I came to this salon only because they carried the goldWell that I was initially using for my hair. Although it seems very unprofessional for them to color your hair, wash it and then send you home with it fully wet. Not even a blow dry is offered, because it costs extra. Never in my entire life of having my hair done, have I needed to leave like a wet dog. They should truly consider just adding that as a service, and you would probably get more of a tip. They were very heavy and unfortunately, you could see the tracks behind my head which made me very self-conscious. I recently got highlights done at a reputable establishment (obviously not here), and thought it would be fun to see what my options were for having straight hair for the summer. I allowed Monique to do a Japanese straight perm on my already highlighted hair not knowing that IT SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN DONE! As a stylist who is educated, you should know better. I was refused a refund because the stylist worked for "8 hours". I paid $1,000 and now have to pay more money somewhere else to try and save my hair. I rarely write reviews, unless I receive very bad service or exceptional service. In this case, it's EXCEPTIONAL service! I was in need of a new hair stylist and I am very picky when it comes to my hair. Needless to say, I did a lot of research, narrowed it down to 3 stylists and had consultations with each of them. I have been patiently transitioning from dark hair to gray hair, and wanted someone that was 1) experienced and knowledgeable 2) communicates well and 3) understands the chemistry of hair color. Well...I found that individual at Bravo Salon in Scottsdale. YAY!!! I met with Thea and we talked at length...she was able to understand what I wanted and explain to me the science of color and chemical processing. I was adamant that it was important to me to maintain the integrity and condition of my hair, while looking as natural as possible. Thea listened patiently to me and we landed on a plan. I left the salon knowing how much it would cost and how long the process would take, which I appreciated as there were no surprises. A refreshing change from some of the local high-end salons in the area. The day of my appt arrived and I was greeted cheerfully by Trudy, the salon manager and offered coffee while I waited for my appt with Thea. I spent 4+ hours in her chair...it was worth every minute. Thea is highly skilled and takes great pride in her work. You might say she is a perfectionist. She also has 20+ years experience doing hair. I not only got the color I wanted, but probably one of the best haircuts I have had in a long time. She used amazing shampoo, conditioners and styling products, which I purchased as I could not get over how great my hair looked and felt. I had zero visible damage and almost 2 weeks later my hair continues to feel soft, manageable and looks healthy! I cannot recommend Thea and Bravo Salon any higher. The worst highlight I have ever had. I showed the stylist a picture and asked for blond highlights. When she was done, my hair was darker with almost no highlights (almost looked gray). The manager said she would redo it (no way would I let them "try again) or offered me half off the price. The owner agreed it wasn't right but still charged me. Totally overpriced. Not good. She admits to self-bleaching throughout her career until recently letting her silver hair show through. I have died my hair throughout my career too as it has been convenient especially with root touch ups. Maye describes the color she (we) got as "blondge" meaning half orange-blonde. Now, getting mine to grow out half-way, I approached Grant and Alicia at Bravo with my two-tone hair, topped off by 6 inches of black with a tiny amount of silver. Again, unlike Maye, according to my gene pool my hair will silver at about age 100. All of this did not present a problem to the kind people at Bravo who spent a day recoloring my "fashion don't" hair. Patiently, Grant went through it strand by strand lifting some and darkening others. Although the process was painstaking, they did it all while making me feel excited about the outcome... even girlish glee. And, Voila, now that it is done, I am proud to say that I look like the best version of myself. Despite a fractured cervical collar that makes going to a beauty sink the stuff nightmares are of made of (they even have a foam prop that takes the pain out of that), we made it through the 5 and 1/2 hour process. Even as a former model, it can be easy to not pay attention to yourself or the message you project anymore. But, why? It can be fun to be the best version of yourself. I made an appointment twice with a girl named Kristen. The first appointment that I had with her and only appointment that I had with her she did a great job with my color. However, she complained the whole time. The only reason I made another appointment with her because I did like the color that she did, however, when I went to my appointment, they did not have me written down. I made another appointment for the 14th of this month and the same thing happened. The owner messaged me and told me she could get me in however I have never had someone be so entitled to think that I would just go to them without knowing the kind of work that they do. I have been coming here for more than 10+ years now. I absolutely love and adore everyone who works here. Especially Kim. Alicia has always been so friendly and easy to work with and communicate with. I have always had amazing experiences, and so has my teen. I've gotten perms, cuts and my teen has had the Japanese treatment twice with cuts. Kim always made sure to minimize the process to avoid damage for me and my teen. Always using very good products that help moisturize, and give volume as well. We've never had a bad experience. They make you feel like family here. The conversations we have while having service done is so much fun too. I recently got my hair cut short again and I LOVE it. I still have a perm that I'm blow drying out, but Kim got my hair feeling so healthy again, that I am just loving it so much more. Everyone will have their own experiences but please be respectful and kind to these ladies. They're always so wonderful, and will always do what they can to help. With pricing, they are master stylists, and there is an inflation and tax hike like never before, so please be understanding. I originally came here a few weeks ago and did not like the perm that I received because it was not curly and was more frizzy than anything. I have bleach in my hair from a balayage I got elsewhere (which I liked). My issue with the balayage was when I added layers to the hair, it no longer looked good and I had to continue to get my color fixed or else it looked like a raccoon's tail. I opted to get a perm for more body and also to fix that issue which it did fix, but I really did not like the texture that it gave me. I think if I would have known that the bleach was going to be that bad on my texture I wouldn't have done it, but I didn't realize until a week later. After expressing how I didn't like it, Alicia helped bring it back to the way it was with a keratin treatment and also gave me a haircut to cut some of the dead ends off. I made a decision to get a spiral perm, because I like to have volume in my hair. Unfortunately, as you get older your hair texture changes, so I researched salons in Arizona that offered spiral perm services. I was paired with Theo and from the beginning of my appointment she asked a lot of questions about my hair regarding coloring, etc. so that she could proceed accordingly and make sure I knew what can happen when getting a perm. She was realistic in discussing what I could expect. She listened to my answers carefully and formulated a plan regarding perming my hair. I also needed a haircut, it had been a while and my hair is very dry. She cut my hair first before perming and she took her time and did not rush the process at all.
