There was an event here to raise funds for families in need of immigration assistance. CUCO hosted the event & it was a nice way he was giving back to the community that he cares for. Brain Dead Studios employees were nice & gathered the event perfectly. Everything about it was done smoothly & props to the staff & everyone involved.

My wife and I stayed next door and went here to see the Friday night showing of The 1998 movie Rushmore. It was fantastic this is a no frill theater but the place was packed. The popcorn delicious they sold beer. Friendly people. Independent theater. It was one of the best things we did in the area

SUCH A FUN MOVIE EXPERIENCE my friends and I loved it, we usually go out to see movies together but when I saw that Godzilla was playing here I immediately got tickets! The theater is smaller than most which was expected the popcorn is around $7 and movie tickets are $12 plus tax (purchase through the Brain Dead website!) Hope to return soon for another fun movie night! Definitely give this theater a try if you see a showing that you like!

I went to the theater two nights in a row, and had two overlapping but very different experiences. Normally I always want to cheerlead indie cinemas and arthouse theaters but I also want to give an honest review and not just wax poetic about the experiences. The first night I went with a friend to see a very obscure indie film. The tickets were $13.50 and there's assigned seating. We didn't really enjoy the movie itself but the staff were really nice. While I understand that it's LA and an indie cinema, a bucket of popcorn runs $9 (and they don't have butter or seasonings) and a soda was almost $7. They also have canned beer and wine, and personal frozen pizzas and burritos. I know you can get a membership so maybe it's cheaper if you do that. Second night I went alone to see an almost-sold out screening of Velvet Goldmine. They were having difficulties with the film and the small lobby became chaotic and packed with people because the theater wasn't seating. There was one guy (Marco I think was his name) doing all concessions plus scanning tickets by himself, but he was positive and friendly despite the stress level. When they finally seated us, I was disappointed to find out that the audience was just kinda awful. I sat near the very back, and the back row was a big group of friends who were all loud and whispering/giggling the entire movie. People kept talking in normal conversation voices, checking their phones, getting up to walk out to the lobby repeatedly, etc. Also if you sit in the back of the theater you can clearly hear people in the lobby, and during the movie the staff were in the concession area being super loud. There were several quiet poignant parts of the movie where I could hear the staff just being talkative and loud on the other side of the wall. I ended up leaving the movie early because of the people around me who wouldn't stop talking and whispering nonstop, I was so taken out of the experience I just wanted to go home. The theater only has street parking (sometimes metered) so plan accordingly. I do think they have amazing programming, this whole month looked fantastic on the calendar and I would see most of their offerings, but I wish they were stricter on audience etiquette like the New Bev and that concessions were a little more reasonable. Also some soundproofing between the lobby and theater might be nice, or at least the staff please keeping their voices down during screenings.

Seats were comfortable, film print was soft and lovely to behold. First off: parking. No lot, but we arrived for 11:15pm doors opening at 11 and were rewarded with an off hours meter right out front. Then, lined up behind other early patrons, behind the sign stating ONE LINE. Whether you've pre-purchased tix online, or will purchase at box office, each guest goes in one at a time with an issued BO ticket stub. FAB! Greeted and welcomed warmly by staff. LOVED that the manager came up to the front on a mic and spoke a bit about the theater and the formats then announced house rules: cell phones away, no conversations, be a decent human. (I may have added the 3rd, but that was the gist.) Previews were curated to align with "True Romance" - SO COOL! We were treated to the original theater trailers for "Bandlands"(1973), "Bonnie & Clyde"(1967) and "Wild at Heart"(1990). Seats were comfy, traditional, OG movie theater seats. Plush fabric on padding - no reclining here! Our seats in the front row were a perfect distance to the screen and we thoroughly enjoyed "our movie." We have multiple formats and release of this Tony Scott(RIP) film from a Quentin Tarantino/Roger Avary(uncredited) script, but NOTHING beats the "pops", "hits" and beautiful colors of 45mm film. New Beverly Cinema is proud of their (Mr. Tarantino's) collection and lovingly share many awesome classics at a very fair price. I've previously purchased merch (Rick Dalton & international release version "Resevoir Dogs" shirts) for Hubs from their website and we've been happy with the quality of everything. Tonight, I was a bit disappointed they weren't carrying "True Romance" shirts, but that's okay, '...usually, that's the way it goes, but every once in awhile, it goes the other way too.' Cheers! I did appreciate their Devil Wears Prada themed lounge/bar area plus their photo ops areas - booth and staircase. So movie decor promotions were 9/10. As far as the movie theater itself, it seemed like our theatre was older, as the seats didn't recline. I thought reclining seats was standard nowadays. So I'd give the actual theater a 7/10. My friends got some popcorn from the concession stands and the line wasn't too long. We were disappointed that there weren't any more themed popcorn buckets, magazines, sunglasses, nor keychains left, and we came the Sunday of opening weekend. Since it wasn't that busy, I also suggest they clean up the area a bit, as the trash by the butter was overflowing, and were left a bit messy. 6/10 Overall, my friends and I had a good time, especially since it's at The Grove. Lesson learned is to check which exact movie theatre you're getting since reclining chairs are not standard seats there.

The laser aligned sound system is great and the enormous curved IMAX theater screen is the largest in Hollywood and the third largest screen in North America. I'm lucky to have been invited to a movie premiere here a while back with the red carpet, and it's always fun going here to see a movie (even by myself) with some fresh popcorn anytime there's a great feature playing. Every day of the week this is such an impressive place to see a film, and it feels like a special event. This review is mainly for the large historic TCL Chinese auditorium theater, not the smaller TCL Chinese 6 Theatres that are attached to it upstairs which are excellent and comfortable but modern and nothing really special to look at. Also, if you see a movie in the attached 6 smaller cinemas, you have to enter from the Ovation mall upstairs and can't enter the lobby of the main theater. The original cinema auditorium building opened as Grauman's Chinese theater in 1927. It's where the original "Star Wars" premiered and the location of three previous Academy Awards presentation events. A 90 foot pagoda is centered in the middle, and there are 2 genuine Ming dynasty lion statues at the main door's entrance; many of the statues, large bells and decorative elements were imported from China in the 1920s. The concrete blocks in the courtyard have the footprints, handprints and signatures of many movie stars, and even music industry stars (like Lisa Marie Presley) from the 1920s up to today. There are over 900 seats. They have a "stadium" style with a soft red velvety material, decent legroom and are generally pretty comfy. It's a large theater and my favorite seats are dead center below the huge carved chandelier about 20 seats back from the front. Rows E, F, G and H give an immersive feeling. Row M has a full view with no rails around. There are also two VIP balconies with seats which I've never visited. Definitely look up at the ceilings because they're incredible with painted details and the huge light fixtures. Take some time and walk down the staircase on the side of the theater to the bathrooms where you'll see some gorgeous art deco statues on the way and lots of photographs of stars from different eras. You can do a 30 minute tour here 7 days a week (excluding special events) and book it at the box office. The tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at the theater's history, but I personally think it's better to see a movie and then explore by yourself inside before and after the film. Although you will get more historical information on the tour. It's nice to linger after a movie and look at all the details. The easiest parking is to use the structure at the Ovation mall on Hollywood and Highland, which has an entrance on Highland Avenue north of Hollywood Blvd. From there, you can walk to the theater and take the escalators. The theater validates Ovation parking.

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience recently. Part of this is from poor service at the box office and part of this is due to lack of any customer service from FANDANGO. I went to see the Revenant re-release in IMAX on 2/26/26 at 8:45pm. I purchased two tickets in advance on Fandango and unfortunately the day of, my friend who I was going to see the movie with got really sick and could not risk getting me or anyone else sick. Being that I bought the tickets on Fandango I was prompted to go to the box office to pick them up. When I arrived at the box office to get my tickets, I explained my situation to the person working and asked if I could get a refund or an exchange and use the ticket at a later date?! This person told me that because I bought it through Fandango, I have to deal with them. That was frustrating, but I understand because it was technically purchased through a third-party. The ticket was $27.44, which is very steep but seeing a film at this theater, especially such an amazing film in IMAX would make that price worth it, IF THE TICKET WAS USED!!!! I was looking forward to this experience very much and telling everyone I knew about it. Being that I arrived to the movie on time that means I did not have time to process the refund on Fandango before going to the movie. I reached out to Fandango the next day and I was informed that because I didn't process the return prior to the movie starting I cannot get a refund or an exchange. While I understand that may be the policy, only one out of two tickets were used. I had 2 separate confirmation numbers for my 2 tickets and only one of them was used. I received nothing for the money that I paid, which makes this all feel like a big scam. I spoke with someone via Fandango's chat feature and the issue was escalated further to the Fandango customer service team and I received an email basically telling me what I just explained; they can't do anything for me because I didn't process the refund prior to the film. I feel like my hands are/were tied. I tried MY best and not given any real solution from either fandango or the theater. I am not leaving this review to shade the theater itself, it's more because I couldn't find a way to leave a review for Fandango. Ultimately though if the theater can't/won't do something to honor this or at least have a little compassion, it makes me wonder if I need to be spending my hard earned money there?! If the policy is genuinely that you have to make the return before the film starts, I would've appreciated the person of the box office at least telling me that. I could've let it go and just accepted the L. But I feel like I was kind of sent on a wild goose chase and that's why I am upset. Main take away, solidify your plans prior to going to the film so that you can make a return if necessary and do not use Fandango to get tickets.

My son has been wanting to see Devil Wears Prada 2 and the first one is one of his favorite movies of all time. Personally, I don't like that movie but I went along with him. Tickets are $25 each and they have a $4 parking garage, but we were lucky enough to get a free after-hour meter on the street. It's a nice place and it seems like comfort is their top priority. The recliner chairs are extremely comfy and come with a blanket in case you get cold. You know how movie theaters are always chilly. Once you get settled, you can press a button that sends an employee over to take your order. It's completely optional. We got one small popcorn (light butter, $6) which was big enough for both of us. I like this idea of having the option of ordering and dining at your seat while watching a movie, but the reality is a bit different. It's kind of annoying to see the employees coming and going when someone needs a refill or places a new order during the movie. You can hear them talking and they can even block your view. It's frustrating when you are trying to focus. With that being said, I think it has more pros than cons. There are bars and bathrooms located across the several floors and the one we went to was exceptionally clean. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back to this theatre. I prefer something more standard like AMC or Pacific Theatres (RIP!)...

While I understand policies exist, I was surprised that no reasonable accommodation or alternative seating was offered for a disabled patron who was simply waiting for family. What upset me most was not just the lack of accessibility-minded accommodations, but the dismissive attitude I encountered from several employees and the difficulty I had even obtaining the manager's name. For a theater that emphasizes comfort and premium service, I expected far more compassion, professionalism, and awareness regarding accessibility needs.

When we got to the top, we were asked to fill out a waiver on our phones--super quick and easy, but honestly something that could've been done earlier when buying tickets online. Parking in the area was $20 at a lot across the street. Not terrible for a Friday night in LA, but still worth mentioning. Your ticket includes skate rental and one drink, so we grabbed a Paloma (the other option was not available) which hit the spot. Unfortunately, the skating surface was a bit of a letdown--treaded hard plastic mats that didn't offer a smooth ride. It took a lot of effort to move and wasn't beginner-friendly. Plus there was a tricky spot that tripped up more than a few skaters. The biggest surprise was the low energy overall--music was pretty quiet, and the vibe felt more relaxed than festive. We expected more of a party atmosphere for a Friday night rooftop in the heart of LA. It was still fun to do something different and hang out with our group, but unless they upgrade the floor or amp up the energy, it's probably a one-and-done for us.
