After doing several months of research and going through sites and sites of pictures of work done by locticians, my sister and I were sitting at my kitchen table trying to make a final decision. When I mentioned Lana's name, a huge rainbow appeared outside of my sliding glass door. That was definitely a positive sign for me. I told her, "well, it looks like the universe has made the decision for us!" I called Lana and set up a consultation for the both of us at the same time. Lana was very pleasant and introduced us to a client she was working on so we could see her work, first hand. The client was nice and let us touch her hair and told us a little about her journey. My sister and I have been coming to Lana for two years now, and she is wonderful. Extremely pleasant and polite. She creates a calming atmosphere with relaxing music playing, if you prefer, she has a big screen T.V. to watch the latest movie on. Lana even let's my sister and I schedule all of our appointments together. (Saves us on gas) Lana is extremely clean and disinfects her chair after every client. (Even after my own sister.) She sweeps around her chair as well after every client. You feel like you're the first client of the day, every if your appointment is in the evening. She has a little fridge next to her to offer you cold water if you'd like. I've referred a few of my friends to get their sisterlocks done by Lana, whether it's just to tighten them or a complete installation. Not a single one of them is dissatisfied. I smile when I hear people complimenting my friend's hair. If feels good to be able to refer someone to Lana and know that they will be well taken care of. Oh, and she can hook up a style for you like no other. I am always pleased when I leave her chair, not to mention she has a lot of goodies you can purchase from her that you might need to keep your locks on point. You might be going out that night and luck up on a fabulous pair of earrings, a colorful locsock, or even a whole outfit. She can be a one stop shop to get you turning heads when you leave her shop. Lana started my locs in 2007 and has been doing them every since she does a very good job and she's not slow at it and she always teaches you about hair maintenance conditioning shampoo ect.... Very disappointed! Although Lana seems like a nice person. She has false advertisements on her website which is on a business card SHE GAVE OUT. I went in for a consultation which if you see on her website which is STILL up that the consultation is free for a the next 3 months. There is no start to end time for this adverstisment. During her consultation she gave me a large book to review. I spent a total of 5 minutes while she looked at my hair, she gave me an orange folder with her pricing and info. The braided two small plats. While looking in this trifold titled "natural hair underground", i noticed a surprising consultation fee. When asked i was told "NOTHING IS FREE". I explained that i was not expecting a fee for a free consultation that is listed on her website currently. She said that "her website was old". She did in good faith split the fee. I love my locs by Lana! I've been coming to her for over a year with my sister and we always get excellent service! So glad we did our research and picked her. Lana is always ready to go when we arrive, the environment is clean and cozy! I noticed she sweeps after every client and cleans her chair and uses clean tools (even after my sister). Lana has created an environment where we're able to relax while being treated like the queens we are An added bonus is being able to buy the needed hair goodies! She has them on hand. So fist of all I would like to say to anyone think about getting Sisterlocs...do your homework! I did not find out so many things until I found out what I did not know! A true certified Loctician would have gone over the consultation in more detail than showing a video from the 80's and asking did I have questions! A true professional provides you with enough information to have questions or know you have had them answered! First off all I have to agree with the young lady who says Lana is deceptive in her practice and does not respect your time as a client! Sisterlocs.com has ALL certified Sister loc technicians in ANY state, and no Lana is not one of them, although she leads you to believe she is and charges 1700$ plus as if she is. She also showed up for pretty much every appointment I had(every 3-4 weeks which was an apparent money grab!) late. 30 min to an hour plus. The last straw for me was how she went downstairs and boiled and cut up eggs to eat AFTER she stared my retighten! leaving me in the chair for at least 10 minutes in a rainstorm, while she knew I had to travel 30 mini in! She asks like she is so positive but if you listen to her enough you will see how very negative she is and has no alliances! I have been with Lana for the past five years and I absolutely love her work. I come from Stockton which is pretty far to get your hair done, but that's should say a lot about her. Liked that I had a quick response. Didn't like did not know who I was when showed up and had given wrong address for appointment at her house. Was doing someone else's hair and said while I was there didn't realize had booked my consultation during another's appointment. Was very scattered. 50 dollar consultation is for 4 locks placed and you have to watch 2 videos one from 80's and the other a bunch of people posing for pics then must look at 3 albums of pictures of previous people she has done hair for. Realize that when booking appointment to have hair done it is non refundable and 250. I made the appointment and cancelled next day and had not been told non refundable until I was cancelling. Price is very over priced she was charging 1600.00 for my hair which was 4/ front 6 in some areas, said she will charge for 6 and discount 100 so she doesn't have to measure all bringing price to 1500.00. This included the follow up a starter kit of the hair product she sold and a satin pillowcase. Tightening was 160 per appointment, styling free if told ahead she likes that part. Work was nice though although size larger than expected for small sisterlocks when looked at photos. Also stated can only use the sisterlocks products on your hair. Found another lady 850 for my hair to be done including follow up who had been doing them 12 years and was also certified consultant. Gave alternatives to the sister lock product and did an excellent job, although Lana stated when told how drastic price difference was it would be Walmart job ( very defensive of her pricing) Later looked to see if she was currently on consult list on sister lock site and she was not. Many don't recertifications because of cost and no change in technique when I asked my consultant. Hers looked the same as lanas but smaller. Just shop around even with losing 300 to Lana still saved additional 300 by going else where and more when counting tightenjngs which are 60 less with my person and not being stuck buying products from Lana. This is not to say in any way that Lana would not have done a good job with my hair in the pics she did nice work. read more

Lana did a former co-worker's hair. This lady started from meager beginnings to beautiful, flourishing locks. Prior to scheduling my installation with Lana, I spoke with 4 consultants and 1 trainee, and met with 3 consultants (Lana included) and the trainee. Ultimately, I chose Lana. I got my installation yesterday, have about 8-9 inches of hair and have very dense hair. We finished in about 18 hours and Lana was nice enough to braid my hair into a style. I was expecting to go through the "ugly" stage with my locks, but I took the braids out today and absolutely love them! I am happy for this process. So far, I've been to Lana three times, 1 for my consultation and for my installation (2 days) and she was always on time. Lana was professional and we took 2 breaks to eat on the first day (13hrs) and the breaks were no longer than 20 minutes each.
