Cheryl's treatment and recommended hair products have been effective in making my hair healthier. I appreciate her and want people to know if you want to have healthy hair check her out. Remember you get what you pay for and her experience and knowledge are worth it to have your hair healthy.

I went to this salon for a simple haircut last month. My hair is already short, and all I wanted was for the sides to be tapered and the top trimmed. That's it. Cheryl Williams, the owner, asked if I wanted color. I told her I normally color my own hair once I get home, but she told me she specialized in color, so I agreed to let her do it. I asked for simple black color. After cutting my hair, she applied the color. Once she washed it out, she proceeded to steam my hair in the sink, saying afterward that it was supposed to promote hair growth. Let me be clear: I did not ask for a steam treatment, nor was I there trying to grow my hair. I came in for a haircut. She then continued cutting my hair. At that point, I didn't have much hair left to work with, but I assumed she was shaping it, so I trusted the process. I also asked her to do my eyebrows, and I'll give credit where it's due--the eyebrows actually came out nice. Then she sprayed something all over my hair. I assumed it was oil sheen or some type of finishing product because it smelled nice. She turned me around, looked at my hair and said, "Your hair looks nice and fuller now." I looked in the mirror and agreed. THEN CAME THE BILL. $414.00. YES. FOUR HUNDRED AND FOURTEEN DOLLARS. For a haircut, color, eyebrows and a steam treatment I DID NOT ASK FOR. I was completely shocked. I felt so violated and uncomfortable that at that point I just wanted to PAY AND GET OUT OF THERE. So I paid the $414 and left. Then, while driving home, I touched my hair. MY HAND WAS COVERED IN BLACK, GREASY STUFF THAT LOOKED LIKE MOTOR OIL. I was absolutely FUMING. How does someone who owns a salon send a customer out of their establishment with whatever this was all over their hair? When I got home, I took a much closer look in the mirror and discovered something even worse: MY SIDES WERE TAPERED UNEVENLY. This wasn't the haircut I asked for. It wasn't even the "pixie cut" I was told I received. The cut was uneven, my hair was coated in some greasy black product, and I was charged $414 for the experience. I left that salon feeling completely taken advantage of. I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN THIS SALON AGAIN. I sincerely hope that Cheryl does better by future customers because nobody should leave a salon feeling the way I did after spending $414.00. If you're considering going here, PLEASE THINK TWICE!!

When I explained that it is illegal to charge any type of fee on debit card transactions, the GM argued with me and tried to tell me it's not a credit card processing fee. Ironically, it just happens to be 3%! As a client, it is not my responsibility to pay your credit fee/overhead fee. That is your cost of doing business! Also, I believe you take that deduction as a business expense on your taxes. Most importantly, in all US states, it is illegal for merchants to charge a fee for using a debit card, including surcharges. This is because the Durbin Amendment prohibits debit card surcharges. While some states have laws restricting or prohibiting credit card surcharges, debit cards are specifically exempt, meaning businesses cannot add fees for using them. In this tough economy, I'm surprised a business would attempt a money grab for services that are discretionary in nature, and typically, only received as the budget allows.
