It's more than annoying for those of us that aren't trying to camp all night at a table (and just have a college kid coming to meet us from parts afar), but it is their policy to control the seats and they will NOT alter it. Even better their next door neighbor is Badger Hill Brewing & Coffee. Recommend their wings especially the pineapple habanero sauce, chopped crispy pork belly taco (sub with flour tortillas), al pastor taco, carne asada taco, &birria tacos. Bravis has been a staple in my weekend diet for the better part of two years now. They started as a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in downtown Shakopee, after gaining a massive following they opened a new updated location in eye sight of Canterbury Park's race track. The menu has lots of appealing choices, from a multitude of fun taco options to a pineapple bowl (a half cut open pineapple filled with rice, meat, veggies and other tasty ingredients). Not to forget, a great cocktail menu with a plethora of tasty drinks. For this review I am choosing to go with the Birria Tacos, as Bravis has my favorite in the state. The consomé is rich and savory and I am not embarrassed to say I drink it after my meal. The tacos are filled with slow roasted, melt-in-your-mouth shredded beef inside a crispy shell. It's topped with cilantro, onion and melted cheese and even comes with a side salsa that is delectable. The ambiance is great, the restaurant has a sleek and modern design with fun decorations and art. I went here with a group of girlfriends before a concert, and it was a very cute restaurant with plenty of seating for the six of us. The food was really great and a good price but ordering was very confusing. You had to do it over an app and stand at the counter and it wasn't loading on my phone and going into the computer so I had to have somebody else do it and it just was confusing other than that everything was great. We had the chips with queso cheese and guacamole and Birria tacos. I'm not sure about the parking because we walked from the hotel we were staying at. read more

The food was amazing! We ordered the ceviche as an appetizer and wow, it was so good! For food we had the birria pizza and I was initially hesitant because they're usually very greasy but it was perfect! It was crispy and not greasy at all. The service was great, too! We called 5 mins before we got there asking if they had room and luckily they did. We got seated almost immediately and got our drinks within minutes. The vibe was so chill, too! It was very dim with Latin music. We were gifted a brewery hop passport book for Christmas and this restaurant was attached they have a small win do we were able to order form. Portion sizes were large, food was amazing some of the best tacos we have had in MN. I didn't even get a pic of the carne asada tacos all tortillas were hand made. 5/5 sales have a kick so watch out. This place is located in Shakopee so as you're driving here, you might think you're going into a new housing development, but the building itself is beautiful. The decor and lighting inside of the restaurant is very nice. It gives you a Hispanic home away from home vibe. Do you like Birria? Who doesn't! The Birria at Bravis did not disappoint! Delicious, cheesy, hearty, the tortillas are preferable to others I've had, all around I'd say top 3 Birria I have had. The consumme could've had more flavor and spice, but not bad. The hot sauce is not hot. I sat at the bar at Badger Hill Brewery, and was able to order and pickup food from the window inside the brewery which was awesome. The restaurant side was loud and vibrant, while the brewery was low key. Not much to say on the service of Bravis as I picked up from the window, but the cashier was friendly. I ate with two friends who ordered other tacos, and the tacos had much more meat per taco than the birria in my photo, so while you get 4 birria and 2 regular tacos per order, the servings on the regular tacos were great. I went back. Got the chili lime wings. They were quite satisfactory with a lime zing. read more

This place is fine. Some things better than others. Got the salsa flight and added guac and cheese dip. Salsas were decent. Guac was great but the cheese dip left a lot to be desired. Gave vibes of velveeta processed cheese. Not great. The chips seemed to have been made in house and that was due to the inconsistency with how they were cooked. Some were perfect and crispy, others were chewy, stale or undercooked. They remind me more of pita chips than they do of tortilla chips. The taquitos were crispy but lacked flavor. They were cold in the center and were served barely like warm on the outside. I suspect they were either frozen or been sitting out awhile. The chili lime wings were good. Not sure I'd need to have them again but did enjoy them. There was a lot of seasoning in them and most of it just falls off but at least they were hot. The basic blue cheese and ranch were fine with it but would have expected something more unique to go along with it. The margaritas were fine. Not worth $13 but were fine. They tasted more like orange than lime and didn't taste an alcohol. They attempted to put salt on the rim but I think the bartender might have used water to get it to stick and well, that doesn't work. The al pastor and carnitas tacos were good. Some of the better items for sure. The place was busy but no wait for two. The servers are running around like crazy yet I felt our service was below par and could have been more attentive. Would I go back? Probably. I won't crave the food and experience and rush back, however. read more

Made my first trip to new Bravis location in the Canterbury Downs development. Was really looking forward to enjoying the Birria Tacos and was absolutely blown away with these tasty treats. The Birria tacos come 4 to an order which I split with my daughter along with the deeply satisfying dipping sauce consome'! We also split the pork belly tacos which came two to an order. So good! The order came with four tacos and I could only eat three after housing so many nachos. Great flavor, tender meat, and delicious salsa/dipping concoction for even more taste. I would venture to say this is a new favorite Mexican place! Everything looked and smelled so good. Only negative I can saw is that my margarita tasted like a first time college bartender made it. These birria tacos changed my life! They are so good and definitely the best I've ever had. You get four in one order, so we split that and the cali fries. It was a good amount of food for us, but we had wished we'd gotten all birria tacos because they're so good! We did love the cali fries too. The mojito is simply amazing as well. Do not let yourself walk by Bravis in downtown Shakopee. This small, modern style Mexican fare restaurant can be easy to pass by. What's lacking in size is easily made up by big flavors and portions. A restaurant of only about 10 tables is a bit loud and echoey but gives it a fun atmosphere with the room being filled with lots of cheer and laughter with a beautiful painting on one wall and a collage of photo on the other. I had the Pineapple Bowl which comes with a combination of two meats (you can opt for all 3 meats for an additional $3.00 - DO IT!) sautéed with bell peppers and onions. Served over a bed of jasmine rice with a side of our house made teriyaki sauce. I was visiting my son and his family and they took me to Bravis the day I arrived. Everything is fabulous from the newness of the building/restaurant interior to the fresh ingredients and tasty preparation of each food item. I follow a low carb diet/lifestyle and was able to adhere to it by just eating the generous toppings ( we added guacamole too) on the very yummy nachos and ordering the meat dish of steak, chicken and chorizo. My kids took home the leftover carbs that I don't eat ( tortillas, beans, rice, etc) . My 10 month old granddaughter loved the black beans, carne asada and guacamole. My kids had the tacos and burrito, and they were also excellent. My tequila, soda, lime juice drink was perfectly crafted with just the right amounts of ingredients .
