loved the atmosphere and the personalized customer service we received from the owner. We were charmed by the fact that his mother was helping him decorate his store for Christmas while he was busy answering our questions about different breweries and beer varieties; these are the types of things that make me proud to support local businesses. If you haven't been to Brawley's give it a try, you will be pleased with their diverse beer selection and even more pleased with the quality customer service you'll receive. This is the perfect spot to go when you're looking for a low-key place to grab a beer. The owner is fantastic and welcoming--he will let you try different beers and make recommendations based on your preferences. It's a different system...essentially based on trust, where he does not take your card when you start a tab--you are required to keep track of your drinks and report out when paying. Very different, I love that he has faith in honesty! There is a great outdoor space with open seating (some covered, some not covered) to people watch. Someone literally blew out a wall, replaced it with floor to ceiling windows and turned on the lights - a total extreme makeover! It doesn't even feel like the same place! Even though the retail space is small, the selection is pretty well chosen! Mike Brawley knows his $hit! Sit at the bar or at tables inside or out. A Bocce Ball court out front. And of course it's old news that they now serve draught beer. Really like the honor system, where you settle up at the end (although it can be hard to remember some of the super long crazy beer names nowadays). I'm quite the beer snob, and Brawley's has a great selection, but I just can't bring myself to support this establishment at all. The owner was incredibly arrogant, and actually refused to sell me three kegs of beer (one of them was a pretty rare variety, but I was still planning on dropping about $500 on beer in one afternoon at his store) and his comment to me was "Sorry, I can't sell this to you, because I have to save it for my 'GOOD' customers" What was especially frustrating was the owner of the Brewery had told me to contact Brawley's, and emailed them as well, telling Mike that I'd be coming by for a specific keg. I was shocked and horrified. I do a lot of event planning for big parties, etc. Unfortunately, I will NEVER purchase beer from this place again. I'll stick to Tom at the Common Market, and the great staff at Total Wine & More (Matthews location) for my beer purchases from now on. read more

If you want beer, this is the place to go. The only place in Charlotte that I've found that comes close to their selection is the Common Market. Mike is constantly getting new types of beer in and even after a few visits will remember what type of beer you like and steer you in the direction of the newest beer of that type he's discovered. If you don't know what type of beer you like he will walk through the store with you asking you what you like in a beer and make suggestions to you. Then he will make suggestions on beers that are similar to what you like so you can try new types of beer. HIs suggestions are almost always delicious and he always asks how you liked it the next time you come in the store. If you want wine then talk to his mother. Mother and son are very knowledgeable about the drinks they sell. Brawley's is a little more expensive that going to Total Wine or Harris Teeter but really only a little. The personal interaction, great selection, and ability to spend local are completely worth the dollar. read more

A true master of stocking shelves in a disheveled building off of Park Rd to make it into a beer-lover's dream come true. It's small, packed, choc of bloc filled with kegs, sixers, coolers packed to the brim, beer on top of things, and so on. There is method to this madness and it all starts with Mike. He'll give you the rundown and show you the true, underlying magic of this malty toy store. Not sure what you're in the mood for? Mike knows what you're after. He's the most approachable guy I've met in a long time. The kind of guys you just want to know, kick back at a barbeque with and tell old stories with. A real man's man. The selection is incredible. Tons upon tons of local and craft brews. Heavy Seas, Terrapin, and North Coast are a few of my favs that he carries.
