This is a fantastic gun shop, and although they also sell fishing supplies I was here for the Brass, not the Bass. Bill and daughter Riley are fantastic. They both have great knowledge and were a big help to this first-time gun buyer/owner. They let me handle a gun I was interested in, which is a cousin of the gun I ended up buying. Changing my order mid-process was painless. Bill as an ex-Marine has so much experience and a great rapport with his customers. I even got to see some of the unique challenge coins he has, something I'd never seen before in person. I learned a lot just by asking questions, and he recommended a great local outdoor range which I will very likely join. This alone will save me some money. I plan to order anything I can through their website to help our local store owner, especially ammo and some accessories and extra mags. Although things can get a little busy when it's just one person working the shop and more than one customer, it's Shangri La compared to the madness of COVID when I was looking to buy a lower for an AR-15. Imagine twenty people in line before store opening (Los Angeles) or standing room only in other shops. I learned never to go to gun shops in a rush. Plus, I always have questions and value the knowledge I get from shop owners and even other customers. Contrast this with Turner's in Temecula and wow, I had to wait at least 30 minutes just to find out I couldn't buy ammo until I'd been through the 10-day wait period and background check. One gets much more personalized service with Brass and Bass. Bill even field-stripped my new gun to show me how it's done. The service just doesn't get much better. Riley and Bill, you made my first gun purchase an informative and seamless experience, and I appreciate both of you! Thanks again! read more

Is this place still open came by on Thursday morning arrive at 10:30 and the place is completely close with no sign of why. I wasted my time and gas coming here thinking they would be open as it says on their website and yelp. I got my first fsc here and wanted to come back. read more

First time in, I understand these times in social history and shoplifters but I don't like being followed through a store with the watchful eyes when I'm just trying to see what kind of stuff they carry. Undecided if I'll try again. read more

This place is better than all the more well known spots in the area. Faster and much friendlier service. Better prices. Stop spending two hours waiting in line at turner's and the others just to be belittled. Just go here and be in and out with just straight up good customer service. read more

I had an old 22 rifle I've had since I was a kid that was jammed. I went through videos and everything else on how to troubleshoot with no luck. I brought it in, and Bill, who seems to have supernatural attention to detail found the smallest ding on it, and managed to fix it. This guy really knows his stuff when it comes to smithing. And his charge was very reasonable too. Definitely earned my business moving forward. Thank you! read more

Awesome place. I was out to buy a "Poverty Pony" AR15 build. I ordered my stripped receiver online through one of their online platforms. They called me a few days later knowing it was in store and ready to start DROS. What really shocked me is that the paperwork no joke took less than 5 minutes. I'm used to the corporate stores where you wait an hour for your number to be called then wait another hour for them to do paperwork and check it by multiple people. During the pickup they also took just a few minutes to complete. Would highly recommend this LGS and will certainly be back. read more

This is a 3.5 Rating with room to grow! SO, I NEEDED FISHING GEAR AND LIKE GUNS I dropped in last month. It was difficult finding the place with my GPS, but called the store and they gave me quick directions to their location. They are in a single story shop, with other similar shops, having their exteriors renovated, so you have to look for their signage. The parking is good with some spaces right outside the front door. MORE BRASS THAN BASS They are well suited for gun education and sales, but fishing is not really a strong point. They have basic fishing gear with more on the way. I found what I was looking for, because I just started fishing at Lake Skinner and needed bobbers, weights, and fake food. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS VERY TRANSACTIONAL If you are looking for a more cordial shopping experience, I would say check elsewhere. It's not that the customer servant wasn't helpful, but he seemed focused on getting product sold and moving on to something else. Or, maybe fishing wasn't his thing, but he did his best...I don't honestly know. VETERAN'S DISCOUNT Boo-yah! I believe the store is vet owned, so will definitely be back to purchase some Brass related items. read more

I brought my 2-shot Derringer pistol in to get it repaired because one of the barrels was not firing. After being charged for the repair, I was told the parts needed to be reordered because the wrong parts arrived. So I waited and waited. The parts came in after waiting 6 weeks. The repair was completed and I asked if they had test-fired the weapon. They HAD NOT test-fired the gun. After I test-fired the weapon on an approved range, the weapon still did not work. I was NEVER offered a refund. Just because the store is Marine-owned, doesn't make him an armorer. Good luck in the future. read more

I am a first time buyer and I highly recommend this place. The service exceeded my expectations! The staff really took their time with me to find the right firearm for my needs. I'm not very knowledgeable in this area but I felt they really helped answer my questions and concerns and explain everything to me in a way that didn't feel overwhelming. I'm very happy with my purchase and I will be a returning customer. I also appreciate their kindness when they stayed open a little later for me so I can pick up my gun before the holiday weekend. Above and beyond customer service! read more

Bought something I wasn't happy with, and I wanted a return due to it breaking on day 1, I took it in and didn't really speak to whoever took my purchased the day I bought it. The item was fixed by the owner. Only thing is that it doesn't work properly, and it feels so cheap. Eventually it broke again. Threw it away and money wasted. I would never go back; He Didn't want to except my return. I would have taken store credit at least, I kept eyeing a gun I've been wanting but I'm glad I didn't buy it now. He needs to practice being nice to customers. I didn't like that he was pushy when I wanted a refund or store credit. I should have been more pushy back. Everyone go to outlaw's armory in lake Elsinore. They are so nice honest and not pushy at all. read more

This place is awful. No greeting. Walked around and noticed all the prices were the same as any other big box store. Didn't offer anything unique. As I was leaving the owner pressed me if I had any questions. They don't have much ammo in stock and had about 5 rifles. Not much you can do for me. The shop was a complete mess. Boxes everywhere. Back counter was in disarray. He asked me about my rifle only to talk bad about it and who made it. Then began to lecture me about basics and things I already know when I didn't ask for his opinion nor want it. Here is a opinion, clean your store. It's embarrassing. I understand you have been shooting since you were a kid. That is great for you. You didn't need to tell me four times in the same conversation. Oblivious to social cues. When I walked in he was ranting about how dead people vote and how Biden stole the election. Oh you are a expert in how every county counts votes? Are you a delegate? Do you participate in the election process as a official? I'm sure the answers are NO. How stereotypical can you be? This place is a joke. Lots of better options. read more

Great people. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Shop was neat, clean and well lit. If you're in the area I definitely recommend supporting this veteran owned business. read more

When I first heard about this place I figured I had to check it out. I got the address and went there but couldn't find it because it's in a little corner of the shopping plaza. My biggest problem here is the location because damn its in a tight corner. Anyway the shop is very small but well organized with fishing gear on one side and guns and accessories on the other. I like how the prices are very reasonable and even questionable but the guns I saw are brand new. The employees are pretty helpful for a gun store compared to other places. I saw a very nice 1911 for under a $1,000 and I believe it was a Springfield or a Colt well anyway the prices here are very fair. read more

Found this place as it was recommended by another gun dealer. Bill was great and knowledgeable. Also so happy this place is local to me. Currently using their gunsmith to do some work on my new rifle. Prices are super fair and they also give discounts to military. By the way......someone named "Eric L" posted a negative review on this place. He could not have been wrong. I was a customer that happened to be at this place at the time he claimed his false statement happened. He wasn't in for long and he barely came inside the door. He didn't even wait for 2 minutes and then owner/salesman was still busy with me. Everything Eric L posted was a complete lie and 100% false. Eric L........if you are going to completely lie on your review, make sure there aren't any witnesses around and no camera surveillance around. You are truly pathetic and have no business being inside any gun store dealers. read more

This is a great guy walked in to check out the supplies and left well attended and informed given how so many gun laws are being passed and are very confusing he was kind enough to tell me how obnoxious some where and best believe I left appreciating this guy and how much the state imposed on them. read more

Chris is amazing and my husband and I both love his blunt personality. He knows his stuff, very knowledgeable and is willing to go the extra mile to get you what you need. I have read other reviews during this virus crap, and it's just not accurate. Through this entire thing, his focus has been keeping both his staff and customers safe. You do have to wait a while to be helped, it's a small storefront with only a few staff members. But when it's your time, your given 100% of their undivided attention. The prices are comparable to most places around here. I suggest we keep these small businesses in our town by supporting them! read more

I walked in trying to get an appraisal, but the employees didn't even acknowledge me. When I walked out one employee followed me to my car saying "what's your fucking problem" and continued to say harassing things to the point of "you want some" with his arms raised, trying to engage in a gunfight in the parking lot (The employee had a weapon holstered outside the waste in front of the store in the parking lot) I can't believe how I was treated and feel I was racially discriminated against. read more

I don't like leaving bad reviews because you never know if the person is having a bad day. This is my 1st negative review. Keep in mind I went in with the intention of buying 3 of almost any 556 rifles they had in stock (July 1 is coming fast). Today, I walked into Brass & Bass and walked to the counter. There was a woman there boxing a rifle. I waited a few minutes and she never made eye contact with me or acknowledged I was waiting. I asked if they had any 556 rifles left. Without talking or eye contact, she used her thumb and pointed over her shoulder. I waited for her to say something, but she never did. I asked if she have any more of the Desert Sands in stock (the one she was boxing). She said only black this is for another customer. I waited thinking she would let me know when more were coming in or show me the ones she had in stock....anything resembling customer service or normal social behavior. I just stood there for a minute in silence and left. Still no eye contact, she said nothing as I was leaving. Seemed like she didn't want me there or just did care about selling me anything. Very weird vibe in that place. Will not be going back. I'll continue to drive to 2nd Amendment in Indio. They know how to treat customers right. Or, Turner's in Temecula. If Brass & Bass do not agree with what I have written, I'm sure there are tons of security cameras. I'm the guy in the Dodgers hat that came in around 2:30. You have my permission to post my interaction here on Yelp only. read more

I went to a few local stores and they didn't have what I wanted. I called Brass and Bass and got a hold of Bill. Immediately he picked up the phone and said he was busy and call me back. Called back a hour later and said he'd do some research and let me know within 24 hours. Called back 2 hours later, said he could order it and for $50 cheaper than 2 local stores. I respect a man that's honest and follows up with what he says. He's earned my business for all futures purchases. read more

I have been here a dozen times and bought ammunition and magazines from these folks. For some reason many gun shop staff are your typical rude gun guys. These guys are no exception. A little decent customer service would go a long way. Like every shop in the valley these guys we're out of bullets and guns in 2020. They showed zero desire to accommodate customers. read more

Called in had a very polite gentlemen help and decided to go in. Once in the shop the red hair lady didn't catch her name but she was rude told me to wait that was fine. This place is horrible I came in a few months ago with my man because he wanted to buy a gun then they came at him as if he was dumb talking about switching up the laws on him so he wouldn't purchase one . I had work in retail before and I understand how customers are but this is no way for them to talk to my man like is dumb it was two white guys and all they talk about is fucking around with a tranny and then they print out a paper for my man then they goes and snatch back from him even though they said it was for free. They were really disrespectful and treat us bad. And they took an hour just to give us an receipt back. read more

5 stars. I entered Brass and Bass with just about no knowledge about firearms, or the requirements to buy one. Cameron was a ton of help in explaining the process of purchasing a firearm to me, and helped me get the ball rolling towards my first purchase. He also gave me a few suggestions on first firearms and let me hold & check out all the guns I wanted to see. I wasn't ready to make a choice that very day, and I wasn't pressured to do so at all. I ended up buying my first handgun here a few days later (one of the guns Cameron recommended, after I did some research). And received my gun after the 10 day waiting period. Great experience! read more

I would love to give a shout-out to the owner for helping me with my needs of shipping a few firearms to another FFL dealer. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He's a no BS kind of person and in the gun world we need more people like that. So thank you very very much for helping me out today! read more

Really nice place and great service. I haven't bought anything from here yet as there guns are a little overpriced which is to be expected compared to the bigger shops. I for one like to support smaller family owned shops over bigger ones. They tend to treat you more like a friend than a customer. They have a small selection of guns and accesories on display but they can order whatever you want. A lot to choose from when it comes to fishing supplies. read more

Went in for a simple swap on my Shotgun, replacing both my forend and stock. I was quoted $65 to get the job done and it would be done in a week. Long story short it took over two weeks and the price got jacked up to $90. The customer service is trash, I felt like I was bugging them the entire time I was in here. Won't be doing business here anytime soon. $30 gun cleaning fee that they don't mention to u was the icing on the cake. read more

Based on the online reviews seen here I chose Brass and Bass for my 1st California purchase. Just like others have stated, the crew working here is fantastic. What a breath of fresh air. I'm a first time gun owner and could not be more thankful for the assistance I received from Bill. every aspect of the process and actual firearm purchase was customer-oriented.
