Bringing your own parts is unusual (a bit like bringing your own food to a restaurant), but I wanted this specific OEM Japanese kit installed, and offered to pay any additional fees if they required. But they said no problem. They took a look at the kit to assess if it was complete, installed it in a day, and even packaged up all the old parts they replaced back into the box that the new parts came in. I was so disappointed at this place. I made an appt on line as noted on this coupon. But it wasn't honored. My appt was for 6/11. The person that assisted me first said, it's not Father's Day yet. However this coupon says must used before 6/30. After I read the coupon, he said, that he hasn't seen that coupon. I said, it's on your website. He still didn't accept the coupon. My husband came in to check an engine light and have some tail lights changed out. He ended up paying for a full service check and was given a pretty hefty estimate for the work that was needed. The vehicle is old and honestly isn't worth the price they were asking for all the services so we decided to not get it all done because we were planning to get rid of the car and buy a new one soon anyway. The gentleman on the phone was not very helpful during the call. He was being pushy in getting service done but we said we didn't care to as we would get rid of the car soon. We told him we would pay for the service (to check the vehicle) and would pick up the car. He didn't seem to like my response but we move on. They called my husband to pick up the car after they "put it back together", so he goes. He drives the car home, and then to work. He kept hearing a noise during the drive but was on the freeway so he couldn't really stop. Once he gets to work on the strip, he looks under his car and the shop didn't put the black plastic cover on correctly under the car. It had been hanging down and was then scratched and cracked/ torn from the drive to work. He called the mechanic and asked what happened and who "put the car back together" and what could be done so the car doesn't get ADDITIONAL damage (as he was going to trade the car in at the dealership ) ... and the person on the phone said they didn't know what happened. They would call him back. They didn't call. He called again, no answer. They never called him back of course. My husband ended up just pulling the whole plastic bottom cover off and discarding it. Didn't hear from Sun Auto again. Not sure if this was accidental or intentional, since we chose not to service and pay + $3k worth of work on an old car... but it was lousy that they just ignored figuring out who didn't attach the parts correctly. read more

The two guys at the front desk were grumpy, unfriendly, and unwelcoming. They made it seem like customers were there to beg for a free service or a charity. We were there for business and paid for their service. We weren't there begging or soliciting. If you want to attract and retain customers, be kind and courteous. Otherwise, you will lose customers, & they'll take their business elsewhere. This was our first visit to this place, and we had a bad experience. Our family will service our cars elsewhere. They are very incompetent. They flushed my coolant and never refilled it. I was lucky I didn't drive a long distance with no coolant in the reservoir, as it could have ruined my engine. They should have been professional and informed me so I could bring my own coolant if they didn't have any. What kind of mechanic flushes the coolant but doesn't refill it? I paid almost $600 for their service, and they almost ruined my engine. This is very dangerous. Avoid them; they can ruin your entire engine instead of fixing your car, even if you have paid for their service. When the receptionist handed me my key, he didn't inform me where my car was parked. I looked in their parking lot but couldn't find it. I walked across the street and found my car in a different parking lot that belongs to another business. What if I had an older key fob, NOT a remote key? If they plan to drive customers' cars to a different location, they should be kind and inform them. Very unprofessional and incompetent. I had my car towed there as it was blocks away from where it died. They called to say battery was dead and needed new one before diagnosis. I said fine. When i pick up the car they said alternator tested fine. The bill was $400 for a $200 battery. Way too much for install and diagnosis. After I drove away the battery light came on, so I went back. They retested and said alt. is bad sorry we have a bad test the first time. They wanted $800 to install new Alternator. I got one at autozone for $250. Installed it my self.. They gouge you there. DO NOT COME HERE. I came here through my insurance network to have my car diagnosed. I already got the car diagnosed and told them exactly what was wrong with my vehicle and just needed them to contact my insurance so it can be covered under warranty. They came back after two hours that my car wasn't covered (didn't even bother to call my insurance network after I asked twice) and was asking for close to $1000 for a spark plugs repair that only cost max $250. After I said no the diagnostic check was over $200 for something I already told them was wrong with my vehicle. After calling my insurance personally they knocked it down to about $160. I took my car for an oil leak issue. I was charged for repairs to a lower oil pan leak, yet the work order inaccurately described the issue as pertaining to the upper oil pan. Additionally, I was billed for a steam clean that was never performed, the leak was not fixed, a flush and refill to the steering system, and the state of my vehicle's lower engine cover was left unattended. Took my car for a second time, with the same issue. They "fixed". Took my car in for a third time, with the same issue. I was quoted for something else that was "found", I declined the repairs. Upon consulting with another professional, it was confirmed that all the claimed repairs were either not executed or unnecessary, particularly concerning the EPS (Electric Power Steering) system, which does not require fluid. My vehicle has an EPS system. The discrepancies in your documentation (SUN AUTO) and the false claims of service greatly eroded my trust in your establishment, which is obvious that you do not care. They take advantage of hard-working people who recur to them for help and end up being scammed. Anyone reading this who has been a victim, please know they can be held accountable for their deceptive trade practices. Report to DMV, the Office of Nevada Consumer Affairs, the BBB, and in some cases, legal action can be taken. read more

Let me tell you about the time a mother and her daughter walked in with a flat tire, around 330pm. The dude behind the desk told her they didn't have time to look at her tire, fill it with air, or allow her to park the vehicle in their parking lot "because we've had dozens of thefts in the last few months." Her husband was unable to do anything due to being deployed over seas. When I went and changed the tire, a simple inspection would have been enough to tell her the tire was blown. But they couldn't even be bothered to do that. I arrived, 45 mins later. Seeing only 2 cars in the rack, and no one in the office, the manager tried to tell me there were 14 people in there when she arrived. This man should get a raise for being able to help 14 people in 45 mins. He stuttered and lied to my face. It's hard to find an honest shop anywhere, so, do yourself a favor, and just skip this one altogether. The manager strikes me as one of those spineless owners kids. Soft and dumpy, no grease under his nails. Doesn't look like he's actually done an ounce of work in his life. But even if he has, he's a liar. Take your business elsewhere! read more

Amazing service. We had my daughter's oil changed at a competitor up the road and then went to eat lunch at a restaurant in the same complex as Sun Auto. When we left the restaurant we noticed a huge pool of oil under her Jeep. There wasn't a drop of oil on her dipstick. Thank God Sun Auto was in the complex. We walked over and they sent a tech up with oil to be able to drive her Jeep down. They told us exactly what was wrong (the other guys didn't seat the oil canister correctly). They not only serviced the vehicle again and power washed the engine top and bottom to remove the previous mess but they did it for less than the previous place. SUN AUTO RIPOFF! My check engine light had come on on my 2019 Ford Explorer. Took it to Auto Zone for the free engine test & they gave us a code. My husband called Sun Auto and asked if they did a free "Check engine light test" and then give us a repair estimate. The Man on the phone said Yes we do a free check bring it in, no appt necessary. So I brought it in and boy did they see me (an older lady) coming! I explained that the check engine light was on and we needed the check engine test. The counter guy took my info then said sign here on a display screen that only showed a rectangle and a 'sign here' X no words (I assumed I was just signing my car in) - The man never said anything about a charge and off I went. 1 hour later they called and said it's a head gasket leak they don't fix that but they can replace the engine for $9,000 to $12,000 (I swear he said that!) So I went back to get my car and he once again says sign here same display only a rectangle and an X (I assumed it was to get my car back) never once had he mentioned anything about a cost - UNTIL I had signed the display then he says that'll be $201! So of course we had a discussion about how it was supposed to be free He said "Oh no my men did labor I have to pay them for that". What was I going to do just say never mind and leave my car there? Again they saw me coming a mile away and they knew there was nothing else I could do. I went back to AutoZone and got another check said same thing about ignition coil and that man was kind enough to give me the name of a gentleman to go to who he said was honest I took it over there and Angel from Angels Auto Sensor found that the plug to the ignition coil had come loose so he plugged it back in and ALL FIXED! - WTH SUN AUTO! My husband called Sun Auto questioning what the heck and after a bit of a conversation Sun Auto hung up on my husband. Most everyone's tight on money nowadays we are a social security couple so I envisioned that I just rolled down my car windows and threw two $100 bills out And there's nothing I could do about it. Every time I bring our cars into Sun, I always get that same sickening feeling come back, but always end up super satisfied when I am done with the visit. They are always so honest and transparent with everything. I recently came in for a gas smell in my car. They originally told me it would be $115 to diagnose it and that it is non-refundable. It ended up just being fumes from the humidity. When I went to pay, I asked if I could use the Military Discount in which they responded with (there's no charge. We didn't find an issue). I was WOW'd. That is very uncommon these days to find businesses still like this. Everyone else has their hands out for any of your money they can grab. Hello kind folks. Just a quick warning about Sun Auto here in NW Vegas. I took my small Ford Ranger pickup to to Sun Auto to have new tires installed. Additionally, they did a brake job, fixed my broken emergency brake cable, and gave me an oil change. I spent just short of three thousand dollars at Sun Auto. And what an oil change it was! Sun Auto called me and told me the work was done and to come and pick up my Ford Ranger. I did so, and drove the truck for about three days. That's when I noticed a clacking sound coming from my engine. I pulled over and checked my oil. Whomever drained the oil from my truck did not replace the oil! The vehicle was short three quarts and my engine was severely damaged because of the blatant negligence I suffered at the hands of Sun Auto. I took the truck back to Sun Auto and told them the truth about what they failed to replace my oil. Sun Auto said that they would look at it. The following day, Sun Auto called me and said that my driveshaft is damaged and it would cost me Ten Thousand Dollars to replace the engine. I explained that the noise was caused by lifters which are damaged because of their negligence in not putting oil in my truck. They insisted that I replace my engine for that Almighty Ten Thousand Dollars. They refused to entertain my request to listen to the lifters, and then said they were done with me and I should have a good day. I will call the Better Business Bureau, the Auto Mechanics Board, and Every other avenue that I can inform. Sun Auto here in the NW Vegas are nothing short of criminals. My engine ran beautifully, now it sounds severely damaged. Be warned! Sun Auto are criminals who don't stand behind their work. I am sickened by what they did to me!! read more

This place doesn't even deserve a one star. The AC stopped working in my '03 Tahoe and my regular mechanic was out of town. I dropped it off the night before so it could get looked at in the morning. After diagnosis I was told that they put tracer dye in and found some leaks. They would seal the leaks and recharge the AC system for the cost of $301.27. I was guaranteed that if this was done I would leave with cold air out of all vents. I said go ahead. THEN I was told that there was a safety issue and I should not drive my vehicle AT ALL until this repair was done. The recommended repair was for control arms, and the cost was $3185.59!!! I immediately declined that repair and told them to call me when the AC was completed. They called me later that day to tell me the repair didn't work and I needed a new air compressor for $999.89 and even though the repair they did DIDN'T work I was still responsible for the charges. My next question was why didn't you know my compressor didn't work when you did the diagnosis? He said it was working and then stopped. Well that didn't sit right with me. My mechanic confirmed my AC compressor works and that I do not need new control arms. My AC STILL doesn't work and I'm out $300. I will NEVER bring my vehicle there again. SCAM!!! 100% taking advantage of a woman who they think doesn't know anything. I'm a single mother and don't have money to waste on UNNECESSARY repairs. I would like to point out that even if I did need these repairs the markup is astronomical. I STRONGLY urge you to take your vehicle somewhere else. read more

Really sad and disappointed to have to update my previous review. I've been Sun Auto's biggest cheerleader and a loyal customer but they completely lost me yesterday. After the whole alternator debacle, I still went back to them when my check engine light came on. The light was solid, not blinking. They charged me $115 just to check why the light was on. I've never been charged this before by them or any other mechanic. They came back and said the purge valve and vapor canister needed to be replaced. Total cost would be about $1000. And it would take a few days to get the part. Everything didn't seem to check out with the information I was finding online and from friends who are mechanics (not in state). My boss recommended another shop, so I took it there for a second opinion. He said the valve just needed to be cleaned most likely. He checked the warning light and did the cleaning for free. He said if the light came back on, to bring the car back and labor + parts would be about $350. After he cleaned it, the light was gone and the car ran perfectly. I really wanted to keep supporting Sun. But I definitely have to admit they're ripping people off now. Always get a second opinion if their price seems really out there. read more

Hate to have to complain because the guy at the counter was so nice but not sure if the mechanics are qualified enough to do something as simple as an oil change. I took my car to get an oil change on Thursday of last week and hadn't driven it until Saturday when I had to go to LA. I had no pre-existing issues other than the fact that I was due for an oil change. On the way I noticed smoke coming from under my hood and had to pull over immediately just to find that there was oil splatter everywhere! I would take my car back to this place to have them check it out but my trust for auto shops is slim. My AC is not blowing cold. I paid $175 for a diagnostic on it. I was told it was the "AC Temp control module" and that this module would cost over $800 for the aftermarket part alone, plus of course a couple hours of labor. I declined the work. After I took vehicle home, I then went online and found the "AC temp control module" from Oreilly's for only $270, same day. I installed it in literally 10 minutes. This did not fix the problem. So I have two issues. 1. I paid $175 for the diagnostic which was incorrect, so wasted my money. 2. I was told the price of the part was practically 4x higher than the actual cost of the part which is absolutely ridiculous. I have trusted Sun Auto for many years and have spent thousands of dollars there on repairs for my vehicles over the years. This has truly been very eye opening and a huge disappointment. I can no longer trust Sun Auto. **EDIT- I went back and explained my situation, and they were very accommodating and looked into it again. As it turned out the new part I bought was defective. They put my original part back in and oddly it worked. They dig deeper to find it wasn't the AC control module at all, but a broken wire in the harness causing a short. So they fixed that and everything works. I guess my only issue is if I would have paid over $800 to replace the part (which wasn't bad after all) would they have told me, and just fixed the wire and refund me on the part? I chose this place based on reviews but as a woman it's never easy finding a place you can trust. To start off they told me it would be $200 to just analyze my car to see why my warning lights were triggered. I asked if they would apply that to service and they said no. When they called to tell me what the analysis picked up they wanted to charge me almost $500 for a sensor that typically lasts for 80-150k miles. My car had 23k. I would just think that it would prompt additional investigation but this crew did nothing other than to tell me it was saying it was a faulty sensor and needed replacing. The gentleman on the phone continued to talk over me as I asked questions. I called another repair location and they quoted half the price, but also mentioned that they would check a few other areas first as that sensor issue wasn't so common and could be a leak in a hose etc. I won't be going back. read more
