The Gelati is nice but costs are high, service is slow, staff rude. It isn't worth it with so many shops to get icecream from.

The manager conducts herself in the manner of a child by talking trash about other local businesses in front of customers when in fact the customers were staff of the business in question the manager was trash talking. CASH ONLY. Such a cute little shop right on main street of Cooperstown. This ice cream shop is located just a few steps from the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Prices are great. There are many interesting flavors to choose from. I got a coffee flavored ice cream with pieces of chocolate-bittersweet sinphony. The texture of it was perfectly creamy and staff there are very nice. There's ice cream, soft serve, hard and soft italian ice, and milkshakes. There's also a wall on the back of the register counter where baseball kids can go put their pin on! Very cool place. There are benches along the street outside for you to enjoy your ice cream, but the inside of the shop gets really full and has no chairs or tables. Definitely recommend this to everyone! read more

It was good enough to go back today 6/29 BUT supposed to be two scoops again only it was one and a little bit - maybe a quarter - for $5.25!! Terrible, rude customer service and way overpriced, underwhelming ice cream this past August. Yes, it's close to the Hall of Fame but there are far better places for ice cream in the area. The place is run by an absentee "manager" who when she is there doesn't know what she's doing and is quite rude and defensive. Our ice cream was 10 dollars and we just ordered two. Really close to the baseball hall of fame and is right down the street. They have flavor burst but they only give you a tiny bit. The ice cream was amazing though. And also it was packed!!!!! read more

I wish I could leave ZERO STARS! This was the WORST EXPERIENCE I EVER HAD at a restaurant/ice cream parlor/place of business. My 6-year old son has SEVERE NUT ALLERGIES. My 2 kids, uncle, 3 cousins and I were visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame and this place looked like a good place to get some ice cream afterwards. Like I always do when I enter a place serving food/dessert, since my son has nut allergies, I asked the server and the owner (both behind the counter) what would be safe for my son to eat considering his nut allergies. The owner looked at his employee and said "what did this guy just say?" So I asked my question again and the owner abruptly interrupted me and said "I heard exactly what you said...you must be kidding." I nicely said "Sir, my son has bad nut allergies so I have to know what would be safe for him." I explained to him that soft serve is usually safe due to the fact it's in a machine and has no contact with other ingredients. I asked him if I could see the mix that is poured into machine so I can read the ingredients and he said he doesn't have a container I can look at. I then asked him if I can know the brand that is used so I can Google the ingredients and he said he doesn't know. This is all occurring while my family and I are the only ones in the ice cream shop so there was really no rush and no reason to not want to help us. I then asked about these candy toppings that were packages and seemed to be away from everything else. I asked him if I could take a look at the ingredients list. He told me he does not have an ingredients list. I then asked him if I could look at the package. He said I could not look at the package because he didn't have any. The whole thing was ridiculous. I said to him, don't you serve this product? He said he does. I asked, "do you have it in stock?" He said "yes". So I said, "then can I look at the package?" He said "No...I have none for you to look at." The server, a younger gentleman, then said to me that he believes the Italian ices would be safe for my son. The owner abruptly stopped him and said "I don't know what this guy thinks...Coming in here with this kid with all these allergies asking all these questions." I then said to my group "We are leaving, guys." My uncle and I had just about had it. And we also didn't want to make more of a big deal since my son with the allergies was visibly realizing this whole thing had occurred based on his allergies and us keeping him safe. But one of the children asked why we were leaving and I said it was because the man wasn't nice and he clearly didn't want us buying his ice cream. As we were walking out the door, the owner called me back in. My uncle and I headed back toward the counter and the man shouts at me "I don't know what kind of shitty father brings his kid with allergies into an ice cream place trusting what we tell you anyway!" I almost lost my mind and couldn't believe what we were hearing. I yelled at him "I can't believe what a jerk you are and how you stay in business; meanwhile all I wanted was some help with keeping my son safe!" My uncle lead me out saying "This guy stinks...I'm glad we're not giving this place our business." And that part was definitely true. But I couldn't believe what we had gone through. Thankfully, a few doors down, we found a wonderful Hershey's ice cream place that was so wonderful toward my son's needs. Business is a few doors away from the Baseball Hall of Fame. Ice cream is very good, they sell both hard & soft serve. Plus some Italian ice. However, there are a number of issues I have to mention that prevents me from giving this business more than 1 star. There's a hand written sign saying they only take cash because credit cards are not working. However after reading another post about this business, clearly this applies everyday. They should write a new sign that says "Cash only". A member of our group tried to order 3 scoops, a different flavor for each scoop, for his daughter. The person taking the order said "We can't do that." After our friend requested a second time his 3 scoop order because he didn't really understand their response to his order, the person taking his order practically yelled at him saying "We can't do that! Only 2 scoops or 3 scoops!" The tone of that message could have been delivered in a nicer manner. Plus, if they had a menu with details like number of scoops options & pricing it would be helpful to people ordering. Another in our group asked for a milkshake, order taker said "We are not making milkshakes". so he ordered something else. However, less than 30 seconds later, another customer ordered a milkshake & they got it. Afterwards, we did notice a hand written sign that says "No shakes, sundaes, or sprinkles.", but it applies when they are busy, I believe. However, the timing of when that sign applied & when it didn't during our experience was very strange. Plus, aren't those standard items that should be made available when it's busy or not? It's an ice cream shop! After leaving the shop, a family from Alabama overheard us complain about the strange experiences we had. They piped up & said they had a negative experience with the service too, they thought it's just how "New Yorkers" were. I would recommend you take your business elsewhere, they do not appreciate patrons! read more

Worst ice cream shop ever. The owner is rude and has no people skills. Also, I ordered and Italian ice the kid serving me put one scoop in a cup and then as he was putting the second scoop in the cup he dropped it on the dirty counter picked it up put it onto the first scoop and said he would be right back. He came back minus the scoop that fell but still had the scoop he put the dirty one on. I told him that I didn't want that scoop so he dumped it out but still tried to use the dirt cup. read more

Pros: the cherry Italian ice may have been the best I ever had. The mint chip did not really seem homemade, but it was very good. I thought the prices were reasonable. Very refreshing on a hot day. Their soft serve choices look extensive. Cons: no prices (or sizes) are listed. They only take cash, which is true of several area businesses. Service is a little slow, and no one seems to enjoy working there. read more

Short walk from HOF. They were going through some staffing and equipment issues when we were there, but the soft serve options were very good while the hand-scooped items did not turn out so well. Relatively small portions.Said they were not accepting credit cards that day but their sign that said that looked a little worn -- so make sure you have the cash before you buy. At least they have a nice 2-table, 4-chair reserved spot outside to eat your order before continuing on. read more

Stopped at Brain Freeze this past (induction) weekend, and left disappointed. Got a medium cup of ice cream, it was more cup than ice cream. Barely half the cup was full. I would've taken a picture but the macro setting on my phone isn't that great. They also ran out of chocolate syrup and milkshakes (not totally sure how). From what I could taste, the ice cream was OK. Price wasn't bad. read more
