So, I took my car in for an alignment, I drive an old BMW. Not many will or have the equipment to align these cars. Brake check claims foreign cars arent an issue for them, so I called also to make sure it wouldnt be an issue. I dropped off my car, later that day I get called to let me know its ready. Awesome, so I thought. I arrived, checked in & paid the $60.00 since I had booked online. I`m handed some paperwork, saying the car was aligned BUT it needs a ball joint on the driver side....for those that dont know, ball joints are a crucial part of the suspension. I sell car parts, part time. I was shocked as to why they would align it anyway since the ball joint was worn out, the alignment wouldn't hold. I asked, why did you align it knowing it had a bad ball joint? Why didnt you call me to inform that it had a bad ball joint & discourage me to get the alignment, since one cant align a car with worn out suspension parts. The guy says fix it & come on back, we`ll align it again or pay another $60.00 & we will give you a lifetime alignment service. I was open to it, even thou they just took me for $60.00. Three months later, I called them up to let them know I had repaired the issue. I explained to the guy on the phone what had previously transpired. He says, well they shouldn't have aligned it with a bad ball joint. I`m like, dude I know but you all did anyways! He says come back & we`ll align it for just $60.00, so I open the door for them to keep my business by asking, since youve already got $60.00 from me can I get the lifetime alignment if I pay another $60?? He says NO!! I kindly ask, why not since the previous individual said it could be done. He keeps repeating himself to come in for a one time alignment for just $60, over & over like a well trained robot. So, Brake Check keep those $60.00, you're going to need them since I will discourage coworkers,friends, family, & my customers form going to you. This was the second time that I have taken my truck for an alignment which I was talked into paying for a3 year service was a better deal but taking it in for the alignment I was told to make an appointment and leave it there early in the morning dropped it off the first time one Saturday and was not worked on or moved until almost closing time .this past Saturday same thing was asked to drop it off left all day went at 5:00 pm the truck was in the same spot I parked it , I went asked an older employee at the counter if my truck was worked on and he said no, I asked for my keys and left but noticed that none of the vehicles that were there in the morning were gone. read more

Went in for just an oil change around lunchtime, one of the employees told me it would be an hour and a half wait as there were 4 people in front of me. Instead of waiting, he helped me make an appointment for later in the afternoon. When I showed up for the appointment, the same employee greeted me and got me an estimate right away. He asked if I wanted additional services but didn't pressure me when I declined. Great customer service! Gave me an estimate of 45 minutes wait time and the car was done in 20. Also love that new customers get $20 off the first oil change and then every other one is 50% off, I'll definitely keep coming back for those savings! read more

Didn't have no consideration for customer and safety of family, didn't own up for mistake for mistakes of workers and company, and was awfully rude regarding my situation. So made an appointment on line Saturday for the Fair St. Location on Monday morning @ 8 am bright and early. Rolled in at 7:45 am and was taking my chair off the lift when I was greeted by Ruben with a handshake and a smile. He said he had already checked the appointment in his computer and would I please explain to him what I wanted to be looked at this morning. I told him about the brakes and how they had been making noises and I would like to get them all checked but I would like to get one axle done today and another axle done in a few weeks (After payday). So he and Robert looked at the Suburban and examined all of the OSS and then Ruben came and explained to me all of the options. Long story short, I decided to get both axles one because the rear rotors were under minimums and the fronts were close but could go one more time. I told Ruben to go ahead and go to work. He estimated 2 hours or te work but I figured it would be an extra hour for the additional axle and they were right on the money. I wouldn't hesitate to take my car back to this location and you shouldn't either. If you need brakes. Please call and ask for Ruben or go online and make the appointment. Ruben, Richard, and Steve (who worked on my truck) are clean, professional, soft-spoken, and take their business very seriously. I began to feel my steerling wheels shaking slighty when ever i break while at a high speed so i figured let me go get it checked before it gets worse. I took it here to break check on fair and yes they seemed very helpful and professional. They did the break inspection and then also invited me out to my car to show me and explain to me all the things they found that could use some replacing. It was an amount of stuff i could not afford and to be honest i was really confused that i would even need so much work done on my car since it is was only a slight shaking and only occasionally it had done that. It did not seems that messed up. My car is a 2017 not brand new but not even 5 years old on 53000 miles. So i told Oscar i would have to come back on Saturday. He was very nice and understanding. So he goes to puts my tires back and as he is reversing my car from the carport it is now making a really loud squealing noise really loud. I told him wow my car was not making that noise why is this happening now? He says its the metal springs and that they need to be replaced because they are very thin. I was thinking to myself thats odd though because it was not making that noise at all... So then i leave hoping it would go away and nope all the drive home its making this horrible sound....so I come back and ask them to fix it cause it was not making that noise before. He fixed the noise and tells me he found an extra spring there in the shop and put it on my car. ??????? Really??? So you just have extra old car parts laying around from other cars... What for?????? Anyway....So my point is i will never go back to Break Check. That experience has ruined my confidence in them....My experience was just off and i can not pin point it. It seems like they started looking for all these possible things they can tell me need to be replaced that actually could have waited...instead of focusing on the issue i came in for and was concerned about. It was almost like 800 dollars of work that was discovered that i would be needing.....and Im writing this at 2:16 am because i woke up thinking about how i should of been outside watching them from the start of the inspection instead of trusting that they would be honesty and have integrity...... Took vehicle in for an alignment and the steering wheel was off center. Took it back for a realignment and the new alignment was worse than the initial one. The parts are not damaged and no cause for the alignment to be off. I took it back and was told to take it to another shop. The shop refused to fix the alignment even though I purchased the three year alignment from the shop. They do not know what they are doing. Do not take your vehicle to these shops. The service is horrible. If I could I would rate 0 stars. read more

So I was driving around my neighborhood with "I should really get the oil changed" floating around in my head. I happened to look to my left and what do you know, Brake Check has a stall for oil changes. Alright. Head on in and the attendant that helped me was great. He hooked me up with their loyalty card; every fourth oil change is free. He also hookd me up with a $10 off coupon to use on my current oil change. Very happy with the service. My car was ready in about 20 minutes. The site itself is older so it's not sparkly and shiny, but they do have a television and free coffee. Since you won't be waiting long you don't need much more. Absolutely recommend if you live in the Southtown/Brooks City Base area. read more

I'm a fan of brake check but this location needs to be reviewed asap. My girlfriend took her car here a few months ago for a quick oil change. When she got home her engine splash guard was dangling off. I had to tighten the loose screws and go to Home Depot and purchase two more that must have fallen off or never put back on to fully tighten it. She went back a few days ago to get another oil change and mentioned what had happened to them and they said they would take care of it. Well today I heard a weird noise and she mentioned she heard it too. I looked under and now all the screws are gone and zip ties are holding the splash guard in place. We are so furious right now. Now I have to go back to Home Depot to purchase more bolts to hold this splash guard in place. This issue needs to be resolved. We should have learned from the first experince and trusted the reviews online. This place deserves a zero read more

These guys did a great job. Extremely fast and professional with great customer service. My front rotor had been squeaking and I needed new pads, so I brought the car in to them. My vehicle has pretty low clearance, so rather than just grounding it out trying to get it onto a normal lift they took the time to use the correct lift, which I appreciate. Once they had the tires off and had a look, they gave me the walk around and showed me what was going on. I really appreciated them taking the time to show/explain what was going on rather than just telling me what they wanted to do. Got new pads, all rotors resurfaced, and new hardware. The deal on the oil change was only a few bucks more than it would have cost me to buy the oil myself so I got that done too. In and out in about two hours. And with a pretty good military discount as well. Friendly staff and good work. I highly recommend this shop. read more

I left the Mitsubishi dealer a couple days ago knowing it would cost me 800 dollars to change the rear brakes on my EVO MR without adding labor costs, Ridiculous overated charges. Just last month I remember speaking to Richard at Brake check and him mentioning that if i ever needed my brakes done he can assist me with that process. I decided to give him a call and mentioned to him the ridiculous price West Loop Mitsubishi was quoting me. He was quick to look up the parts for my Car and quoted me about 1/4 of what the dealership was charging me. He ordered the parts and had them in no time. He assured me it would not take more than and hour since he had Joe Cortez and Joe Fernandez present, and My rotors and brakes were lifetime guaranteed. I am extremely satisfied with the work they have done to my car and not to mention the price they did it for. Took my car in for an oil change. After leaving the shop, my car was making a very loud noise. I called the shop immediately and they told me to bring it in. Since it was after hours, I took it in the next morning. The shop manager took it for a test drive and then popped the hood. He told there was nothing wrong with my car. I told him that it sounded like something was open as the engine noise was being heard quite loudly in the car. He insisted everything was fine. As I am very busy, I did not get a change to get to the dealership for two months. They looked at it and determined that the air filter cover was not closed correctly. $135 later - no noise. I went back to Brake Check and was given the name of the manager of the store, John Moreno. After talking with him this morning, I was told that I should have gone to another Brake Check if I didn't agree with the first store. Bull!! I was told everything was fine. The only reason I went to the dealer was because I thought something else had gone wrong. He then said he would check on it and get back with me. He hung up without getting my number or name. Great customer service. I will be taking this case to Small Claims Court immediately. read more

I took my vehicle (F-150) to get a service repair from Brake Check. I advised the store associate, Eric Patlan, that I was seeking new brakes and an oil change. He requested that I leave the vehicle and return at a later time. At 5:16 pm, I return to Brake Check and notice that Mr. Palton and two other associates were still working on my vehicle. He requested that I continue to wait since service was not complete. I was there until 6:49 pm, after Mr. Patlan 'supposedly' test drove the vehicle. I was under the impression that I was receiving my vehicle in superior conditions and driving like new. Unfortunately, that was not the case. While driving, I noticed that the vehicle was unstable and was emitting a burnt smell. At first, I thought it was a 'normal' smell being that everything was newly placed and the vehicle may just be adjusting. Things started escalating from there since I was unable to drive faster than 30 miles per hour. I desperately tried to pull off to the side, the brakes were not responding and almost lost control of the vehicle.I cannot allow someone else to go through the same situation. Brakes are a delicate matter and this could have led to unnecessary physical injuries or even death. Everybody was placed in jeopardy due to their negligence and unprofessionalism. read more

Went into this place after fixing my own rotors and brake pads and noticing a strange noise after braking from slow speeds. RIck, the retired Marine behind the counter, was prompt, courteous, and, above all, honest. He had my car up on blocks within 20 minutes and explained what he thought the problem was - the shop is open door, so the techs even walked me through what they were doing and how. (in case you're wondering, no, the sound wasn't the fault of my crappy repair job, it was something else entirely). When I picked the car up, the sound was actually still there - so I turned around and brought it right back. Rick had the service manager ride in the car with me, note the noise, and, at *NO COST*, kept the car another night and did an entire inspection and rework of the brakes to including mounting and remounting the tires, inspecting hubs, the whole 9 yards. Extremely thorough and very diligent. Though they didn't find anything noteworthy, the noise is reduced...somehow...so I give them credit. Should I ever need work I cannot do myself, I'll go to these guys. read more

As I was on my way to work my left tire started rattling and shaking, very scared when i made it to work I called Brake Check and the gentleman (Nick) who answered the phone was really nice he was concerned with my safety and was able to see me at the time that worked best for me. I arrived during my lunch break and immediately him and the crew got to work to identify the issue. A bolt came out of my caliber and Nick demonstrated the issue and fixed it for me at no charge, i also mentioned I needed an oil change and they fixed that right up for me, I was in and out within 45 minutes and I was pleased with the treatment I was given.
