It's a shame this place doesn't top many Oklahoma "to-do" lists. It appeared online after some deep digging of things we could do when en route to the Great Salt Plains. In the end, turns out we could've solely made a day trip around this place and it would've been a summer weekend well spent. Inside you'll find taxidermy, saddles, movie memorabilia, old dolls (only vaguely creepy) and a host of other artifacts. Even fossilized dinosaur poop (or so they say). The huge building is also home to a slew of western-themed "movie sets" which the owners use for their own productions, and which the public is free to explore on off days. Best of all is when you get to talking with the owners. They've got a wealth of information if you take a moment to chat. They've got rollicking tales from their old movie shoots- and best of all a heap of John Wilkes Booth conspiracy theories linked to the town of Enid and stemming from their days working on the crew of the "Unsolved Mysteries" series. You'll leave this place feeling a huge sense of affection for the great state of Oklahoma and the wonderfully quirky folks who inhabit it.

This is an eclectic museum of railroad paraphanalia, as well as a significant number of full-scale…read morepieces of rolling stock in the adjacent rail yard. Run by "Watermelon" Campbell and his delightful wife, Edna, the collection is the result of a lifetime dedication by a knowledgeable railroad man. Watermelon served as a conductor in a career of more than 40 years; he has put together an assemblage of dining car china, a collection of switch locks, lanterns, railroad signage, photographs, railroad scrip from the 19th century, railroad matchbooks, playing card sets, ticket punches, and hundreds of other items that tell the promotional story of working railroads. The museum also includes extensive N-scale and HO-scale working layouts. 11 cabooses are part of the rolling stock collection and can be walked through and experienced. The Frisco Mountain-type 1519 locomotive is also part of the collection (once on display in an Enid park) and the cab can be visited using a (somewhat steep) ramp. Young children will not enjoy this museum as much as adults and railroad enthusiasts, though the ability to explore real-world trains may appeal to some younger folks. Go to this museum soon, as Watermelon turns 97 on Memorial Day 2019 and his stories are a significant part of the visit. The $5 suggested donation is a trifle for the things you will learn here.

But: -this place has SO much delayed maintenance, it looks like it's falling apart. Too many issues to mention, from the siding of the cabin peeling and aging horribly, lighting that is rigged and not finished nicely (cords hanging), to the chapel having outlets half poking out (a horrible danger for small fingers). -the owner/operator does not seem to know the definition of hospitality. He is rude, condescending, threatening and simply one of the most unwelcoming people I've ever met. He's in the wrong business. -the catered food was terrible. The potatoes were so salty, they were not edible. The rest of the meal was just blah. -the outdoor spaces are littered with clutter and debris. -there's a giant hole in the middle of one of the main roadways. I'm not talking small pot hole, I'm talking a 3 foot deep hole that would destroy a car. -the cabin is full of dusty, unkempt clutter. There is literally junk everywhere. -dirty and dingy. Needs much more work to be worth the cost. -did I mention the owner? Did I mention his rudeness? So 2 stars, because of its potential. If it weren't for the rude owner, I may have gone for 4 stars. But he made the time so very unpleasant for our group.
