Well maybe it was the atmosphere of relaxed romance or maybe it was the good food but whatever it was I really enjoyed this restaurant when I visited recently with my partner. She had a slightly different opinion as she was not as keen on the starter as I was but it was only a matter of preference.
We were welcomed in to this large restaurant and sat in rather grand surroundings even though it was no more expensive than most restaurants in Bruges (on the pricey side all of them!). Service was relaxed and friendly and the front of house staff had no trouble switching between Dutch, French, English, Spanish and German, seemingly able to joke and make customers feel relaxed in any language.
The food was good I had tomato soup to start with and it was really tasty. I followed it up with mussels which were of a high standard I prefer them with wine and cream but these were 'natural' cooked with onion, celery and possibly a bit of fennel. They were beautifully cooked and so tasty I could go back now and have another portion!
Desert was a little chocolate mousse with a fresh strawberry really lovely but over too soon!
The wines we had were only house wines by the glass but were of very good quality and matched the food well.
It wasn't cheap but it wasn't any more expensive that most places in Bruges. I would recommend it, see what you think. read more
