As we were preparing to leave for a trip to Italy this past Saturday, we received a call from the kennel caring for our dogs informing us that one of our dogs, Alfie, had escaped. What was most surprising was that the purpose of the call seemed to be asking whether Alfie had ever done something like this before. He hadn't. More importantly, one would reasonably expect a kennel to have secure fencing and proper access controls in place to prevent this type of situation from happening in the first place. Anyone who knows Alfie knows he's an incredibly sweet and adorable dog -- but he's certainly not some canine mastermind. He's no Steve McQueen in The Great Escape. The fact that he was able to get out raises serious concerns about the facility's security and procedures. It is now Monday evening, more than 48 hours later, and we still have not received a single call from the owner or management. I don't believe a single incident automatically means a business should be condemned. Mistakes can happen anywhere. But when a business fails to take ownership of a serious event after it occurs, that says a great deal about how they value accountability and customer trust. I sincerely hope no other family has to experience something similar.

When I reached out to Jack he suggested we meet up prior to my needing his services to meet my pup so they could get to know one another before the trip. When I left him with Jack during my vacation, I received a pic of my baby as well as daily updates on his well-being. He told me how he was eating, his many walks and his temperament while being in a different home that he was not used to. This was really a relief to me as I didn't have to worry that my pup was being taken care of in a knowledgeable, calm atmosphere. I will definitely use Jack again for any future pet sitting vacations that I will need. He is the best! G

In addition to his size and strength, Zippy is extremely reactive, thus very difficult to control, when he encounters other dogs during walks. I advertised for dog walkers on Nextdoor and received a few responses from kids and other dog lovers. When Jack Feldmann the owner of Your Pet's Best Friend reached out to me, it was immediately apparent that he is a professional -- the real deal. He and his associate, Kevin Wilson, were totally unfazed by Zippy's size and potential for problems. Both developed great relationships with our monster dog and managed him beautifully. Fortunately, I'm again able to walk Zippy, but I will certainly call Your Pet's Best Friend anytime our circumstances require support with Zippy. If you live in the Wilmington area, I highly recommend their services. Jack's number is (302) 379-5501.
