There were 2 young guys working the store. The place was pretty busy and when I finally got to talk to the manager, we arranged for a 3:30 appointment. They were busy when I returned but even though the wait was long, these two young guys worked hard and stayed close to 7pm to finish the job. They were about to test drive my vehicle but they heard a rubbing noise In the back tire so they had to put it back on the lift and fixed the problem. That is called professional dedication and dedication. I admire these young men for their tenacity. The manager was super nice and accommodating as I had to drop my car off and come back at that day due to work. We made it all work out and I'm really happy with the results. The guys were amazing! I showed up and they took care of my Stinger. By the time I was turning off the ignition, one of the guys was waiting to ask me what brought me in. He drove my car to the bay area. Within 3-5 minutes, another guy showed me what needed to be done and I'm about 15-20 minutes, I was gone! My baby is back to running smooth as whistle. And if I may, another business took my money but didn't resolve my issue. But this place has earned my trust. All of the guys are very professional! Great job! Went in for an alignment. They told me they were booked. So I made an appointment for the following day first thing that was open. Well today as I was about to head out the door, the manager Berry calls me to say that they can't fit me in. They were running behind. He was asking me if it was ok to move my to a later time. I told him that would t work because I had to be at work. He pretty much just told me he had to then cancel me if he couldn't set another date. I don't know what's the point of setting a date if they are just going to love it. At this point I don't feel ok in making another date because of fears that this will happen again. Shit shop! Poor work. Poor quality . Up-sales con men! Brake Check #431 8003 Fredericksburg Rd SAT 78229 Invoice 1936385. R/R Left front brake hose. R/R Right front brake hose, DOT 3 fluid flush. $295.47 Grievances: FAILDED to properly replace master cylinder cap; Liner bladder improperly installed. FAILED to add brake fluid to the fill line. FAILED to bleed brakes to proper pressure resulting in a soft pedal. FAILED to compl in a timely manner. 8:30 appointment vehicle was ready at 1:30! WTF! FAILED to remove and replace wheel well liner. Damaged the liner beyond use. Did not notify of the damage, I observed on post repair inspection. I advised the shit shop manager that the brake pedal was soft. He insisted it. Needed a new brake caliper although it was fully operational in the pre inspection. SHIESTY. BRAKE pads are semi metallic. They said shinny dot on the pads are hot spots. False. The pads are semi metallic. Even wear on pads and rotors. Therefore, no hot spots. I mentioned Ineanted to update the calipers one day. They thought they could sucker me. BOTTOM LINE! STAY AWAY! Your life and the safety of others is riding on your brakes. This shit shop does not care! They do shit work. No morals. No integrity. Poor workmanship. I told them I would write a review. Their responses. "You're one in a million". So this is your 1,000,001 bad review. I'll pay someone else to fix it right. DO NOT GO TO BRAKE CHECK! They are everything you expect a bad mechanic to be. Boycott! read more

I would never ever recommend this place. Especially being a girl. I filled out a online request and it priced out what it would be. Definitely should have gone with to good to be true. When they looked at my car this lis of things needing to be fixed was ridiculous. It was over one page. For example they recommended an oil change at 80%. 80% is what was left. Also to the point that I had an oil change about two month ago. For the dust be cleaned off my brakes(not needed) They might as well added it in that I need to change blinker fluid. Back to being a girl I feel like places like this takes advantage of us because we are girls and they think we are stupid. For front rotors and brake pads they quoted me at 404 in person. I went with another honest company. I had them look at my whole entire car. Turns out I just need a new front brake pads. The honest company gave me a quote for front rotors and brake pads and they were about $75 lower. Also I didn't need rotors so it was even cheaper. They gave me a discount after hearing about how much break check gave me a hassle. On another note the other company came to me and we're completely honest and upfront. I showed the new company the paper listing what I needed "fix" they said I didn't need most of it besides the front break pads. Pathetic Again I would never recommend a company trying to take advantage of my money. That's what break check did. It's definitely a scam!!! read more

Bad mechanic Mike and he messed up my truck after 5hrs of trying he broke my tie rod end link and called his manager Damian to talk to me from his house and convince me I have bad suspension kit smh and make mike messed up my steering wheel off center I left with 2 problems after 5hrs wait it's a mess and the owner must make it right I took videos of Mike admit that he can't fix it after brake my tie rod I'm taking it to take whoever responsible this is my safety and my family safety They made me leave with 2 issues and will cost me to fix read more

I came in for a brake check. Eric was honest with his assessment and said I don't need my brake pads changed yet for a couple more months, and that my rotors are fine. I promptly set up a service appointment in about a month and a half. I know that with their honesty I am in good hands, ergo my advanced 5 stars. During a drive across the country my brakes were completely shot. They where making a terrible grinding noise and felt like they were stuck on. Took my car in first thing in the morning and hoping to have it done within a couple hours I just hung out in their lobby working on my laptop. They did an initial inspection then let me know what they were looking at and what my options were. What I appreciated was how much Steve communicated with me. While his initial estimates and costs continued to rise throughout the day, I never got the feeling that he was trying to be shady and take me for a ride. He clearly cared about keeping costs down while still making safe repairs. They explained and showed me all the problems that they were encountering and even demonstrated the faulty actuators for me. After waiting a couple hours it became clear that the job was going to take all day long in order to get the right parts in and the repairs made. So with only two guys in the shop, one of them offered me a ride home since I only lived a couple miles away. Despite all the problems and additional customers, they were still able to have my car ready that same day and picked me up from home when they were done. Y'all, I hate getting oil changes. I was driving by and saw their cute yellow truck outside and called to see their cost for a full synthetic oil change and it was $58. I talked to John and he was wonderful. He got me right in and told me as a first time customer you get $10 off and your fourth oil change is free. I've been paying $80+ for full synthetic oil changes and this was $30ish dollars cheaper. While sitting here I remembered I needed a tire rotation so I asked how much it was and he said FREE with any service! Are you kidding?! I've been paying $20+. Next, he came in and said my filters are good, didn't try to up sale me on a filter I didn't need and checked my lights and alignment. Wow! I'm totally impressed. I've never been happier going to a new place and getting this level of service! I'll be back for sure and telling everyone I know! read more

I recently took my Toyota 4 Runner to Brake check on Lamar in austin. The vehicle needed standard work and also, unfortunately needed extensive work on burst axle seals that soaked the back brake pads. No one likes to spend loads of money for repairs, but some things are necessary! Steve Aden in store 405, was so pleasant to speak with about the details of this expansive repair. He has amazing customer service!! I know customer service... it has been my life's career. As an independent women who grew up around brothers and cars I understand general auto mechanics. As a women, it's common to have a level of impatience show up in a conversation regarding auto repairs once you start asking detailed questions. BUT not with Steve, he was HAPPY to answer all my questions, go into as much detail as I wanted, and offer several options. He was pleasant and patient, I swear I could sense his smile threw our conversation. I felt he was very honest about the work required and empathetic to the financial requirement. My brakes were getting really bad, when I would have to come to a stop or slow down my steering wheel would vibrate so bad that it shook my car. I just hate to have brake work done, they usually reap you off or over charge you. I had a really bad experience with NTB in town, they screwed up my calibers and when I had it inspected with the dealer they told me it looked like someone messed them up because they had tool marks on them. So I had to contact the corporate office and they replaced them for free. That was just one of the problems I had with them, I was always going back for adjustments because my brakes were squeaking. So I put off these brake problems as long as I could. I contacted Brake Check on Fredericksburg Road, they were very nice and helpful over the phone and told me if I could drop off the car they could do a FREE inspection and let me know what the problems were that day. So that is what I did. About 2 hours after I dropped of the car they called me and said you just needed a basic brake job and the rotors needed to be resurfaced, and that it would cost right around $200.00. They also mentioned some others stuff, but stated if I was on a budget that it did not need to be done right away, which I thought was nice. So I told them go ahead and fix the brakes, because I thought that was a fair price. Finally at 7pm I called them back to check on my car cause I knew they closed at 7pm, they stated they just finished and are test driving the car to head this way. When I got back to their location, again they were nice and explained some things to me and cashed me out. The total came out a little cheaper then they quoted me, just is always nice. They even ran a FREE diagnosis test on my car. I will always go back to Brake Check for any brake work I need in the future. read more
