Beautiful decor but we had to ask for bread, olives and water where many other tables were provided…read morethese items. Services though fast and friendly was inconsistent in this area. The food was very good especially the waffle for dessert which was one of the best we enjoyed.

Simply a perfect meal…read more Brasserie Raymond is like the best of Parisian Brasseries, yet more welcoming and comfortable. The service is impeccable; friendly, professional, speedy yet never rushed. The food is fantastic. When you sit down, you will be given some fresh bread in a little "Raymond" bag, rillette--a pork pâté--and some small olives to nibble on. We chose the Prix Fixe menus Raymond and Belge, but they have a full a la carte menu and most people seemed to do that. The starters of mushroom toast and shrimp croquettes started the parade of delicious dishes. The toast was crispy and buttery with perfect garlicky mushrooms on top. The croquettes were very crispy on the outside with a soft interior. Lovely. The toast came with a green salad. The main courses of Belgian Stew and Sole (Sliptongue) were perfectly cooked, with the fish sliding easily off the bones and the stew beef rich and tender. They came with frites (with homemade mayonnaise) and a salad, and dunking the fries in the stew was an added delight. Dessert--though we were getting quite full at this point--was a lovely crème brûlée, with perfect crispy sugar on top and soft rich custard below. Wow. We also had ice cream in a dark chocolate sauce with some small crisp bits on top (sweetened puffed rice?). It was also amazing. We wish we were in Bruges longer so we could go back. Next time we certainly will.

Did you say €3 spaghetti? Is it good?…read more Okay, they weren't serving spaghetti when I was there, I could not ask why. I heard from locals that it was good. Instead, this review is on the €3 appletaart, tea, the employees, customers, and the shop itself. Instead of sitting outside, I encourage you to sit inside and get comfortable. It is very cozy. The waitress who served me was very prompt, spoke good English, and apologized for not having the spaghetti that time. I had a late afternoon snack instead [of early dinner]. I had tea with milk and apple pie. My table was beside an old Dutch/Flemish/Belgian (trying to be politically correct here) couple's table who were smiling at me every time I looked their way, sharing a plate of afternoon snack of coffee and pancake (which I heard second best after the spaghetti). I smiled back in courtesy. In bare English, they asked me if my food was good, I replied 'very good'. It was! It was not very sweet and it went well with my tea. It had bits of apples. They too pointed at their pancake and said 'very good'. The sincerity almost convinced me to get an order of pancake but I stopped myself because the appletaart was more than enough. I was told that the owner (or the son who took over the place, maybe a bit hazy on the story of this place due to massive amount of Belgian beer the night before at the hostel), checks on customers. I had a middle age man come ask me if the food was good, and being the satisfied customer that I was, I said 'very good' again. He might have been the owner. He was chatting with some locals in some of the tables, laughing loudly (not rudely). No complaints on the service at all. The location of the restaurant was off the main road of the market. A lot quieter but may get packed during dinner. I wanted to go back for the spaghetti but wasn't able to. :(

Service is very poor, especially if you're a tourist. Although there were a few open tables when I…read morewent around sometime afternoon on a Saturday at noon, I was told that "they were full and were completely booked until Monday dinner." This was obvious rubbish considering the 4 open tables with no reservation sign to be found. I went back later for an early dinner, and lo and behold, there were several open tables (Yes, I got the spaghetti). If Braserrie Medard wants to establish itself as a legitimate establishment, then it should learn to treat its customers with respect, regardless of whether they're tourists or not. I understand most of their clientele are locals, but that's no excuse for treating your customers like dirt. Yes, it's true that the spaghetti is cheap, but is that really worth being treated as second-class? You decide.
