To the Yelp readers. I am flabbergasted by the last comments and only 5 out of 7 comments made. Let's do a reality check. Thank you to the 2 positive reviews. I am in agreement there is a problem w/members of the staff (they are the front line -they are good at what they do however a little refresher in public/patient relations is in order) that's when one takes ownership and asks for the doctor call you back direct. Let's remember quality vs quantity. Dr. Braverman is excellent in his field. As he does have ancillary employees, it's a sign of his quality and teachings. Not incompetent in any way, knows what he is doing with out a doubt. Do your research Dr. Braverman is TOP in his field in the state of Florida, New York and the Country.... The Dr. Has written so much he is a skilled clinician as well as an accomplished educator. Not only is one anxious when making these life changing decision one is also in someone else's hands. And for one I am happy to be a witness to such a unique and rare eye condition in the presence of an expert. And fortune to find the authority in Rare Eye Conditions. (Toxoplasmosis) for My dear Friend, Patient Thomas J. Murray I witness nothing but exemplary patient care. In such a serious matter. The doctor saved Mr. Murray's Retina. 14 years later here we are to present. Mr. Murray has returned do to a partially detach cornea related to a bad contact lens experience. Bravo-Dr. Braverman, you have saved his eye again. In closing, if for some reason you are having a financial problem, a treatment problem, or are not following the doctors immaculate treatment orders. STOP don't complain, speak with the Doctor... If by now one does not know waiting will take place in a waiting room, then I can say, you don't want a doctor to pay attention to your very unique and medically over all health!! Customer service can use HUGE improvement! Run away from this place. It USED to be good, but Braverman eye center has lost it's quality! Their staff can definitely use some training on how to treat patients, or even use new staff. It's not right to have an appointment scheduled for so long, then call the patient on the same day an hour before their appointment (after they've rearranged their whole day) to cancel their appointment because they made a mistake! And it's not the first time it happened. They make too many mistakes! One of the girls is too busy on the computer online shopping instead of tending to the patients and she gets REALLY loud with all patients, embarrasses them in front of everyone. Just plain rude, nasty! Definitely do not recommend going here, EVER! read more

While going here for an eye exam, not surgery, I am certain Ill never ever return. Try calling them and see what you get. When picking up a contact lens order, you wait for Optical to take care of people being fitted for their glasses. When I ask why I couldn't just pick up from front desk, I was told I should've called first to request this. Yes, well, answer the PHONE. Also, front desk person tells me they aren't affiliated with the optical department. That's an FYI for your information. read more

Very disappointed. Braverman uses a call center. When we arrived for the appointment the front desk advised the exam will not be covered by insurance. I called the insurance company and corrected the error on Braverman's mistake. The exam was completed by a tech and not a doctor. Doctor comes in when the exam was complete. When I had questions the dr did nothing to address my concerns and questions and said she wanted to do something to protect her license. At that point, I left. I will find a place that is professional and cares about patients. BTW- several office employees were overheard saying they wanted to work day to be over with. The office is in an old funeral home. I was in for a diabetic screening and its impact on my eyes ..I did the screenings and met Dr. Braverman..he prescribed a new eye drop to help my glaucoma optic pressure. The office never sent the Rx to my pharmacy..I called 5 times and left simple messages..I never got a return call and the Rx still hasn't been filled. While I appreciate Dr Braverman, the fact that they could not help me nor return a call, nor fill an RX is a direct reflection on the guy who's name is on the building. The responsibility starts at the top..this was a complete failure ..btw I cancelled my follow up appt today..I'll find a new Doctor read more

I wrote a negative review of the center because i was seen by a Dr Rohas at the holy wood center, He recommended Catarac surgery Non-laser He said that a person would call me to schedule an appointment. That was many weeks ago. about 5 or6 messages . No one called me.I told my primary care Doctor and I got a call from the center, Asking me to reschedule an appointment. Turns out that Dr Rohas no longer works for Braverman. so I understood The delay. I have been going to this center for several years,Ilied ths Doctors assigned to me and the personnel at the Center. I visited Dr.Braverman at his previous address in Hallandale Beach boulevard shopping center,he performed this cataract surgery on my right eye,I never been happy comfortable or satisfied with result and the lens, went back to his office and complained several times and I was told that ,they were hoping that my brain is going to get used to it , and never attempt to rectify the problem, I'm still suffering from the very same problem !! Seen by medical assistant. i Have called office 3 times left a message to follow up on my eyedrop prescription which needed authorization it is now 3 weeks and not one return phone call in reference to my prescription. not very happy with patient to doctor service. read more

If you ever get in to see the doctor, then maybe this is for you. I have gone five or six times now but have only ever seen someone twice. I've walked out twice now because my appointments have been for very specific times like today 10:20am . I even called ahead today because of previous ridiculous wait times. Oh I can't tell you that she says! I went anyway, signed in at 10:16 for 10:20 appointment. Waiting room was full!! Waited and waited, at 11:30 I noticed 3 people left in room. I got up and left! It's now 3:30 pm and no one even called! Not the first time but it will be my last. Next call is to my insurance company to give them some feedback. Oh yes and make sure you have your referral absolutely correct because they never check ahead to make sure it's correct until you get there! read more

Went for first appointment with dr Lane. Been seeing him for over 18 years. Excellent doctor He had private office and now at Braverman. Waiting room with 13 people seated and others standing. Two people walked in without masks. Receptionist noticed after they sat down and asked them to put mask on. Some seats had tape for social distancing. I waited outside. After 30 minutes of what was supposed to be FIRST PATIENT I inquired. Was told running behind. How can you be running behind with first patient. I left. Didn't feel safe with coronavirus conditions. Addendum I've since added a review of Dr.Jon Jacobs, optometrist, located in Broward County. He was the original doctor who pre tested out son for qualification for Lasik surgery. That pre testing took him six months of indecisiveness. He finally gave Dr. Braverman the approval to go forward. Obviously now, in retrospect, we realized that his vacillating opinions in the 6 month pre testing period meant the tests were not conclusive or consistently positive for the go ahead safely. He was our family optometrist for many years. Little did we know how his actions legally blinded our 23 year son, left him legally blind and continued into his life of Major Depression, and suicidal ideation! read more

Dr. Braverman performed cataract surgery on my mother for both eyes. When we were told the fees and made payment (no easy feat) we were not told of any additional charges. YET, NMB surgical center is charging us hundreds of dollars. They explained that the funds need to be forwarded from your office or we will need to pay them. I have left over 20 numerous messages over the past 3 WEEKs. And cannot get anyone to return my calls addressing this. You may have a highly revered doctor but your customer service and communications are very poor. It took me 2 weeks to pay for the surgery, since no one returns calls. Takes days or weeks to be able to make an appointment or even inquire about medications needed. Rarely does anyone answer the phone and no one EVER returns messages. I just called a few minutes ago and asked "who is your office manager?" . The lady inquired "what is this pertaining to?". I responded, "I just need the name of your office manager", dead silence for 2 seconds and then I was put on hold for 6 minutes, only to be eventually transferred to, yet another, voicemail. BTW- still don't know the name of your office manager. That should not be a difficult question. Yes, I am frustrated. I don't know about you folks but when we pay thousand of dollars both out of pocket and via insurance, I expect better service and respect. read more

Nice staff, horrible and rude Dr.Braverman I went there last Friday, because I suspected my wife to have poor eyesight. The front desk staff and nurse (who took the first few tests) were nice and respectful; especially the nurse who attended my wife. She took my wife's autism into consideration and adjusted for her needs. When it was time to see Dr.Braverman for the final results, he raised his voice at my wife to put her stim toy down. My wife has adult autism and the entire experience spikes her heart rate and anxiety, therefore, she must stim to calm down. She was also trying to recover from a knee injury and was walking on crutches the entire time, so she was not feeling good already. He practically yelled at my wife to stop stimming, so he can review her eyes. I thought this was an EYE center, not a hand and eye center. After yelling at her, my wife shut down and later cried at checkout. We informed the checkout front desk person about this, and all they could offer was an apology. We will NOT be returning to this place again. We were recommended to Eye Surgery Associate in Hollywood, for next time. -Sincerely, a very pissed off wife. read more

They kicked out a patient for trying to rescue a tiny sick kitten. They taped the kitten in a box and left it out in the florida heat to die. They have no compassion and should be ashamed of themselves. The manager is now claiming the patient took the kitten home. This is a lie. Everything he said is a lie. He's sweetening the story to make himself look good but I kept up with the unfolding and the patient couldn't take the kitten home. The kitten WAS later rescued by a person who was alerted by facebook by the patient. The kitten is safe, but it not with the patient, and no thanks AT ALL to the employees of the eye center who did nothing to help. The owner knows how the internet feels about cats, and is trying to avoid being labeled with animal cruelty. read more

Other yelpers werent kidding when they said there is a long wait. I wish i had packed my lunch and water before coming here. The entire visit took over 2 hours and a lot of waiting. I dont know how a center can provide quality care when there are a lot of students who dont know anything running around examine your eyes. Its more of a volume center. You get a lot of patients in but the quality of the care is compromised. Dr Braverman is very good however. read more

The staff was nice, and after being examined by a very nice student optometrist, I saw Dr. Hargreave. He told me to come back in six weeks to see if a problem with blood vessels he had seen had healed on its own. Then after the apt to follow up on that problem after six weeks, a friend who had just had eye surgery told me that his description of my problem sounded like macular degeneration. I looked it up on the net, and sure enough, what Dr., Hargreave had described sounded just like wet macular degeneration, so I called the office. And called. And called and called and called. I never did get a call back from the doctor. A tech called me after my repeated messages five days after my first call. She assured me that it wasn't macular degeneration, but she expressed that I was being ridiculous. I don't think it's ridiculous at all to want to clarify an exact diagnosis. She told me the name of the diagnosis, "pari papillary hemorrhage," and I wrote it down. I had not, however, been told of that particular name for a diagnosis during my visit. I had first been examined by a student doctor, who had an excellent disposition. Then Dr. Hargreave looked at what she had found to tell me that he saw blood vessels leaking, but that the problem could heal itself. Then I went to the optical boutique with a new eyeglass prescription. The man who works in the eyeglass boutique was unbelievably rude, and the staff told me that he's notorious for being a very rude man- and for no reason at all. He was pretty much hostile, and he disparaged my vision care insurance, regarding me as if I wasn't worth his time nor his courtesy. I think that the optical exam was thorough and professional, but I think that it's entirely unacceptable that once I was told that a problem had been observed that I could not get clarification as to what that problem is after my appointment. It should be considered by any practice to be fairly typical for any patient to call back and ask for clarification about a diagnosis. I shouldn't be regarded as an annoyance who's freaking out over nothing. As for the behavior of the man in the eyeglass boutique- there's just no excuse for his attitude and behavior at all. He wouldn't even acknowledge me when I had walked in. When I had returned after a few minutes at the reception desk, he again ignored me. and when he had spoken to me, he was just plain RUDE. No star the doctor's office may have a very courteous and knowledgeable staff but the on-site optical center is awful, the person that runs it is the most discourteous, not willing to help, angry, sour, doesnt even offer options, i guess he doesnt like to take insurance because he doesnt make enough money as with a regular, before i went i called to make sure they took my insurance i was assured they did to only have me turn around. read more

If you enjoy sitting for more than an hour in a crowded waiting room and then being interrogated by a nasty office manager who is there for the sole reason of extracting the most possible amount of money from you, by all means come here to this quack. (My gut told me to cancel the surgery two or three times after dealing with this witch, but I did not follow my instincts. After a cataract surgery where I complained at every subsequent follow up visit for the weeks following my surgery, Dr Braverman told me that I never advised him of any problem. He had two of his doctors do follow-up exams and the second one found the complication that was a result of the surgery. BUT, Dr Braverman said that my thirty day warranty had already expired. After much protest, he said he would do the necessary YAG treatment that would take a mere few seconds. The night before the procedure, I received a call from his office manager asking me for the credit card I would use for the $800.00+ dollars necessary to pay the Doctor's operating center on 186th Street (The doctor is a partner here or was.) I'm 23 and have been coming here for about 10 year's I love doctor Heargrave and yes they do have student doctors but they seem to always consult with Bravermen or Heargrave at the end of a diagnoses. I would ask for either of those doctors just in case they are professional and experienced. My only problem is the older man who works at the optical. He's extremely rude and nasty. He should have been fired and I honestly refuse to get my glasses from Bravermen because of this guy. Arrogant and rude he is bringing the place down. read more

Came here for LASIK and must say I am glad I did. Rosemary was who helped me with the process and explained everything perfectly. I actually enjoyed my visit and I did not have to wait long at all. ( might be different if you came in for other purposes since there are many patients.) Dr. Braverman was very nice and you could tell he had ALOT of experience with this procedure. During the actual surgery the whole staff was very calming and made me feel more excited than nervous. It was painless and fast. Recovery was really quick. Highly recommend Dr. Braverman if you are seeking to have this life changing operation! read more

i am extremely disappointed with Braverman Eye Institute. I had cataract surgery, but during my original consultation I was advised that upgrading my lens ( $3000) would enable me to see both distance and near as opposed to the normal Medicare covered lens. I did the upgrade. I am so very disappointed as I can not see either close or distance without glasses. I also have been plagued with floaters, especially in sunlight. I had to go to a surgical center in Miami for procedure and was unaware of the additional cost for that facility, based on insurance. i also had 2 follow up procedures to correct some issues. I assumed the surgical center was part of the original thousands I paid. Follow up is terrible as the office visit average time is 2 - 3 hours, not to mention the WAIT time. I felt like a cow being herded from office to office. Terrible experience. Dr Braverman appears for about 2 minutes for every appointment. Try another facility !! read more

Every visits has been exasperating, misplacing my fill and student not taking the time to find my file and doing an unnecessary eye examen dilating my eyes again. The appt was for my upcoming surgery. Needless to say. I waited over 1 hr to see the Dr. to tell me this was not an appt to see him, there for over 2hrs. So far hope the surgery is successful. I was so sorry to read some of these reviews. Monday was 3rd time I have been to this eye care center for a serious problem. Twice I have seen Dr. Braverman. He was very competent and caring man. 2nd time, year ago, he rightfully gave me a little bit of a hard time because I had not been taking care of my side of eye care very well. Monday, I had developed a serious infection in my right eye. The staff worked me in on somewhat of an emergency basis. Stepahnie, the student who initially interviewed me and tested my eyes was very caring and accomplished. I actually thought she was already a licensed physician. After testing she consulted Dr. Hargraves who spent considerable time with me. Both of these lovely care givers were caring and very professional in their explanations of what was wrong and what we needed to do to clear up the problem before I had eye surgery on the 29th. All I can add is this, I would not hesitate to take a loved one to Braverman Eye Center for any eye needs. The entire staff treated us with respect and caring. I went to see Dr. Braverman for a second opinion. As it turns out I was misdiagnosed by my previous doctor. It was the wrong eye! I felt good with multiple students doing examinations and confirming the results. I received the laser procedure and was treated very professionally by the staff. I've read a lot about the guy in the optical department. I think I'm going to visit him next time I go for an appointment. Sounds like a hoot. LOL I do expect to wait when seeing any kind of doctor. I have never been disappointed either, I always get to wait! LOL That's why they call it a waiting room. I initiate a friendly attitude to the staff and they reciprocate. I found the specialist he referred me to to be outstanding. But I found Dr. Braverman more interested in the sexy assistant than me and was rather rude and insulting to me personally cause his assistant seemed to be hitting on me. I suspect he has a harem of help. read more

Dr. Braverman is a windbag. He has had several malpractices. Stay away from this place. I found several of his office staff to be downright nasty. Just like one of your writers said, you get young, inexperienced college students doing the entire eye exam. Dr. Braverman just walks by at the end and shakes your hand. I paid several hundred dollars to be seen by an M.D., not a trainee. The doctor is a dishonest cheater who is only interested in the big money clients who do surgery with him. The young female student that wrote my eyeglass prescription (cost me an extra $50.00) wrote a bad prescription. I had to pay another eye doctor elsewhere for an exam and he said the prescription was way too weak and way off the mark. When I contacted Dr. Braverman's office several times in an effort to get my eyes re-examined by Braverman himself vs. the inexperienced trainee I had, they told me to come back in which I did. When I got there, the staff was hostile and wouldn't re-examine my eyes. My advice is to go elsewhere. read more
