There are a lot of parking lots but most of them require you to pay hourly or you can purchase the daily/weekly pass. There is a Tim Hortons inside - very convenient. The doctors and nurses there were great and very tentative. They provided a lot of support and encouragement.

Overall, I have had positive experiences at Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) over the years. I…read morehave had medical appointments here. I have also had surgery, as has my mom. My dad has escaped a stay (knock on wood!) at this hospital. I did a couple of nutritional sessions with a dietician at this hospital over a decade ago. I got a referral by my doctor and it was two sessions that proved helpful. I enjoyed the field trip that we did to the Loblaws nearby and learning how to effectively read nutrition labels on products, along with in-classroom instruction. These sessions were helpful guiding me in losing sixty pounds and keeping most of it off to this day. I have also seen a rheumatologist and an ophthalmologist at MSH. The former was to rule out a finding from my bloodwork. The latter was similar, to rule out a detail found in an x-ray. I had surgery at this hospital over a decade ago here. The process to check in, change, get anesthesia administered, have surgery, go through physiotherapy, and gradually return to my normal self was thoughtfully planned. My surgeon was awesome, who scheduled a couple of post-surgery appointments to make sure that I was on the mend and got my staples removed. I was a patient for four days. The meals were okay. I obviously survived. I looked forward to them because I'm just that type of person. I chose the diabetic plan because I wanted less sugar. I also knew the food drop-off schedule like clockwork... haha! Staff were competent, from the nurses and doctors, to the radiologists and various interns. No complaints. My mom also had surgery here. Her stay was a bit longer, but she was made to feel comfortable. She also had a physiotherapy component. The wait times can be extremely long. Even with an appointment, I remember my appointment being at least two hours in length, with most of it being a wait. It's paid parking. You basically pay at a kiosk. If you are lucky to have someone drop you off and pick you up, you'll save a bit. For my last appointment post-surgery, my dad dropped me off and picked me up. It was great, but trying to let him know when my appointment was nearly done was tough to predict. As with most hospitals in Canada, if it's for an emergency, expect a wait. Triage at MSH is much better than at other hospitals in the GTA, such as Toronto Western and Birchmount (formerly Scarborough Grace). Many factors are at play, from how many doctors are on staff to see patients, to the severity of the health issue. I booked COVID-19 shots for my parents in a building next to the hospital during the height of the pandemic. My parents were pleased with how things went. My dad didn't complain, so things went smoothly and they got their shots together. It's a decent hospital. I am thankful for the care that my mom and I have had. (45)

I needed a form signed for work as it's urgent (I was in an accident) and the walk in clinic doctor turned me away after I waited 1 hour to see her. The receptionist swiped my OHIP, and made me fill out a "registration form" where I did state my REASON FOR VISIT. The doctor's office closed at 4pm, I waited an hour to get turned away because it was closing time. Very disappointed in this clinic.

Unfortunately, my sister and I had a very negative experience at this walk in clinic. The reception…read morestaff was unprofessional and did not communicate properly (an older lady in the pink shirt of Indian descent). After my sister had checked in, we were told it would be a 30-45 minute wait. A family entered a few minutes after her (also of Indian descent) speaking in a different language with the receptionist. While she was waiting her turn the receptionist let the family in ahead of me. She thought maybe it was just one person, but all 4 people went in one after the next. She kept being told that she was the next patient. She did not feel like she was being treated seriously, or with care. This receptionist needs to be trained to uphold professionalism, and communicate with patients respectfully and effectively. I felt there was clear favouritism between patients. What was meant to be a 10 minute visit for a prescription, ended up being 1.5 hour wait until my sister could be seen by a physician. Very poor patient care. Dr George was so kind and considerate about this situation - he really saved this experience for her and I.

My previous experiences with this hospital were not very good at all, quite the opposite and in the negative. This experience was much better, was able to hop around and find a wheelchair no problem. The staff were super friendly and worked with a sense of urgency, when it all was said and done, the visit took about 3 hours, the only thing that I have negative to say was that the doctor at the time read my xray wrong and I got a phone call the next day telling me very bad news. The hospital was very clean and bright. Lots of parking on site Transit options are the 123 and 80 buses, and the 15 with a bit of a walk from the mall.

The staff and services here are excellent. This is not a hospital as such as there are no inpatient…read moreservices and no emergency department. An urgent care centre (UCC) provides care for non emergency injuries and personal health issues. Sprains, cuts, rashes, broken fingers etc for example, as well as blocked catheters, urinary retention and post surgical complications if needed. Emergency care is provided at another site, as is inpatient care. This site provides investigative and pre operative work up, as well as rehabilitation on an outpatient basis. An army of knowledgeable volunteers and clerical staff ensure you are seen in good time. The UCC practices triage, so less urgent cases may wait a long time for treatment. These cases could probably get seen at a walk in clinic or at their own doctors. Properly utilized this can be a one stop shop. Before I retired as an RN I referred patients here appropriately and they received good care. My wife had her follow up care here after her knee replacement, and I have cardiac investigations done here. The one down side? The cost of parking, although options are available to reduce the cost for frequent attenders.
