I initially came to Ted Wiens on Decatur to have a hole in my rear right tire patched after it was punctured by a nail. The two individuals at the reception desk, Ryan and Anthony, were very kind and courteous. They told me that patching the tire would cost around $17 and that it could be done within the next hour to hour and a half. I thanked them and said that I would wait. After about an hour, Anthony came to me and told me that while one of the technicians was removing my tire, the sidewall had been ripped, essentially making the tire unusable. He then stated that all four tires needed to be replaced because there was cracking in the sidewalls, which he said was the reason the tire ripped during removal. This concerned me because if the tires were already in a condition where there was a significant concern about the sidewalls cracking or tearing during removal, I would have expected to be informed about that before the work began. I was left with the impression that the tire may have been damaged during the removal process. I completely understand that accidents can happen, but I believe transparency and honesty are especially important in situations like this. I was then told that all four tires would need to be replaced. What was initially supposed to be a relatively simple $17 tire patch ultimately turned into a nearly $1,500 cost to replace all four tires, which was extremely frustrating given how the situation began. The staff told me they could have the tires installed by the end of the day and would provide me with a complimentary alignment the following day. I agreed to proceed and asked whether I could get a ride home. I was told they could contact the driver, but that the tires should be arriving shortly and that it would probably be better for me to wait in the lobby. I obliged. After waiting for a couple of hours, Ryan came to me and explained that the tires still had not arrived. By this point, it was approaching closing time. I offered to leave my car overnight so they could finish the work the following day. I again asked about the ride home, but was told that the driver was not available. I ultimately had to arrange my own ride home. The biggest issue for me was that what was initially supposed to be a $17 tire repair that would take roughly an hour or so turned into an entire day at the shop, a damaged tire, four replacement tires, a nearly $1,500 expense, and having to arrange my own transportation home. Because of the situation, I decided to contact the corporate office. I was put in contact with Carlos, who was extremely helpful and professional. Carlos listened to what happened, arranged for the damaged tire to be credited back to my account, and also offered complimentary pickup so I could retrieve my vehicle the following day. I greatly appreciate Carlos and the corporate team at Ted Wiens for taking the time to listen to my concerns and make things right. Ryan and Anthony at the reception desk were also kind and courteous throughout my visit. Overall, my experience at the Decatur location was frustrating, particularly because of the amount of time I spent there and the circumstances surrounding the damaged tire. However, I want to specifically recognize Carlos for stepping in, addressing my concerns, and helping resolve the situation. His assistance made a significant difference, and I appreciate him taking responsibility for helping make things right.

After dropping of my car for extreme shaking and check engine light flashing, I awaited diagnosis. Normally, the diagnostic fee in understandable. However, TW applies half of the fee to your repair, not the normal 100%. I wasn't really crazy about this practice. The main repair turned out to be something minor with spark plugs, so it could have been much worse. I was happy and really need my car for daily use. However, after agreeing to service and paying the bill, I find that a majority of my costs was a huge markup on the spark plugs themselves. OEM on these were around $21 for 4, probably much cheaper at wholesale. TW charged $54 EACH, for a total over $200 just for that, a 10x markup. I understand markup, and labor and service, and generating profit, but this is extreme in my opinion. I truly don't mind paying if I don't have to do the work, and someone competent is handling it for me. But everywhere you go, places are nickel-and-diming people for everything, and just overinflating everything, and this is clearly no exception. Had I known this was the issue, I would have done the work myself. I was under a time and work constraint, so I had no choice. I will probably not use this company again. The initial mechanic wasn't experienced enough to complete an alignment on my car and misdiagnosed that I have a leaking rack unit. After confirming this was not true myself, I called again and Portia got me scheduled with one of her experts to complete my alginment. After dropping my car off at 9am, I got a call back at 7 PM (After hours) that they have finished and its ready for pickup. Portia made sure her guys had full attention on my car and made sure it got done. They did a good job too I will say. For $150 and a 1 year warranty, this was worth it, and Portia made me feel more comfortable with the choice. Removed one star because of the first wasted day, and a slightly long turn around time for the second day, but other than that, I will definitely bring my car back for these types of services again. After the game we started walking back to pep boys and our car is still in the parking lot. At the end of the tunnel no charge. Cashier mention that the nail did not penetrate through the tire. What really sucks through this entire process. It was approximately three and a half hours. I've been at my favorite location discount tires and a pep boys on Simmons. They would have got me out of there an hour short-handed. At the end of the day I'm just glad my tires not flat. I'm glad these guys were open to work on my ride.

Extremely Poor Customer Service…read more I went to Pep Boys around 9:30 AM to return a wiper blade and waited about 10 minutes at the counter, but there was no one there to help. I eventually went outside to the service bay and asked one of the mechanics for assistance. The first employee processed the return but couldn't provide me with a return receipt because he said he didn't know how to print one. He told me to check with my bank to see if the refund went through and asked me to come back in an hour to speak with the manager. I returned about two hours later, only to be told that the original return had been cancelled and never went through. The second employee processed the return again, but only refunded the $33.99 purchase price and did not refund the sales tax I originally paid. He said the tax refund was a manual process and he couldn't do it. What should have been a simple return took approximately 45 minutes, involved multiple employees, and still wasn't resolved properly. Pep Boys still owes me the tax refund for the item. Very frustrating experience and extremely poor customer service. I will not be returning to Pep Boys.

He shook his head and said "at least 2 hours, I've got a lot ahead of you". So I went to Goodyear at Ann and Losee and they had full bays but had me on the road in 20 minutes. And I watched the tech use a torque wrench and he filled my washer fluid.
