I was in the Paediatrics Unit in Brampton Civic Hospital. I spent nearly a week there because I had…read moreabdominal pain, blood in stool, and I needed an endoscopy from a gastroenterologist, followed by treatment. Compared to all the other units in the hospital, the paediatrics unit was actually very caring and treated me well. They checked up on me every 15 minutes, took vitals, and did what they needed to do to ensure that I am well and safe. They provided me meals (breakfast, lunch, and supper), with a good quantity of food, and an OK taste. Moreover, all nurses were very thoughtful, kind, and took on immediate action to find the problem. I was even provided my own room, which included a private bathroom, and they even gave me a Nintendo to entertain myself. The reason why I gave my experience a 3-star was the poor cleanliness and some miscommunication with the nurses. First, with the cleanliness issue, the janitors did not do their job properly. For 2 days straight, they did not sweep, mop, or clean my room. We had to confront them for them to actually clean our room. Then, another 2 days went by, and our room still wasn't clean. Moreover, with the miscommunication part, I found that we had to constantly page the nurses and remind them to give my treatment/medication. That being said, once they did give my medication as early as 6am, they didn't even tell us when they gave it. I felt as communication could have been worked on, as well as the cleanliness of our room. Overall, the experience in the Peds unit as Brampton Civic was well. I've heard negative things at other units, but the nurses in this unit treated me with care, love, and kindness.

Our experiences with children who needed emergency care were below even whatever minimal standard qualifies as horrible. Unless it is literally a life-or-death moment now we leave Brampton and go to a real hospital. Sick Kids was once a go-to for children but it hs become so overcrowded that wait times are stupidly long. Amazingly, even though they are under same management, the Urgent Care facility is superior to the main hospital. That said, Brampton's butcher shop is not even in a runner-up queue when compared to other hospitals in GTA. , Today's very sad reality is, If your child needs urgent care, it is not a choice: you MUST leave Brampton and go to a real hospital.

Our family's experience with Credit Valley Hospital's Adult Mental Health services highlighted…read moresignificant gaps in outpatient care coordination and follow-up. Following discharge, outpatient care appeared to focus primarily on medication monitoring, while broader recovery-oriented supports such as education, functional guidance, and connection to community resources were limited. As a result, much of the responsibility for navigating disability applications, coordinating supports, and ensuring continuity of care fell to our family, despite the patient's psychiatric condition affecting their ability to manage these responsibilities independently. Communication with affiliated services, including the nearby clinic responsible for administering injectable medication, was also challenging. Phone calls were often not answered, messages were not returned consistently, and rescheduling appointments was difficult. Most concerning, when an injection appointment was missed, there was no proactive follow-up from the care team, despite medication adherence being described as a central goal of treatment. I also contacted Patient Relations to raise concerns about these gaps in coordination and follow-up. While my concerns were acknowledged, there was no meaningful follow-through, guidance, or resolution. This created a situation where families were expected to play a central role in coordinating care but had limited access to support or accountability processes when concerns arose. I do want to acknowledge that individual staff were professional and respectful in their interactions. However, our overall experience highlighted opportunities for improvement in continuity of care, communication, and recovery-oriented outpatient support. My hope is that Credit Valley Hospital continues strengthening outpatient mental health coordination and follow-up so that patients and families receive more comprehensive and reliable support after discharge.

I came in with a severe throat infection that made it impossible to talk and difficult to breathe. I even wrote everything down ahead of time to make communication easier for the staff. Before I left, I made sure to get the nurse's name because of the lack of compassion she had shown. Sharron Thomas refused to read what I wrote, rolled her eyes, mocked my words back at me, and gossiped with other staff about how "inconvenient" I was for not being able to speak. That attitude carried over to the next nurse who handled me roughly. I've never had an issue with blood work before, but this time my arm went numb, ached badly, and is still bruised. While I was sobbing and visibly struggling to breathe, she treated it like a joke -- repeatedly asking, "does it hurt?" while ignoring the most obvious signals that I was distressed and not breathing properly (me holding my hand to my throat, trying to make noise, pointing to my notepad and pen, wheezing, folding over, crying harder). Instead of stopping, she continued on as if nothing was wrong. I did try emailing Patient Relations first to find some kind of resolution. They called me, acknowledged that I couldn't speak, and yet still asked me for a voiced response... I ended up leaving the hospital in worse condition than I arrived, all because I was too scared to stay. This was one of the most dehumanizing and frightening experiences I've ever had in a hospital. If you need urgent care, I STRONGLY suggest going somewhere else-- no one deserves to be treated like that in such a vulnerable state.

Took me over a year to get an appointment at this clinic. I've been a patient here for 6 months and had only met with the dietitian up until now, as Dr. Hameed wasn't available until June 2025. I love the clinic staff--super kind and helpful--but I can't say the same about Dr. Hameed. She was late for our appointment, and although she spent about 15 minutes getting to know me, it felt more like a formality than genuine interest. She offered vague and confusing explanations for some of my symptoms, even when I clearly knew they were related to my diabetes. It felt like she was dismissing my concerns with diabetes. She issued me a very limited prescription during our appointment and explained that prescriptions are only handled during appointments, not in between. But the amount she prescribed won't last me the full 7 months until my next appointment--and apparently, I can't contact her in between. That leaves me stuck. I also brought a few documents to the appointment for her to sign. She signed my ADP form (which allows me to receive funding for a diabetes device), but refused to sign government paperwork that confirms my diabetes as a permanent disability. She said she didn't "feel comfortable" signing because we had just met, even though she had my full medical records in front of her--including documentation from when I was diagnosed as a child. I didn't feel comfortable after she stated this, you're my doctor, why wouldn't you sign? The documentation does not require you to know me for X amount of time, it only requires you to confirm my condition/disability. That didn't make sense to me. If she had enough confidence in my records to sign one government form, why not the other? It felt dismissive and arbitrary. I had high hopes for this clinic, but after waiting over a year only to have such a discouraging and dismissive experience with another endocrinologist, I'll now be asking to switch doctors--and if that's not possible, I won't be returning. Neither will my family, who are also patients here. Very disappointing.

My previous experiences with this hospital were not very good at all, quite the opposite and in the negative. This experience was much better, was able to hop around and find a wheelchair no problem. The staff were super friendly and worked with a sense of urgency, when it all was said and done, the visit took about 3 hours, the only thing that I have negative to say was that the doctor at the time read my xray wrong and I got a phone call the next day telling me very bad news. The hospital was very clean and bright. Lots of parking on site Transit options are the 123 and 80 buses, and the 15 with a bit of a walk from the mall.

An urgent care centre (UCC) provides care for non emergency injuries and personal health issues. Sprains, cuts, rashes, broken fingers etc for example, as well as blocked catheters, urinary retention and post surgical complications if needed. Emergency care is provided at another site, as is inpatient care. This site provides investigative and pre operative work up, as well as rehabilitation on an outpatient basis. An army of knowledgeable volunteers and clerical staff ensure you are seen in good time. The UCC practices triage, so less urgent cases may wait a long time for treatment. These cases could probably get seen at a walk in clinic or at their own doctors. Properly utilized this can be a one stop shop. Before I retired as an RN I referred patients here appropriately and they received good care. My wife had her follow up care here after her knee replacement, and I have cardiac investigations done here. The one down side? The cost of parking, although options are available to reduce the cost for frequent attenders.
