Had a horrible experience with this shop, hence the 1-star review. If I could, I would have given them 0. This place was recommended to us by friends, so people have had good experience here, just not us. My husband took my car in to diagnose a problem. After checking a couple of things, we were told that we need to take the car to the dealer to diagnose the problem there, but they did suspect what the dealer eventually confirmed. At that time we were quoted $500 to fix the problem. We took the car back and took it to the dealer, paid $115 for diagnostics, which confirmed the problem. My husband then called Brake Centers to confirm the quote they gave us and they once again confirmed that it was $500, maybe $100 more. Dealer's quote was almost double, so we decided to take the car back to Brake Centers. Today, Brake Centers called and quoted us $1000 to fix the problem... and when my husband said that we'd rather go with the dealer because now the price difference is insignificant and we'll get credit for $115 already paid and a free loaner, they said "No problem. Come and get the car". What happened next is simply bizarre... When my husband got there, they refused to give him the car back, asking for the explanation as to why we don't want to fix the car there and that we owed $$ for diagnostics and committed to fix the car with them. This is AFTER they sent us to the dealer to pay $115 to diagnose the problem and doubling their estimate over the weekend... Only after they were threatened to be reported to the police for their shady practices, they told my husband to get out and to never come back. No worries, we won't be back. read more

I'm glad we puttered into this place after I broke our oil pan on the washboards of Death Valley (that was fun if not stupid) When we arrived it was already after 4pm and we needed to get a part ordered and we needed to get back on the road to San Francisco. Saro and his team identified the right piece for our '89 Landcruiser, and then one of them rushed out to pick it up before that place closed. I think they even stayed open late to do the replacement for us. It was a costly piece, but the labor was well priced and they didn't upcharge for picking it up in a hurry. I was so pleased that I declared I'd write this review. And now, nearly 1 year later, I'm thinking of getting some maintenance work done and making good on that promise so they'll be extra happy to see me again. read more

100% Scam! DON'T BE FOOLED. Don't waste your time or money. I went in because I has issues with my car starting. I had them check the battery and they said it was bad so I had to change it in order to see if there was any more issues, like an alternator problem. The middle eastern short mechanic gave me the price and said it would be 5 year warranty for the battery. I agreed, so he went ahead and installed it. Once he installed the battery he checked my alternator and said my voltage for that was 14 and the normal range is 12-13.5. I am not a mechanic but basic knowledge tells me there's not much of a difference between 13.5 and 14. He then had his receptionist charge me for my battery and told her that my battery had NO warranty, so I asked what happened to the previous 5 year warranty statement he made. They said that statement was made before the assessment so now they can't guarantee my battery. So I asked them why couldn't they stated this disclaimer BEFOREHAND. That is something called INFORMED consent. At that point there was nothing much I could argue about so I paid for the battery and decided to go somewhere else. Before I left I asked the short middle eastern mechanic what the voltage was again and he stated 14.5 to 15 and that my battery would give out at any point even though it was new because my alternator was bad/not working appropriately. The price for his work would have been 180 for 2 hours labor to install alternator and 150 plus tax for the new alternator piece. For a total 330 +plus tax. This is just for the alternator not including the new battery he just installed. Their condescending and patronizing demeanor made me want to get a second opinion. I didn't believe their story. I went to another shop that checked my alternator and they said it was fine and there was nothing wrong with my car. In addition, I went to a chain auto parts business and they also checked my alternator and they said the voltage was good. Ultimately, in my case Brake Centers wanted to charge me for something my car didn't need. In addition, they stated that there were other things wrong with my car in order to cheat me out of my battery warranty. I would give this business 0 stars if I could. I am a woman not a FOOL Brake Centers! Disclaimer: I describe the mechanic as short because there was a tall mechanic too. I went there for an oil change and to have a problem related to a previous repair they did. ended up with a $900 bill!! I am not going to say the work done at this place is bad. I will be fair to say they do ok work. I have spent over $6,000 personally at this place and have sent friends there over the past three years that I have known them. But the guy will look at your car and find 10 problems and tell you that you need to fix them right away!! I would expect for him to be fair to a loyal customer and at least give a good discount. But no... He's greedy!. I kept saying I want my car back the same day. He said don't worry it'll be ready but wasn't. Just don't fall for his trap!. He' will do anything to make you spend money!
