My husband and I usually don't like them. He said if they tasted like that when he was younger, he would have at them. They had biscuits and gravy. The gravy was a good flavor, not floury, or sticky. It was just missing the sausage. There was sausage and bacon available on the buffet. The buffet had sliced prime beef, Canadian bacon, a very tasty fajita meat (no tortillas for it), French toast, pancakes, green beans, salad, fettuccine Alfredo, cheesy scrambled eggs, and other selections. The buffet was also a limited number of items. They were a few minutes late starting it after they opened and everything on it was basically cold. I'll give them barely warm, but that's a far as I will go. I thought maybe the idea was to let the warmers under the pans warm the food to a more edible temp but no that didn't work either. We were there over half an hour and I got another plate just to try a small sampling and nope, the food was no warmer than it first was. One other note anything to drink is NOT included in the buffet price. Expect to pay $2.99 for an iced tea or whatever. I guess in a way it didn't matter because the food served really wouldn't have been any better if it was warmerNot in my opinion. Slices of French Toast and mostly cut into 1/4 strips, cold and dried out. Warmed syrup (a plus) no butter to be found, you have to ask for it. Some sort of funky tasting seasoned potatoes. Neither my wife or I cared for the flavor. The biscuits weren't too bad. Some sort of milk gravy with cut up sausage links thrown into it. I say that because it doesn't appear that the gravy is made "from" the sausage as the gravy itself has no flavor, just bland. The sausage patties had an odd flavor. The sausage links were not bad. There was some bacon but we didn't try it. That's about all the buffet is, saw some cut up fruit off to the side. We decided to give it one more try for lunch. Thought it was somewhat unusual for a Saturday that we were the only two people there at 11:30 - 12:30. It still took half an hour to get our food! And ours were not difficult selections. The roast beef for the dip sandwich was well seasoned, I'll give them that. The curly fries though, those were a fail. Mostly over-fried, too hard. I will give them some credit for opening another choice for food selection here because Keller's Express is the only thing they've had for several years now for breakfast or lunch during the day. Unfortunately, this isn't much to solve that problem. It's nothing even close to 22 & Vine at Riverside Casino. Not to me it isn't. I wish the would bring back the full buffet for during the day that they once had. Or just open Keller's full restaurant for during the day.

I stumbled across this very well hidden place and walked in not even knowing if they served food or if it was just an ice cream place. And man, and I glad I did. Their menu was very ambitious and outstanding with many creative twists on Mexican fare. I ordered the Barbacoa Tacos and was expecting the run of the mill quality tacos. Again, I was wrong. Way way exceeded my expectations. The tacos were prepared barbacoa style and fried in beef consomme I believe, plenty of melted cheese and well seasoned meat inside, topped with a sauce and pickled onion, with neatly prepared sides of their house made hot sauce, chopped fresh cilantro, and diced onion. The plate was artfully decorated with drops of avocado puree, with a fresh lime wedge on the side. And on top of that there was a bowl of hot beef consomme for dipping/sipping. The plate looked beautiful, and the food lived up to the presentation. Delicious, and the best tacos I've had in this area, and I've had them at a lot of places. Decor is simple, not fancy at all, and a bit odd as the restaurant shares a slice of the small storefront maybe 8 ft wide, while the La Michoacana Ice Cream business takes up the rest of the location. They even have different colored booths divided down the middle of the room. A bit strange. And the location doesn't do justice to the amazing food. They also serve breakfasts which sound fantastic. I believe they also deliver through one of the delivery services. The place is also a coffee shop and features some very nice looking pastries as well. Check out their Facebook page for latest updates to hours, menu, etc. I am definitely going back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some unique and beautifully prepared Mexican food. The owner is a culinary school graduate and it certainly shows. So surprising to find this level of quality so hidden away in such a small place shared with another business. This food is Mexican food for folks who have never eaten real Mexican food. The meat choices for the hard shell tacos are ground beef or chicken. The enchiladas, same. This is not Al pastor, lingua, carne asada, etc., etc., type of real Mexican food, never served in hard pre-made shells. I struggled down the ground beef enchiladas and left the taco. If you enjoy, say, Rudy's in the Quad Cities, you will probably enjoy the food very much. If you expect to find something more authentic to order for lunch your not going to be happy. This "food" was over $13 with tax. Way more expensive than actual authentic, filling, delicious, Mexican food in the Q.C.. I hate to give less than positive reviews, but honesty is important as well.
