Great place to have service done or any other repairs on your vehicle. This place on McRae has a Master Mechanic that knows his trade. I had been having problems with my Ford F250 truck with "Check Engine" light on and had tried a few other places to no avail. Spoke with Juan Gutierrez at front desk & he assured me his mechanic could help me, and did he ever! No more problems and cost was more than reasonable. I should've come here first, especially since a few months back they had done wonders on a vehicle my grandson was driving to Denver, they checked it & made recommendations to make it road worthy, no breakdowns on his trip there. Never again, I'm a returning customer forever!! I have used this Brake Masters locations on a few occasions and thought it went without incident... Until a check engine light came on. I had to get my alternator replaced, again (was originally replaced at this location, that one went to shit, replaced with lifetime warranty). I also had the serpentine belt replaced at one point during this duration. Everything was always done quickly and now I know why. Fast forward a a couple of months after my serpentine belt was replaced and my check engine light was on. Well, it's an older vehicle and these thing do happen so I started to investigate. After running the codes I had a cylinder running lean and a cylinder running rich. No problem, I did some research and the first thing I read to check was the MAF sensor. Cool... So I get under the hood and the first thing I noticed was the Brute Force CAI was just hanging there. It has a bracket which secures it to the underside of one of the reservoirs ( I can't remember which one at the moment). So, because it was hanging there over time the vibration and friction from the heat shield for the CAI ate through part of the intake pipe. Because of this there was a huge "gash" in the pipe. After investigating it looked like whoever disassembled it broke off the mounting bolt and didn't replace the 5 cent part. But this is the least of it all. I didn't think a gash in the pipe would turn the check engine light on. After heading to Home Depot and getting replacement hardware I started to disassemble the whole CAI setup to make sure it was put back together correctly this time. While doing so I was going to clean the MAF sensor with some MAF cleaner for this could be why the Check engine light was on and it's part of the intake system. So as I began to dive into disassembling the intake to get to the MAF sensor, I noticed something peculiar.... The MAF sensor was put back on BACKWARDS!!!! FUCKING BACKWARDS! Now bear with me... The MAF sensor has instructions on it indicating where the air flow should be going. Now, even if you are an illiterate fucktard, it has an ARROW, yes a picture, indicating the direction of airflow through the MAF sensor. Even the dumbest of the dumb could figure it out... But not the "tech" flunky at Brake Masters... nope. So, after fixing the bracket, cleaning the MAF sensor, and assembling the CAI back together I cleared the codes. It's been almost a year since I did that and guess what? NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT! So, Brake Masters, thanks for the headache, but if you need someone to teach your "techs" how to read or even what simple shapes mean, hit me up! Plus, I need the extra cash to replace the $350.00 CAI you FUCKED UP! read more

80 dollars for a diagnosis, wanted almost 800 dollars. Tried to tell me a part was bad that wasn't. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Had lifetime warranty on brakes. Came in a free years later. They wanted to replace 4 rotors. Rotors were still thick enough. 250 for labor on just the replacement of brake pads.over 700$ Don't bother. Go else where. Crooks read more

I called on Thur to make an appt. Rep said he could get me in first thing Fri morning at 730 when they open. I arrived at 725. Manager said he couldn't get me in for my scheduled oil change for 2 hours 930. He did not offer to resch appt or offer any discounts or promotions for not being able to honor my scheduled appointment. I would not recommend this store. read more

I've had many repair and maintenance work at this location from lift kit on a FJ, brake work, front end alignments for a FJ and RAM, other things and have never been up charged or told I need anything else then what I've come in for which I really like. I've been to other places that have tried to tell me that I needed maintenance work without knowing that they were already done since my vehicles are high mileage. read more

I read the not so good Yelp reviews before taking my car. I didn't know if I should go or what to expect. I came to Brake Masters because it's nearby. I'm so glad I went with them because they offer great and timely service. I took my car in because the brakes were squealing whenever I stepped on them. Robert, the man in the front hooked it up! He's polite and made sure things got done pretty quickly. I had to leave my car overnight because he had to order the brake pads from somewhere else. He made it right though. He offered me a discount and said he found a coupon I could use. Excellent! If you've read my reviews and/or profile page, you know I love coupons. Lol. I was going to take my car to another place on the east side but it's kind of far. I'm glad I went with my gut and brought my car here. A+ service and experience! Be sure and check with them to see if they have any coupons you can use so you can save dinero! They have some on their web site. Even if you don't see any online, you never know! Came here to get an oil change only to find out they took the original screw out and replaced it with theirs. Tried getting another oil change from a different place but couldn't because Brake Masters decided to put in their original screw so that I can't get an oil change anywhere else.... Extremely unprofessional. I scheduled an appointment for 12:00. I sat there for over an hour before I had to talk to the employees and reschedule for another time. Before I rescheduled so was told I'd have to wait ANOTHER hour for them to begin work on my vehicle. The man I talked to was very rude, with an angry, condescending tone. While I was speaking to an employee, another mechanic burped incredibly loudly. After that I had had enough. I took my keys back and left. read more

I had my oil change at this store between 9-10am this morning. After my oil was changed, I went home. Went to get in my car around 2:30pm and noticed oil on the ground. I looked under my car and oil was leaking from the drain plug. I went back to the store and notified them of what was going on and showed them pictures of the oil on the ground at my house. So they have one of the guys pull my car back in the bay. I watched them tighten the drain plug, I could tell by the number of turns it was very loose. After it was tightened the guy from the front desk talks to the other guy that did the work. The guy that works at the front desk then tells me he had them replace the seal on the drain plug. He blatantly lied to me, because he didn't know I was standing there the entire time watching to see what it was they were doing. After I called him out on his lie, he is like I meant to say I'll talk with the guy to see what it is he did. Then they have the audacity to say the only thing they can do is give me a free oil change on my next visit. I think they should have offered me a refund and sent workers to clean the oil in my driveway. read more

Had a brake job done here less than 15,000 miles ago--and had to return the next day as the brakes were not functioning properly. They fixed the problem (I guess). Recently the brakes were making a grinding noise I thought, so went and had them checked. Told me they were 85% worn. I said what kind of junk brake pads you using that last only 15k miles.
