Looking around, most of the table tops were barren of plates. Hungry diners' eyes were locked on the kitchen food counter, hoping that the next plate that appeared was theirs. No words needed, their facial expressions signaled frustration and displeasure. The nice lady delivered menus to our table and straightaway warned "We are shorthanded. If you are in a hurry, you should go somewhere else." I thanked her and we left. So, I didn't try the food, but I really appreciate the honesty. That deserves 5 stars and keeps the Classic Diner on my list of diners to try. I hope they find an excellent cook. Good Luck and we will check back.

She was quick, friendly, and professional. I got a chicken fried steak, baked potato and fried okra. I started to get mashed potatoes but I asked if the potatoes were powdered. They were, so I got a baked potato instead. It was a good choice. The okra was fried to perfection and the serving was so large I had to leave half. I liked that I was able to order a small portion of chicken fried steak. The cream gravy is why I order chicken fried steak and this cream gravy did not disappoint. My cousin got the special which included soup, salad, and a sandwich. My other cousin got a chef salad. We all enjoyed our lunch and looking at the decorations. We found our way to the restaurant, that is a bit off the interstate but easy enough to find. We each got a fried pie and our total was around $35 including the tip. Not bad at all in this day and age, especially for really good food, which is what we got. My burger was one of the best I've had in years and will replace one of my top 10 on my burger list.
