I was in the Paediatrics Unit in Brampton Civic Hospital. I spent nearly a week there because I had abdominal pain, blood in stool, and I needed an endoscopy from a gastroenterologist, followed by treatment. Compared to all the other units in the hospital, the paediatrics unit was actually very caring and treated me well. They checked up on me every 15 minutes, took vitals, and did what they needed to do to ensure that I am well and safe. They provided me meals (breakfast, lunch, and supper), with a good quantity of food, and an OK taste. Moreover, all nurses were very thoughtful, kind, and took on immediate action to find the problem. I was even provided my own room, which included a private bathroom, and they even gave me a Nintendo to entertain myself. The reason why I gave my experience a 3-star was the poor cleanliness and some miscommunication with the nurses. First, with the cleanliness issue, the janitors did not do their job properly. For 2 days straight, they did not sweep, mop, or clean my room. We had to confront them for them to actually clean our room. Then, another 2 days went by, and our room still wasn't clean. Moreover, with the miscommunication part, I found that we had to constantly page the nurses and remind them to give my treatment/medication. That being said, once they did give my medication as early as 6am, they didn't even tell us when they gave it. I felt as communication could have been worked on, as well as the cleanliness of our room. Overall, the experience in the Peds unit as Brampton Civic was well. I've heard negative things at other units, but the nurses in this unit treated me with care, love, and kindness. read more

Given how far Brampton Civic is from meeting basic expectations, it is not unfair to compare them to a butcher shop. Our experiences with children who needed emergency care were below even whatever minimal standard qualifies as horrible. Unless it is literally a life-or-death moment now we leave Brampton and go to a real hospital. Sick Kids was once a go-to for children but it hs become so overcrowded that wait times are stupidly long. Amazingly, even though they are under same management, the Urgent Care facility is superior to the main hospital. That said, Brampton's butcher shop is not even in a runner-up queue when compared to other hospitals in GTA. , Today's very sad reality is, If your child needs urgent care, it is not a choice: you MUST leave Brampton and go to a real hospital. read more

I got here at 6:30am on Monday morning with my daughter and got to see doctor at 10:30am and then was sent for X-ray where an inexperienced guy just asked me and my daughter to go and sit in waiting area without asking our reason or last name. We waited for 2 hours in waiting area then my phone started ringing and I found out that hospital is looking for us as they thought we are gone home. Went to this hospital as my wife was extremel dehydrated and sick from a stomach flu. As I was explaining to the front desk that we have already gone to a walk-in clinic and the doctor is already recommended IV drip. The staff started to yell, so I took out my camera to record the abuse under as per my rights, She called security on me who forced me to delete the evidence or they would not offer me health care. After deleting the evidence the staff still did not stop yelling, she kept saying the most abusive things that came into her tiny mind. She tried her best to create a public scene and then to provoke me into an altercation. Shame on these health care 'expert' that come to Canada only to abuse minorities as they do in their third world nations. The hospital then ordered blood and urine tests on a dehydrated person, why? what did your tests prove? Why were they conducted without our consent, with the threat of denying care to an extremely sick person. when questioned they said, 'your wife wasnt dying' so its fine for her to wait 8+ hours while almost fainting twice, shameless low level of bare minimum care, with a heavy abuse. read more

I was there with the flu early Dec 2023 and stayed about 9 days. everything was awesome and nurses and doctors very likeable. they did not rush me out and were considerate enough to take my time while I got better. i did take an ambulance there so I was admitted in an hour. my mom before her death was there numerous times with her health and she was taken care of beautifully! when your polite to them, they will be to you. This is a hospital that's quite close to my house and it definitely has a reputation. I went in with an open mind but after seeing how the staff run this place, I now know why it's rated so low. The doctors think their patients are fools and can force them into making decisions about their health without any consequences. I chose to deliver my baby far away at st joes after realizing how the reputation for this place is. Including one of my labor and delivery nurses who used to work here formerly asked me if I was delivering further away because of Brampton Civic's reputation. How poorly can a hospital be ran? From its long emergency waits to discharging my mom with a broken ankle by mistake and calling us back after 2 hours at 3;40 am and after I had carry her up the stairs at home and telling us oops sorry we made a mistake come back for a cast and the. Sending us home at 5:30 only to come back at 9am wait for another 3 hours to see the specialists. On a second visit they make my mom wait 45 minutes for an X-ray until I realized that there are no other patients waiting and the tech keeps walking past us and not calling us in that I had to complain for them to call us in and X-ray. read more

I have a vaccine appointment today at 3.50 P.M, in Brampton Civic Hospital I am 56 years old, with high risk medical condition, when i arrived the reception they asked me If I have letter from my physician about my health, i told them no i do not, but i have full documentation of my health history, they looked at my file like they are looking into garbage, and refused all the documents, i called my physician to ask about this letter, she told me that they di not receive any instructions to issue this type of letters, i told her what to do in this case, and what if i get the virus and passed away, she told me wear the mask. when you look at the websites and the vaccination process you feel that you are between the hand of professionals, in practice they deal with patient like we are NOTHING. In February of 2019 my sister, who has two young children, had told someone that she was gonna kill herself while on the phone. That person called the cops and they brought her to Brampton Civic. I arrived four hours later where the nurse (rudely) told me that she had been discharged. I've never been so angry. Like how do you discharge someone who's said they were gonna take their life after 4 hours??? When they have small children no less. The next month, my dad and I took her there to see a psychiatrist. After 12 hours of being told "the psychiatrist will be down shortly" we were told that the psychiatrist had left for the day, even though we were on his/her patient list for the day. I am in Brampton for more than 13 years and used emergency services first time because my daughter injured her knee at her Karate school. I asked for help at entrance to transfer my daughter to wheel chair and answer was manage yourself. I have to call ambulance to transfer her to the emergency. With broken leg she has to wait 3 hours for her turn. I asked for pain medication and ice pack but they refused to provide that until she was assessed. After she assessed by doctor, staff took 1 1/2 hr to provide crutches and immobilizer. She received pain medication when we were leaving hospital after many reminders. The only person found helpful was security guard and doctor. All nurses and administration staff was rude and lazy. Worst experience of Canadian medical system. It need to be revised. poorly staffed. during an overnight stay, one of the nurses was heard yelling at other nurses because she was overwhelmed. Also, after getting a wound infection, doctor gave me a referral to see their Infectious disease dept. They told me (after I had to follow up with them when no one called after 10 days) that they were booking 8 weeks ahead. But after doctor reviewed my file, they are giving me next available which is three weeks away! That is because they are in the hospital only 1 time a week! In the meantime, my wound is not getting better and is continuing to "die off". I think this hospital (and William Osler network of hospitals) are more concerned with saving costs versus running a quality hospital. Go elsewhere. read more

My father in law came here in 2015 with excruciating back pain that he had been experiencing for weeks. He described his symptoms, was briefly examined, and then dismissed by a nurse. As he left, he said to the examining doctor who was in the hallway, "am I done?" And she replied, "you have back pain. This was NOT an emergency." Guess what? It was metastatic kidney cancer. His spine was fractured due to cancer eating into it. He lived in agony for weeks longer before he finally begged his doctor for more testing. He was too ashamed of "whining" about "NOT an emergency" to seek the help he needed again sooner. He died 4 months later. I begged him, in his last month on earth, to let me investigate and find out the name of this doctor. He said no, it was too late anyway and he didn't want to be negative as he died. Pathetic service and staff( not all but most). Came here because i was experiencing some contractions in my 34th week.It takes these guys 18 hours just to get the ultrasound done. extremely rude lady in the night shift told us to go back if we thought we were stuck. She had no clue about what to be done and told us that they would call the family doctor in the morning and see if the can come check on me. Surprised to find out that there were no doctors available on duty. kept us in the room all night and were lucky to get ultra sound appointment the following day after noon. 2.5 hours after the ultrasound we go to the reception just to find out how long before the report comes in and the lady at the reception gives 0 f***'s cuz shes too busy talking to someone over the phone about some traffic ticket that someone she knows got. Why is there no option for zero stars? Two years ago my life was changed forever. I went for a hip replacement and three hours later my femoral nerve was damaged forever. I could not walk without a walker or a cane for the next 14 months. I went into a huge state of depression because I couldn't do anything. I retired early because I could not do my job any longer. Two years later a section of my leg more than a foot long is still completely numb. I have been told by a neurologist that I will never recover. I used to be able to ski and play tennis. Now I still have trouble just getting in and out of bed. I am the sorriest person on earth that I went to the Brampton Civic Hospital and I am the sorriest person on earth that my surgeon was Dr. Seki-Otu. Back in May 2019 I went into Hospital for emergency surgery. I have been fighting with myself about this review. But it is time - I was given the wrong medication by a nurse and crash cart was used 3 times and narcan administered 3 times. I have been fighting with my nightmares for quite awhile now and wonder how the hell are they getting away with this. The only good thing about this surgery was my surgeon. I was afraid of him in the beginning only because I was nervous of the surgery. However he is top notch - as for the one nurse I had she has made my life a living hell. Please if you are an employee at the hospital and deal with patients on a daily basis check and recheck what you are giving your patient. My kids and I are glad you were able to revive me but this error could have been fatal. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. Went to visit a friend on her birthday. When entering the hospital there was no one at the info booth. This is the 5th time I've gone and no one there. Just a phone with instructions on how to reach patient location services. Went up to the room past the nurses station. Not one friendly face. The station was full. All eyes on us as we walked by but not so much as a hello or a smile. We arrived at the room to find the patients mom cleaning the floor by the bed. It looked like someone had had a bowel movement on the floor. The nurses in the room were tending to the other patient sharing it. There was feces on the floor by my friends bed and all over the base of what I think was a blood pressure machine. We visited for over an hour. One nurse stood as the door staring at us and hollering for Karene. Who ever that is! Another nurse popped her head in to ask if my friend was going to be sat in a chair. She said not right now thanks. Hospitals are never fun places to visit but this place is hell. Dirty. Rude staff. I'm so glad I no longer live in Brampton. I would rather be treated at a walk in clinic than go to this hell hole. read more

The staff was busy discussing their weekend plans and forgot to send my blood sample to the Lab until doctor asked for the results after three hours. They misplaced my blood sample and were ready to poke me again. The nurses were very rude and doesn't care about your suffering. Doctors are not that good in diagnosing the problem so have to go back to my family doctor to refer me to another hospital in Toronto where things are going fine. read more

Avoid the ER! Rude ass nurses. Don't even bother to ask nurse Yvonne questions about your medical condition or else she will seem annoyed and pull the "I'm the nurse, you're not" card on you! For instance, I only asked, "Nurse, do you, by any chance, know why my brother's respiratory rate is a 9?" She replied with, "Don't ask me questions like that because your brother just got here." Instead of, "I don't know but I will try to find out for you by further assessing your brother's current condition." Also, she repositioned my brother's bed and hit the chair where I was sitting on without informing me or my brother, at least, that she had an intention to reposition the bed. And take note, she would make you seem like you're the rude one in front of other medical staff to make her feel good about herself and you feeling like crap, which you're not. What's worse, other nurses would take her side and would just laugh at you as you try to explain the situation of how Yvonne treated you and your family members. My mom also complained to me that she was only asking Yvonne for an ice pack because my brother was complaining of pain in his arm due to the potassium IV fluid flowing through his veins, and Yvonne gave my mom an attitude by stating, "You sit down and wait. I'm still charting." Shame on Brampton Civic for hiring low-class, low quality, unprofessional nurses to work in the ER. I'm sure that I'm not the only one that experienced this horrible kind of client service here. Towards the end of Yvonne's shift, my mom told me that Yvonne apologized to my mom but then she added, "Your daughter needs to respect me because I'm The Nurse." What nerve! She was the one that disrespected me. In addition, my brother has been admitted to Brampton Civic's ER three times already and the doctors still cannot figure out what's wrong. Do they even deserve 1 star? I'll still give them 1 because I am generous that way. read more

If I could give this hospital negative, or no stars - I would. The amount of negligence that goes on behind those walls is absolutely absurd. I'm not going to go into detail about my personal experience, all you need to know is that I lost a love one STRICTLY based on malpractice and negligence of the doctors and nurses at this facility. My Wife delivered a beautiful healthy baby here. The on call Ob,doctor and nurses were very knowledgeable, patient and caring. We had to stay at the hospital for 48 hrs after delivery during which the nurses in the postpartum block were very caring and helpful. Even the hospital food served to my wife was great (veg). They even have a photo studio in the post partum section which is so convenient and a great touch to the already great service. read more

Hi everyone, my experience there was a horrible one... it still brings tears to my eyes when I remember that day at Brampton civic hospital. I was due to give birth at credit valley hospital but when the ambulance was called they took me there instead. As they announced that they were taking me to Brampton civic hospital, i yelled out noooooo! Please don't, please don't because my very first and last experience there was horrible and I swore never to go back there, nevertheless we were already there and i was in labour. They took me to a room upstairs and all it's staff just stood around me. And watch me as I yelled out in pain. My baby was coming and fast.... but they all kept standing around while having casually conversation, my mom then called out to them stating that the baby was coming and that i am about to push... they told us that they can't operate on me because they don't have my file/records... so my mom words to them were "so your just going to leave her to give birth to herself?" They didn't say anything else but all just left the room. After some time a white(male) and Indian (female) doctor entered into the room with a few staff behind them... the female doctor came and stuck her hand inside of me and was squeezing and pressing on my baby's head as i was yelling out in pain... she then side that my baby pooped inside of me then turned and walked way. The pain at this point was unbearable for me, and I ended up passing out. All i felt was some cold hands rubbing me and asking if I was okay... it was a lovely back nurse. She told me not to worry, that i was going to be find and that she would take care of me... at this time another big contraction hit me and i lost it! And asked them if they were just going to stand there all day... as another contraction hit, i yelled out to my mom that if I died there on that bed for her to sue them, my mother began to cry and plead with them.... the male doctor then said we're still waiting on her file to be fax over from credit valley. After that i began to push on my own... my mom then noticed that I was pushing and then notified them of it, as she said that the baby is coming and I'm beginning to push... my mother the propped my left leg up and the lovely nurse then resurface and propped the other one up. Both doctors finally walked over to the bed the female doctor placed her hand inside of me once again and started squeezing... while she was doing so, another contraction hit and i screamed at her what the heck** are you doing... what's wrong with you people give me something for the pain please help...!!!! This went on for a while at this point the male doctor walked over and started asking me a bunch of questions like whose your prenatal care provider? And which hospital were you scheduled to give birth at? Etc.... i then told him... and he kept repeating himself. I then told him again but not in a nice way... because at this point not only was i furious, but also frustrated... he then left and after a while he came back and said that I have no blood work on file... that was news to me and i was very confused... any how, he said that they will have to take blood work from me before they could touch me... i was so shock because I've never experienced anything like this before... i went to all of my doctors appointments did my blood works and everything... so i was confused as to why i was having to go through this... "that doesn't make sense" i remember saying but if you want to take my blood that's fine just help me deliver my baby! They then took my blood while another contraction hit and once again I asked for the epidural for the pain... the Male who give the epidural slowly walked up to me and said that I'm already 10 dialated and that they can't give it to me any longer... as the contractions kept coming i turned to my mom and told her to get ready to help me deliver the baby because she's coming.... as the male doctor then noticed my mom along with the lovly Black nurse helped me to get back into position too give birth because i was damn near about to fall off the bed for the pain i was experiencing at the time... about 10 minutes later I give birth to my daughter... now this is when the real horror started! They called the social worker and took my baby to another room... i was soooo surprised! The (white) female social worker then asked me a bunch of questions... the story then continued from there... but let's just say that the big misunderstanding was them just discriminating against me... and those ridiculous things that refer to them self as people disappear and didn't have the decency to simply apologize in the end of it all... a few days later after I left the hospital and call to file a complaint i never got a call back and they just ignored me. And i kid you not my four days there were hell!!! They poked at my baby every single day that my healthy beautiful baby girl started to look pale and at one point black and blue. sickly like. read more
